59′ (OG) Vincent Kompany
James Milner 52′

City took the lead in the second half through James Milner but the home side came straight back through a Vincent Kompany own goal. Still, it was the visitors who prevailed - and who else but star man Sergio Aguero, with a sensationally taken goal. That's all from me, Tim Poole, folks. Take care and we hope you all enjoyed!

In terms of this season, all today's result does is close the gap between Manchester United and their cross-city rivals from 15 points to 12. Though, looking at the bigger picture, today's game may have a grander significance in terms of the confidence Roberto Mancini's men will invariably have gained.

FULL-TIME! It is all over here at Old Trafford and Manchester City are deserved 2-1 winners!

90′ +4
Yellow Card Antonio Valencia

90′ +4
Substitution Carlos Tévez Javi García

90′ +4
But there's a corner to the home side in what must surely be the last action of the game!

90′ +4
There have been a series of bookings late on here but, importantly, the scoreline has remained the same.

90′ +3
The clock ticks down and City look as though they may just hold on.

90′ +2
Yellow Card Rafael

90′ +2
Substitution Ashley Young Shinji Kagawa

90′ +2
Corner to United! The hosts are looking desperately for a late equaliser.

90′ +1
Yellow Card Pablo Zabaleta

90′ +1
Young is down after a rough tackle from Zabaleta. This is hardly the prettiest end to a match you will ever see.

90′
Substitution David Silva Joleon Lescott

90′
Yellow Card Gareth Barry

90′
There will be four minutes of added time at Old Trafford.

89′
Tempers are fraying yet again and this time it's Ferdinand and Aguero who are having a war of words.

88′
United are piling on the pressure here. In truth, a defeat would hardly hurt them as Sir Alex Ferguson's men would still enjoy a 12-point lead at the top of the table. But can the Red Devils ever deem a defeat at home to City as acceptable?

85′
Substitution Wayne Rooney Javier Hernández
Sir Alex Ferguson has thrown Chicharito on here - can the little Mexican save a point for the hosts?

85′
Yellow Card Carlos Tévez
Another yellow card here and this time Mike Dean puts Tevez's name into the book.

82′
Tempers fray as Zabaleta and Young get their handbags out! The pair almost tussle and throw verbal tirades at each other for a long while thereafter.

81′
The search for an equaliser starts here for United as Young feeds the ball into the area and Van Persie ends up poking the ball just wide. Will the Dutchman grab a goal before full time to end his barren run?

80′
Substitution Danny Welbeck Antonio Valencia

78′
Assist Yaya Touré

78′
Goal Sergio Agüero
GOAL! Aguero with a stunning effort for City! Just as the home fans were raising their noise levels in encouragement of their side, a fantastic individual goal from Aguero has absolutely stunned United and put the visitors ahead. The Argentine received the ball several yards from goal and twisted and turned to beat several defenders in Red. Eventually, he found himself a couple of metres from goal and thumped a well calculated shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

76′
Chance for United as Hart dives low to his right to stop a Young shot from just outside the area.

74′
Nothing comes of it, however, and City resume play.

73′
Corner for United now as Clichy blocks a cross. Van Persie to take...

71′
Substitution Samir Nasri Sergio Agüero
CHANCE! Nasri attempts some fancy French footwork with a backheel towards goal. The effort sails over, though, and that is the midfielder's last action of the game as he makes way for Aguero.

69′
Young sends an incisive cross into the area and Welbeck nods the ball towards goal. Hart is more than equal to the header, however, and Sergio Aguero is warming up on the touchline preparing to come on for the visitors...

66′
The end to end nature of yet another tremendous Manchester derby continues - and at 1-1, it could go either way here.

65′
Naughty from Barry as the midfielder catches goalkeeper De Gea when he was on the ball and concedes a free kick!

63′
CHANCE FOR CITY! Tevez fires a shot in from range but it is actually Silva who gets in the way. Offside is eventually given, anyway, and the hosts are let off.

61′
It is now United who are upping their intensity and - even with a 15-point lead - Sir Alex Ferguson's side are in no mood to let their "noisy neighbours" nick a win off of them at Old Trafford.

59′
Own Goal Vincent Kompany
GOAL! UNITED! Van Persie whipped a thunderous curling free kick in and Jones got his head on the ball. There may be some debate about the eventual scorer, though, as the defender's touch sent the ball onto Kompany and then went in. It may go down as an own goal.

57′
A free kick to United in a dangerous area. Van Persie is the man who will take it.

55′
After a brief period of United pressure, it has been all City so far this second half. Mancini's side famously won here 6-1 last season, of course, and another victory today would surely provide a huge boost for the Italian's somewhat dented reputation.

54′
Despite only just taking the lead, the visitors are pouring forward as Tevez, Nasri, Toure and Milner play around with the ball in space on the edge of the United penalty area.

52′
Assist Samir Nasri

52′
Goal James Milner
GOAL! James Milner rockets Manchester City into the lead here at Old Trafford! Great build-up play from Nasri and Tevez ends with Milner receiving the ball in the area and the England midfielder powers a great strike towards goal that takes a slight deflection off Jones before hitting the back of the net.

49′
Giggs curls an inswinging corner into the City area but Jones is penalised for a push and the visitors have a moment to weather United's moderate storm.

