Strikes from Javier Pastore and Zlatan Ibrahimovic claimed three points for Les Parisiens, and Goal.com was on hand to rate all the actors

By Robin Bairner

  • Salvatore Sirigu

    Salvatore Sirigu

Beat away a fine shot from Ben Yedder in the first half, but otherwise had little work. Handled everything that came his way solidly.

  • Mamadou Sakho

    3.00

    Mamadou Sakho

Featured for France in midweek and showed improvement for in this clash as strong positioning and a willingness to use his physique meant that the visitors rarely got close to Sirigu’s goal.

  • Alex

    Alex

Was marginally the less impressive of the two centre-backs. A slip allowed a chance for Ben Yedder from the edge of the box, but the goalkeeper bailed out the Brazilian defender, who nevertheless enjoyed a respectable showing.

  • Maxwell

    Maxwell

Not close to the attacking outlet that Jallet was, the left-back pushed forward only sporadically and had less success when he did so. Only on occasion did he look like being beaten down his channel.

  • Christophe Jallet

    3.00

    Christophe Jallet

Bombed forward regularly and offered PSG’s most obvious source of threat on the right of the field. Gregory van der Wiel will have a tricky time breaking into the team ahead of the France international, who did not let his side down at all.

  • Jérémy Menez

    Jérémy Menez

Did not manage to do anything decisive, yet the winger offered another dimension for PSG simply because of his willingness to take on players. One determined second-half run forced a save from the goalkeeper.

  • Blaise Matuidi

    Blaise Matuidi

Very busy in the middle of the field, but his defensive efforts were curbed somewhat by a first-half booking for back-chat to the referee.

  • Marco Verratti

    Marco Verratti

Terrific pass to Pastore to create the opening goal for the hosts, picking out Pastore from range. Showed great composure on the ball throughout and is a player whose star continues to rise in the French capital.

  • Javier Pastore

    Javier Pastore

Has not hit top gear this season, but perhaps his terrific first-half goal will be the catalyst. The Argentine playmaker showed fine composure to loft the ball over Ahamada, but could yet dominate the game more.

  • Thiago Motta

    2
    2.50

    Thiago Motta

Not a spectacular showing by the Italy international, but he was a solid presence in the centre of the field.

  • Zlatan Ibrahimovic
    12
    7
    3.50

    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Quite clearly a level above anything else on the field. Technically, Ibrahimovic was superb and was the hub of the vast majority of PSG’s attacks. Got a deserved goal to seal the game.

Substitutions

  • Clément Chantôme

    Clément Chantôme

Came on after the second goal and shored the midfield up.

  • Ali Ahamada

    3.00

    Ali Ahamada

Denied Ibrahimovic well in the early stages of the game but was left in no-man’s land as Pastore opened the scoring for the hosts. Distribution was questionable at times, too.

  • Cheikh MBengue

    2.00

    Cheikh MBengue

Was often left exposed as PSG targeted the majority of their attacks down his channel. Struggled to cope with the overlapping threat of Jallet, who was allowed to deliver many crosses.

  • Serge Aurier
    1
    0
    2.00

    Serge Aurier

Charged forward with purpose on every possible occasion and allowed little to get by him. Was not so effective in the second period.

  • Aymen Abdennour
    2
    0
    2.50

    Aymen Abdennour

Another strong performance from the highly-rated centre-back, who showed strength and positional awareness to limit the threat of PSG’s offensive line. A series of stepovers to win a corner in the opposing box showed he is no technical slouch.

  • Steeve Yago
    1
    0
    2.50

    Steeve Yago

Still standing in for Jonathan Zebina, who is troubled by back issues, the centre-back was largely strong but made two crucial positional errors that allowed PSG to twice break the offside trap and score. A promising performance, but it had some fatal flaws.

  • Etienne Didot
    0
    0
    2.00

    Etienne Didot

The chief schemer in the Toulouse side, he brought imagination to the midfield with some clever touches. Was not simply a luxury, though, with the experienced central player showing grit to complement his steel. Faded badly after the break.

  • Franck Tabanou
    1
    0
    2.00

    Franck Tabanou

One of Toulouse’s stars on a weekly basis, the left-sided player was unable to exert a great influence on this match. Did not really expose Christophe Jallet’s attacking mindset, failing to get beyond his marker throughout.

  • Moussa Sissoko
    2
    0
    2.50

    Moussa Sissoko

Rated before the match as PSG’s outstanding player, the energetic midfielder showed good drive from the centre of the park. Was very effective for periods, but was prone to losing the ball cheaply on occasion.

  • Etienne Capoue
    1
    1
    2.50

    Etienne Capoue

Scored for France in midweek and did manage to control the middle of the park during this encounter for periods, but nothing like what he is capable of. His most positive contribution was clearing an Alex header off the line, but the game was already done by that stage.

  • Wissam Ben Yedder
    1
    0
    2.50

    Wissam Ben Yedder

Has been in red-hot form so far this season, and showed his confidence with little more than 15 minutes on the clock when he sent a stinging shot from range that required a very good save. Had another good try after the break but saw too little of the ball to be a major threat.

  • Daniel Braaten
    0
    1
    1.50

    Daniel Braaten

Failed to really offer a positive influence on this match for his side, and it was little surprise he was replaced by Yannick Djalo with around an hour gone. Worked hard but the quality was lacking.

Substitutions

  • Emmanuel Riviere
    0
    1
    2.00

    Emmanuel Riviere

    Offered little after coming on.
