Live Commentary

  • And that's me done for today, thanks to those who tuned in. will be talking through the action in Spurs vs Fulham, Chelsea vs West Ham and Newcastle vs Wigan!
  • The home side will be kicking themselves today, knowing that three points would have given them a nice cushion but instead they remain part of the scrap for Premier league survival at the bottom of the table.
  • And it is. Chris Hughton's side put in a valiant performance to hold on to a draw, and were perhaps a little unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty of their own. Still, what could prove to be an important point for Norwich City...
  • 90' + 4'
Larsson's free kick is headed on by John O'Shea, but there's no one at the back post and the ball bounces out for a goal kick. That should be game over...
  • 90' + 3'
Tired tackle from Michael Turner results in a free kick for Sunderland. Anxious times for The Canaries...
  • 90' + 2'
    Yellow Card Lee Camp
  • 90'
Four minutes added on at The Stadium of Light. Martin O'Neil looking somewhat lost on the touchline. Looking to be a missed opportunity for the Black Cats
  • 89'
    Yellow Card Sebastian Larsson
  • 89'
    SubstitutionRobert Snodgrass Steven Whittaker
  • 88'
Danny Rose pumps in a long free kick but the ball is eventually cleared and Holt is fouled by Larsson on the break. Free kick for Norwich as they take their time to the frustrations of the Sunderland fans.
  • 86'
Under five minutes remaining here at The Stadium of Light as Sunderland continue to apply pressure by passing the ball among their midfield.
  • 84'
    SubstitutionAdam Johnson Connor Wickham
  • 83'
More changes from Martin O'Neil as he brings on Connor Wickham following the striker's return from a loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday.
  • 81'
Norwich really not rushing procedures at the moment. Chris Hughton's side can only be pleased with the prospect of one point given the circumstances.
  • 77'
Elliott Bennett is given a chance at taking a free kick from a dangerous position. It's fair to say that that will probably be his last chance, as it clears the goal by five metres at least. Clearly the midfielder has been inspired by the weekend's rugby action.
  • 76'
Sunderland starting to show some real urgency now. Three points is a must for Martin O'Neil's men.
  • 75'
    SubstitutionDanny Graham James McClean
  • 72'
    Yellow Card Grant Holt
  • 72'
Oh dear Titus Bramble. Shortly after coming on for an injured Carlos Cuellar the defender misjudges the flight of the ball and allows Grant Holt to go through on goal. Bramble makes a lucky escape when the striker takes a heavy first touch and after some scrambling, Mignolet is awarded a free kick for his efforts.
  • 70'
    SubstitutionCarlos Cuéllar Titus Bramble
  • 70'
Based on the earlier Bassong incident, Norwich should probably have a penalty. The ball strikes Danny Rose's arm in the box, but the referee instead only gives a free kick to The Canaries.
  • 69'
Mignolet making some questionable clearances today for Sunderland. Certainly not what The Black Cat's need if they are to secure what would be a vital three points.
  • 66'
Holt's first chance comes from chasing Snodgrass' thump up the field. The pass is just too long and Mignolet comes out to collect the ball.
  • 65'
    SubstitutionKei Kamara Grant Holt
  • 63'
Chris Hughton is on the touchline barking out orders to his side. Some tactical changes being made as Grant Holt comes on to replace Kamara.
  • 60'
As is to be expected, Norwich are relying on counter-attacking in this second half. A long through ball to Kamara just escapes the strikers feet and Mignolet makes a nervy clearance.
  • 58'
Danny Rose evades three challenges before some quick passing between Fletcher and Larsson ends with a Craig Gardner effort which Lee Camp gets a strong hand to.
  • 56'
Kamara looks to lose his footing but manages to win a free kick for Norwich in a promising position. Snodgrass' resulting free kick reaches Kamara at the back post but Sunderland clear away for the time better. Norwich starting to keep possession now.
  • 54'
Much better from Norwich. Chris Hughton's side break, and Kamara holds the ball up well before Elliott Bennett launches an ambitious effort on goal which drifts well wide of Mignolet's goal.
  • 52'
Norwich practically defending on the edge of their 18-yard box at the moment. Bassong heading to safety time and time again for The Canaries.
  • 49'
Sunderland dominating possession in the early stages of this second half as the ball is whipped into the Norwich City box and Steven Fletcher makes an optimistic appeal for a penalty as he goes down too easily from Russell Martin's challenge.
  • 47'
Kamara operating a lone-striker role at the moment. Could we see the introduction of Grant Holt in the second half?
  • 46'
And we are underway again here at The Stadium of Light...
  • It will be interesting to see how both sides respond in the second half. Sunderland did well to take advantage of their one-man advantage, but I'm sure Chris Hughton will do everything he can do avoid defeat this afternoon.
  • The penalty on the other hand, every time I watch this it appears more and more harsh. Bassong goes to chest the ball and it bounces onto the defenders arm. Doesn't look to be intentional, or worthy of a penalty.
