So that's it from me on a good day for Merseyside. This is Nicholas McGee signing off!

Liverpool move into seventh on the back of that win, they are now just nine points shy of fourth and still harbour hopes of a Champions League place. Wigan are only outside the bottom three on goal difference and will be nervously looking over their shoulders.

The referee blows for full-time and it's a fully deserved three points for Liverpool, Luis Suarez grabbing the headlines with a brilliant hat-rick after Stewart Downing had given the visitors the lead.

90′ +2
One last effort from Wigan, which is from James McCarthy. His half-volley flies way over though and that should be it.

90′ +1
There will be two minutes of added time.

88′
Daniel Agger flicks a corner into the path of Henderson, whose header is cleared off the line by McCarthy.

85′
The game is now meandering to its conclusion. In reality Wigan's race was run a long time ago but at least they have shown some heart in the second half.

82′
More free flowing football from Liverpool as they counter in numbers, however Joe Allen can't control inside the box and they are denied a fifth.

79′
Excellent work from Callum McManaman almost brings a goal, the substitute burst into the area before pulling the ball back for Maloney, whose curling effort is well saved by Reina.

76′
One player who does deserve credit for his efforts is Arouna Kone. The Ivorian has worked tirelessly up front for no reward.

73′
Lovely ball over the top from Stewart Downing but Suarez is unable to make anything of it. Rodgers' side are putting on a show.

71′
Substitution Coutinho Jordan Henderson

70′
Phillipe Coutinho receives a good reception from the travelling fans as he is replaced by Jordan Henderson. The Brazilian has provided two assists and won the free kick for Liverpool's third. An excellent performance from the midfielder.

67′
Shaun Maloney gets a free header two yards out but Reina continues his excellent form, palming the effort into the air. The Liverpool keeper deserves his clean sheet.

64′
No atmosphere, no action and no hope for Wigan of coming back into this one. Sorry to keep repeating myself but there isn't much else to say.

61′
Substitution Jean Beausejour Callum McManaman

61′
It's all a bit dull at the moment, Liverpool have unsurprisingly taken their foot off the gas and Wigan appear to devoid of inspiration.

59′
Yellow Card James McArthur

58′
Wigan are enjoying a decent spell of possession at the moment, but there is no intensity about their play and if there are more goals to come, they will likely come from the visitors.

55′
No more chances for either team, just the visitors coasting along. This is now a training exercise for Liverpool, no doubt about it.

52′
Substitution Gary Caldwell R. Espinoza

52′
Substitution Franco Di Santo Antolín Alcaraz

52′
The Liverpool fans are in fine voice and who can blame them for enjoying this display? The Reds have been utterly outstanding.

49′
Assist Glen Johnson

49′
Goal Luis Suárez
If it wasn't game over before it surely is now, Glen Johnson bursts down the right before playing an expertly-timed through ball to Suarez, who showcases his clinical nature once more, coolly finishing to secure his hat-rick and the points.

46′
Liverpool restart proceedings.

And it proves to be the last action of the half. The DW is deflated, Liverpool have been glorious, with Suarez and Coutinho a joy to watch, Wigan have been woeful and have a peak the equivalent of Everest to climb.

45′ +3
It's a good one from Beausejour but Reina is equal to it and tips over.

45′ +2
Yellow Card Lucas Leiva

45′ +2
Maloney wins a free kick in a dangerous position right at the end of the half.

45′
There will be two minutes added time.

44′
Yellow Card Joe Allen

44′
We're closing in on the break, and Wigan surely need a goal this half if they are to have any chance of taking something from the game.

41′
The atmosphere at the DW Stadium is akin to that of a morgue, beating Reading is one thing, but you have to perform on a consistent basis in this league, Wigan aren't doing that.

38′
This is in danger of becoming a rout, Suarez controls a ball over the top excellently before producing a volley which is well saved by Al Habsi.

36′
It's surely Liverpool's day, Pepe Reina is in fine form, the Spaniard performing heroics to tip over Franco Di Santo's point-blank header.

35′
Yellow Card Gary Caldwell

34′
Goal Luis Suárez
And it leads to a goal, the Uruguayan's curling effort is deflected by Shaun Maloney, Al Habsi manages to turn it on to the post but slips in process and bundles the ball into the net with his back. Game over.

32′
Luis Suarez is standing over a free kick 25 yards out, danger for Wigan.

29′
Gary Caldwell heads a corner softly into the arms of Reina. It's all a bit listless from Wigan at the minute.

27′
Wigan doing a little more pressing but a good spell of possession ends in a disappointing long-range effort from James McCarthy which rolls hopelessly wide.

24′
Liverpool are ridiculously comfortable, you just can't see a way back for Wigan even at this early stage.

21′
My apologies, it was Coutinho with the assist for Liverpool's second. Wigan almost respond as Reina tips over a volley from Boyce.

18′
Assist Coutinho

18′
Goal Luis Suárez
I said they were in control and now Liverpool have a second. Allen plays in Luis Suarez through on goal and he makes no mistake, slotting past Ali Al Habsi from close range. Wigan in trouble.

16′
The visitors are well in command at the moment, Wigan were very good in their win over Reading last week but are very much second best right now.

13′
Liverpool probe the home defence again with a driving run from Joe Allen, but his pass cannot find Steven Gerrard, who was ready to pounce in the box.

10′
The contest has died down a little since the goal, Liverpool are more than happy to rest on their laurels for the time being.

7′
The home side have seen a lot of the ball since going behind but are not really doing anything with it, Liverpool are pressing high and putting Wigan under a lot of pressure.

4′
How will Wigan react to that? A nightmare start for Roberto Martinez's side.

2′
Assist Coutinho

2′
Goal Stewart Downing
An instant response from Liverpool and it leads to a goal, a long ball over the top eventually comes to Coutinho, whose cross is met by Stewart Downing to nod home and put the visitors one up.

2′
Early chance for the hosts as Emmerson Boyce whips in a good cross but Arouna Kone's connection is a weak one and Pepe Reina easily gathers.

1′
Wigan get the game underway!

The DW Stadium is very full this evening, the locals must be anticipating a momentous result for their side.