47′
Van Persie whips a dangerous ball in a cross the box and the attack ends up with Welbeck falling to the ground in the penalty area! Boos ring out across Old Trafford, however, as no penalty is given.

46′
The visitors get us off for the second half! Can Mancini's men restore some much-needed pride? The next 45 minutes will reveal all.

So the first half draws to a close with the honours even. Both sides have produced performances full of energy and flair but have little to show in terms of an end product. Wayne Rooney, Samir Nasri, Carlos Tevez, Ashley Young, Yaya Toure and Rafael have been a cut above the rest in terms of effort - though Rio Ferdinand and Vincent Kompany cannot be faulted for their defensive solidity so far.

45′ +1
Nasri and Toure attempt to force a breakthrough but the half-time whistle is blown before the visitors' are allowed to finish their attack. 0-0 here at the break!

45′
There will be one minute of injury time.

44′
CHANCE! Perhaps United's best opening so far as Carrick whips a ball into the area that is headed down for Rafael. The Brazilian clips a cheeky half-volley towards goal and hits the corner of the woodwork!

43′
It is looking like another disappointing day for Van Persie so far, whose latest attempt at goal sees the Dutchman float a header way over. The energy of Rooney and Young has been superb today - but the finishing abilities of the out-of-form Van Persie have let his side down.

42′
Yellow Card Vincent Kompany

41′
Rafael runs down the right-hand side but hits straight into Kompany at full speed. The Brazilian hits the ground but the ball rolls off and a goal kick is given.

40′
The visitors are coping well at the back, however, and Kompany et al are operating effectively considering the pace at which the home side are breaking.

38′
Possession has now swung back in the home side's favour and, though they could not capitalise on the corner Young won for them, they are threading passes together with consummate ease.

37′
CORNER! A fantastic counterattack from the home side sees Young break into the penalty area and drive a low cross towards goal. Nastasic is there to block it and off the ball rolls for another United corner,

36′
It is still 0-0 here at Old Trafford, though it has been far from uneventful. Both sides have had their respective periods of dominance but only have half-chances to show for their efforts. The first goal - if there is one - looks as though it will be crucial.

34′
A long ball towards Rooney cannot be capitalised upon with the England striker on the stretch. His subsequent cross is collected with ease by Hart before Young then whips another ball into the area that is cleared by a City header. It's becoming a more even affair once again, here.

32′
Yellow Card Wayne Rooney
BOOKED! Now Rooney enters the book for a very late challenge on Milner. With two feet in the air from the England striker, United can perhaps consider themselves lucky not to be down to 10 men.

31′
Nothing comes of the set-piece, however, and Ashley Young is the culprit as the ball sails out for a goal kick. A pause for breath for both sides.

30′
Corner to United! A free kick in a dangerous position from the hosts forces a clearance from Zabaleta.

29′
Yellow Card David Silva
BOOKED! David Silva is booked in the area for a handball after the Spaniard handles Zabaleta's incoming cross.

26′
The energy shown by Mancini's men thus far suggests they are a lot better than their 15-point deficit at the top suggests. James Milner is next to come close as he sends a low shot towards De Gea.

25′
In the last five minutes, Manchester City have had an astounding 69% possession. Nasri, meanwhile, is looking intent to convert that dominance into goals and curls a shot wide of the right post from inside the area.

23′
Nasri is dispossessed by Jones inside the United danger area after good attacking energy from the Frenchman. As United clear and break up the other end, similarly composed defending is shown by the City backline.

21′
Against the run of play, the home side muster a half-chance but Ryan Giggs' header can only float yards over the bar. Initially, good work from Van Persie saw the Dutchman burst forward and have his shot deflected into the Welshman's path.

20′
Slowly but surely, the visitors are advancing up the pitch and United are being pressed for space as they descend further and further into their own half.

18′
City are still controlling possession well, distributing the ball comfortably around the middle of the park. The tempo has slowed slightly - but you sense it is the calm before the storm.

16′
The away side are now edging possession and Tevez has to be dispossessed by Rio Ferdinand inside the United penalty area. They may be coming off second best this season but Roberto Mancini's men look determined to come out on top today.

15′
Carlos Tevez is found right on the edge of the far post! But with the ball high in the air, the Argentine cannot control the ball all too well and a half-chance goes begging for the visitors.

13′
Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs attempt an intricate one-two but the ball just trickles out of play. It's honours even so far with 50-50 in terms of possession between the two sides. The hosts have had the better chances, however.

10′
It's been a raucous atmosphere so far and here's what our man Ewan Roberts has to say: Don't tell Roberto Mancini the title race is over - the Manchester City boss is feverishly issuing instructions from the sidelines, urging his side to press high up the pitch.

7′
First clearcut chance goes to United! It's top scorer Robin Van Persie who turns well inside the area and fires agonisingly wide.

4′
What a start it has been here at Old Trafford; the title race may be far from close but every blade of grass is being fiercely contested so far today. Both sides are racing up and down the pitch and it's been end-to-end stuff since kick-off.

2′
It's the home side who've started the liveliest as a Danny Welbeck flick makes its way to to Joe Hart. City hit straight back a minute later, however, as Samir Nasri wins a corner. \sll the early signs here are pointing to a pacy, action-packed game.

1′
And we're off at Old Trafford!
