EINTRACHT FRANKFURT 0-1 BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH
Borussia Monchengladbach reignited their hopes of qualifying for Europe with a 1-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt at the Commerzbank-Arena on Friday.
With both teams going into the game on the back of a draw, it was the home side who looked to push for an early goal, but it was eventually the visitors who found the breakthrough.
In the 22nd minute, Thorben Marx flicked a brilliantly placed corner from the right on to Dutch striker Luuk de Jong, who headed the ball home.
Die Fohlen did well to maintain their lead for the remainder of the match and demonstrated their defensive capabilities, as the visitors sought a route back into the game.
NURNBERG 1-1 FREIBURG
Freiburg's hopes of qualifying for continental competition next term remain intact after they drew 1-1 with Nurnberg at the Grundig-Stadion.
A controversial handball decision in the 33rd minute saw the hosts awarded a penalty, which Timmy Simmons slotted into the right-hand corner without hesitation.
In the 83rd minute, a shot by Julian Schuster had goalkeeper Raphael Schafer struggling to hold onto the ball, and Jonathan Schmid took advantage by firing home from close range.
WERDER BREMEN 0-1 AUGSBURG
Augsburg's survival hopes were given a big boost after they came away from the Weserstadion with a 1-0 win.
The hosts pushed for an opener early on, but Mehmet Ekici, Kevin de Bruyne and Marko Arnautovic failed to make their chances pay and the visitors slowly began to grow into the game.
After 29 minutes, a lack of communication in the hosts' defence gave Tobias Werner the chance to break the deadlock and he took full advantage with a diving header.
Despite the victory, the Bavarians remain 16th, six points short of safety.
HAMBURG 1-1 GREUTHER FURTH
Greuther Furth dented Hamburg's European ambitions by holding them to a 1-1 draw at the Imtech Arena.
An loose clearance by Slobodan Rajkovic saw Thomas Pledl feed the ball into Nikola Djurdjic's path, who then brilliantly dinked the ball over Rene Adler in the 14th minute.
The hosts gave their response soon after, when Rafael van der Vaart delivered an accurately placed cross into the penalty area.
Dennis Aogo picked it up and laid the ball to Maximilian Beister, who controlled with his chest before firing a half-volley into the back of the net to make it 1-1.
Furth remain rooted to the bottom of the table, while Hamburg sit in seventh place.
WOLFSBURG 1-4 SCHALKE
A fine performance by youngster Julian Draxler inspired Schalke to a 4-1 win over Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen Arena.
In the 33rd minute, Marco Hoger worked his way into the penalty area from the right and laid the ball back to Draxler. The youngster calmly controlled the ball and sent a fearsome effort past a stunned Diego Benaglio.
However, the equaliser came in the 50th minute, when Vieirinha crossed from the right, where he found the lurking Ivica Olic and the striker duly headed home past Timo Hildebrand.
A failed clearance by defender Simon Kjaer then landed straight at the feet of Sead Kolasinac, who laid the ball to Draxler to coolly finish from 18 yards out.
A quick counter by die Knappen saw Draxler find Jefferson Farfan and the Peru international tucked away from close range.
That left Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to round off the scoring as Schalke ran out comfortable winners.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN 2-1 STUTTGART
Bayer Leverkusen tightened their grip on third spot by securing a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart at the BayArena.
Eleven minutes into the match, the guests were awarded a penalty after defender Phillip Wollscheid fouled Vedad Ibisevic.
The former Paris Saint-Germain forward stepped up himself, and expertly tucked the ball home to fire the visitors into a 1-0 lead.
However, in the 81st minute the hosts got their equaliser. Referee Wolfgang Stark blew for a second penalty after a handball by Christian Molinaro, which Stefan Kiessling buried to level the scores.
And with the clock ticking down, a thrilling comeback was complete when Lars Bender headed home a rebound after a Kiessling effort was blocked by Sven Ulreich to seal a remarkable 2-1 win for Leverkusen.

Dusseldorf missed their opportunity to move up to a mid-table position as they drew 1-1 with Mainz at the Esprit Arena on Sunday.
The match started in unfortunate fashion for Bo Svensson, as he conceded an own goal after just five minutes, to gift wrap the visitors the lead.
The Dane tried to snuff out a Mainz counterattack by heading back to his goalkeeper, but Christian Wetklo was caught in no man's land and the ball bounced past him and into the back of the net.
But Thomas Tuchel's men equalised in the 40th minute when Marco Caligiuri sped past Alex Bellinghausen down the left and crossed for Ivan Klasnic to head home.
