  As soon as he buried a lovely free kick low into the bottom corner after 11 minutes, you knew it was going to be his day. He was given the freedom of the pitch to probe by Roma and took full advantage, laying on chance after chance for his teammates with his exquisite passing.

  Constantly adopted dangerous positions across the front line and involved in almost every attack, with Balzaretti in particular finding him to be a menace. Hit the bar with an effort in the first half and came close again moments after the restart, when a great Stekelenburg save denied him a wonder-goal from distance.

  A valiant attempt at twice blocking an unguarded net instead ended up with him conceding a penalty for handball. He fell apart completely after that, leaving a cavernous hole in the centre of defence with some abhorrent positioning.

  Sloppy in the wall defending Pirlo’s free-kick, and simply terrible otherwise. His lack of concentration and waifish defending made Roma seem to be playing with 10 men whenever Juventus attacked.