  • Looking at the Mark Bunn incident again, the ball appeared to strike the goalkeeper's elbow. Chris Foy had little choice in showing a red for what appeared to be the denying of a goalscoring opportunity.
  • Chris Hughton walks straight down the tunnel on hearing the half time whistle. Clearly frustrated with what appeared to be two rather harsh decisions from referee Chris Foy and his assistants.
  • 45' + 2'
Sunderland putting Norwich under pressure for these final three minutes.
  • 45'
Three minutes additional time in the first half, most of that probably coming for the Bunn sending off.
  • 43'
Danny Graham wastes a chance to send Sunderland 2-1 up! Larsson's fierce shot is parried away by Camp but only as far as the former Swansea man, who scuffs his attempt wide.
  • 40'
    Penalty Goal Craig Gardner
Goal! Craig Gardner scores from the spot with a powerful finish. Lee Camp had no chance there.
  • 39'
    Yellow Card Robert Snodgrass
  • 39'
Looks to be a harsh call from the referee, the ball seems to come off the defender's chest on to his arm. Assistant gives it.
  • 38'
Penalty awarded to Sunderland! Bassong pinged for handball.
  • 34'
Lee Camp receives some boos from the home fans as he takes his time in placing the ball for a goal kick. The half time whistle can't come any sooner for Chris Hughton's side.
  • 32'
    SubstitutionWesley Hoolahan Lee Camp
  • 30'
    Red Card Mark Bunn
Mark Bunn sent off. A poor header back from a Norwich defender and Danny Graham goes to lob the outcoming keeper, who appears to use his hands to block the ball, outside of the area. Lee Camp comes on to make his Premier League debut in goal for Norwich.
  • 30'
Craig Gardner drives the resulting free kick wide of the goal, and Lee Camp can breath.
  • 26'
    Assist Kei Kamara
  • 26'
    Goal Wesley Hoolahan
Goal! Snodgrass whips in a corner and Kamara shows his athleticism to get up above the Sunderland defence to head the ball towards goal and Wes Hoolahan bundles the ball into the net. Big goal for Norwich!
  • 25'
Out of nothing, Norwich win a corner. They pump a long ball in to Sunderland's territory and Snodgrass' first time cross is cleared.
  • 22'
Sessegnon runs at the Norwich defense and shows his strength to get a shot away. Unfortunately his effort clears the bar. Some good counter-attacking on display from the Black Cats.
  • 20'
Danny Rose fortunate there. He holds the ball for a moment too long and allows Kamara to dispossess him but after some shirt pulling from both candidates, Rose wins the free kick.
  • 17'
Russell Martin wins a corner for The Canaries but once again the corner is a poor one, and Sunderland clear.
  • 14'
Adam Johnson swings in a threatening looking free kick but Sebastian Bassong makes an impressive defensive header and clears the danger.
  • 12'
Norwich are playing some keep ball at the moment, passing around with ease, just not making any ground.
  • 9'
Larsson's free kick is a poor one, not even beating the Norwich City wall.
  • 7'
Sessegnon is fouled on the outside of the box by Michael Turner. Dangerous looking free kick here.
  • 4'
Messy defending from Norwich. Long free kick into the penalty area with Danny Graham knocking the ball down for Steven Fletcher. Goalkeeper Mark Bunn pounces on the ball and Norwich make a lucky escape
  • 2'
Robert Snodgrass earns a corner for the Canaries, but the ball is cleared for now. Some early pressure from Chris Hughton's side.
  • The players are on the pitch, who are you backing?
  • Meanwhile, Grant Holt starts from the bench today for The Canaries and Elliott Bennett starts in place of Anthony Pilkington, who is out with a hamstring injury.
  • Martin O'Neil has made three changes to his side which lost 3-1 to QPR last weekend, with Titus Bramble, Jack Colback and Alfred N'Diaye being replaced with Carlos Cuellar, David Vaughan, and Danny Rose. Connor Wickham also makes the bench after returning from his loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday.
  • Norwich: Bunn; R Martin, Bassong, Turner, Garrido; E Bennett, Johnson, Howson, Snodgrass, Hoolahan; Kamara. Subs: Camp, Whittaker, Holt, Jackson, Fox, Becchio, R Bennett.
  • Sunderland: Mignolet; Gardner, O'Shea, Cuellar, Rose; Johnson, Vaughan, Larsson, Sessegnon; Fletcher, Graham. Subs: Bardsley, N'Diaye, Wickham, Colback, Bramble, McClean, Westwood.
  • And without further ado, lets have some team news...
  • Both sides will be looking to clinch a vital three points this afternoon to move a step closer to Premier League survival for at least another season.
  • Afternoon ladies and gents, my name is Adam Gilbert (@AdamGilbert0511) and today I will be talking you through the action at The Stadium of Light where Sunderland face Norwich City
