| Atalanta sprang a major surprise on Napoli at the Azzurri d'Italia on Wednesday after claiming a 1-0 victory to inflict a second reverse in three matches on Walter Mazzarri's men. The winning goal came on 19 minutes, as German Denis, against his former club, laid off Carlos Carmona, who slammed the ball into the bottom corner of the net. The win puts the Orobici into 10th place, but the southern Italians drop to third, six points behind leaders Juventus, following their toothless display in Bergamo. |

| Cagliari and Siena put up a welcome advertisment for calcio at the Is Arenas, as the hosts cantered to a 4-2 success over the Tuscans. Inside just six minutes, Nene grabbed his first goal of the evening, netting Daniele Conti's corner unchallenged. Nene then doubled their lead from a free-kick midway through the first half Just two minutes later, the Brazilian assisted Marco Sau to make it 3-0 to Cagliari from a one-on-one with Gianluca Pegolo, but Erjon Bogdani pulled one back for Siena before the break. However, their hopes of staging an emphatic comeback soon fizzled out. Luis Neto's foul on Mauricio Pinilla warranted a second yellow card and subsequent sending-off. And despite Francesco Bolzoni's attempts to gift the visitors a goal with just five minutes remaining, the former Palermo striker saw his attempt parried away from 12 yards out. Thiago Ribeiro has courted interest from rival Serie A teams recently, and his neat low finish into the right-hand side of the net would have done his credentials no harm at all. There was still time for a sixth goal; Calaio scoring a scant consolation by heading home Francesco Valiani's cross, but it kept his side rooted to the bottom of the standings, four points adrift. | Chievo go from strength to strength under the stewardship of Eugenio Corini after a double-goal salvo in the second half saw them defeat fellow strugglers Pescara 2-0 at the Bentegodi. The floodgates opened on 75 minutes, as former Olympique de Marseille striker Mamadou Samassa earned his team a penalty, which Luciano duly converted from the spot. Just moments later, Mattia Perin's save from Cyril Thereau then dropped to Adrian Stoian, who made no mistake about the rebound to record a third win in five matches. The Flying Donkeys trudge up the table to 15th, but Pescara fall into the relegation zone and 18th place. |

| Lazio's poor run of results continued on Wednesday as Torino held the Biancocelesti to a 1-1 draw at the Olimpico. Kamil Glik got the ball rolling for the visitors inside just 10 minutes, beating his marker Lorik Cana from a corner before heading home at the far post with Albano Bizzarri beaten. However, shortly after the restart, Stefano Mauri struck the leveller from Antonio Candreva's cross to end the match a stalemate. The final outcome leaves Lazio, winless in three and languishing nine points behind Juve at the summit in fourth, but the Granata jump to 13th in the division. |

| Another spectacle was witnessed in Emilia-Romagna, where Parma came back from a goal behind to seal a 3-2 success over Roma, who again threw away points in the race for a Champions League spot. Erik Lamela maintained his rich vein of form in front of goal with the opener at the Tardini on the edge of the box, but the comeback was on for the Gialloblu as Ishak Belfodil profited from Antonio Mirante's goal kick on 34 minutes. Just three minutes later, Marco Parolo collected a cross from the right and powered his team into the lead, albeit with the torrential-like conditions playing its part. Moments after the hour mark in the second half, Jonathan Biabiany led a counter-attack, and while Belfodil failed to make his connection count, Cristian Zaccardo did not, despite Ivan Piris' attempts to shut his fellow full-back down. Francesco Totti's strike, however, made for a tense ending to the encounter following his rebounded finish from a missed penalty, and former Lyon starlet Belfodil was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence on Marquinho. But Parma held on for a valuable victory to make it three on the bounce and leapfrog Roma into sixth place. The Giallorossi, however, pay the price for another leaky defensive display and drop to seventh. |

| Udinese's steely resolve was tested yet again, as their late heroics salvaged them a 2-2 draw with Catania at the Friuli on Wednesday. Nicolas Spolli's cynical trip on Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu allowed Antonio Di Natale to net from the penalty spot, sending Mariano Andujar the wrong way. However, after an hour of action in northern Italy, Lucas Castro eased past Roberto Pereyra to pop up with the equaliser, and Francesco Lodi's free-kick with four minutes remaining looked to have wrapped up an away win for Rolando Maran's side. But as ever, the Zebrette can never be ruled out. Di Natale, in the third minute of injury time, controlled beautifully in the box and struck the ball across goal for a share of the spoils. They drop to ninth, but Catania find themselves in 11th. |
