  PREVIEW

Taking on the Pailan Arrows at the JRD Tata complex in Jamshedpur, the league winners will be strong favourites to win the tie, while the Arrows will be hoping for a new life with the India U-22 boys after losing some key players to other I-League sides.

Dempo coach Armando Colaco feels, though that the beautiful game is beyond ‘paper.’ Pailan are a young team. They have everything to win. So we can never take it easy against them. They have few very good players with lots of potential,” he says. “In fact, we cannot take any match lightly,” he added

The 59 year-old is expected to stick with his tried-and-tested 4-4-2 formation, with Anthony Perreira and Clifford Miranda deployed as the wide-men.

Subhashish Roychowdury is expected to be the last line of defence with a very familiar back line consisting of Mahesh Gawli and Rowilson Rodrigues in central defence with Samir Naik and Debabrata Roy playing as the two full-backs.

With a Ranti Martins-sized hole in the striking department, Koko Saikibo and Joaquim Abranches will handle striking duties with Ryuji Seuoka lining up as an attacking midfielder along with Climax Lawrence in central midfield.

Pailan Arrows will face Mumbai FC after their Dempo test

Pailan Arrows come into the Federation Cup on the back of an undefeated streak in the Durand Cup. They even managed credible draws against the Indian senior team, eventual Nehru Cup winners and also against last year's finalists, East Bengal.

Arthur Papas, who took charge of Arrows, on the back of a promising stint with the India U-22 side in
AFC U-22 Championship (Qualifiers) in Muscat, said, “Our preparations have focused on further developing our playing philosophy whilst incorporating our football conditioning model at the same time. So far the squad has stuck to the philosophy which is pleasing indeed. I’m satisfied with the level of progression achieved.”

Arthur Papas favours 4-3-3 fromation as the ideal formation to assist the development of young players, but it could transform into a containing 4-5-1 where Papas would want to flood the midfield.

Narzary will lead the line for the Arrows, with attacking midfielders Alwyn George and Tirthankar Sarkar tucking in to create a 5 man midfield along with the central trio of Prabir Singh, Pronoy Haldar and Milan Singh.
