    Diego Alves

The Brazilian goalkeeper had a quiet evening as he was hardly tested. Alert whenever needed as he kept out Maher's shot in the first half and pulled off a great save to deny Martens in the second half.

  • Adil Rami

Adil Rami Top of the Match

Missed the first leg due to suspension, but made the difference in the return. Solid as a rock in his defensive duties, and netted twice early on to give his side a 3-2 aggregate lead.

  • Barragán

    3.00

    Barragán

Barragan was hardly troubled at the back, and charged forward whenever possible. Still failed to really convince though, and deservedly booked after the break.

  • Jordi Alba

    3.50

    Jordi Alba

The midfielder didn't see as much of the ball as he would have hoped for, but still played a key role in Valencia's win as he tapped home to make it 3-0 from close range to effectively out the match to bed before setting up Los Che's fourth.

  • Ricardo Costa

    0
    3.00

    Ricardo Costa

Costa formed a solid partnership with Rami at the back as the duo kept Altidore at bay without any noteworthy problems. Nothing spectacular from the Portuguese, yet a satisfying performance.

  • Jérémy Mathieu

    3.00

    Jérémy Mathieu

The Frenchman seems ill at ease at left-back, and occasionally struggled against Beerens. Made some good runs forward and showed some decent build-up play.

  • Mehmet Topal

    0
    3.00

    Mehmet Topal

Topal made a few important interceptions in midfield, and hardly lost possession. Less influential than in the first leg, but a good outing nonetheless.

  • Sofiane Feghouli

    3.50

    Sofiane Feghouli

The winger played a key role in his side's victory as he provided the assist for the opener. Then set up Soldado down the right as the striker created the third.

  • Tino Costa

    0
    3.00

    Tino Costa

Picked up a needless booking early on when he ignored the referee's orders, before missing a huge chance to gift Valencia the lead. Sent in the cross that eventually resulted in 2-0.

  • Jonas
    0
    0
    3.00

    Jonas

Jonas never stopped running, but the Brazilian was unable to make the most of the space the AZ defence allowed him. Tried his luck once before the interval, but blew his shot high and wide.

  • Roberto Soldado
    1
    0
    3.50

    Roberto Soldado

Surprisingly, Soldado once again failed to add his name to the score sheet, despite getting numerous chances to do so. Will be pleased with his contribution though as he set up two goals and was involved in another.

Made his return from injury in the closing stages of the game.

    Pablo Hernández

Replaced Feghouli in the second half, and found the net shortly after with an excellent finish.

  • Parejo

    Parejo

Came on for Jonas halfway throughout the second half, but was unable to really make an impact.

  • Esteban Alvarado

    3.00

    Esteban Alvarado

Made an excellent save early on to deny Soldado, but then didn't look good for the opener as he failed to collect Feghouli's cross. Recovered with a few more good saves in the remainder of the game.

  • Dirk Marcellis
    0
    0
    3.00

    Dirk Marcellis

Marcellis had a decent game down the right as he kept Jordi Alba relatively quiet. Unfortunate to see his direct opponent score seconds after clearing a ball off the goal-line. Didn't get involved too much in possession though.

  • Nick Viergever

    2.50

    Nick Viergever

His poor clearance in the 12th minute allowed Soldado a shot on goal, but made amends with an excellent block shortly after. At fault for the third Valencia goal with a sloppy pass.

  • Simon Busk Poulsen
    0
    0
    2.50

    Simon Busk Poulsen

Poulsen loves to charge forward down the left, but got very little opportunities to do just that. Pinned down in his own half by Feghouli, and looked vulnerable defensively.

  • Niklas Moisander
    0
    0
    2.50

    Niklas Moisander

The Finland international did not have an easy evening as Jonas caused him all kinds of trouble with his intelligent movement. Unable to help out his fellow defenders in the way he did in Alkmaar last week.

  • Adam Maher
    0
    0
    3.00

    Adam Maher

The young midfielder showed some good touches and tried his luck with a well taken volley halfway through the first half. Always calm on the ball, but occasionally out-muscled by the more experienced Tino Costa.

  • Maarten Martens
    1
    1
    2.00

Maarten Martens Flop of the Match

Martens should have taken AZ by the hand at Mestalla, but did the complete opposite as he was largely anonymous. Usually his side's most creative player, but very disappointing on the evening. Had one dangerous shot parried by Alves.

  • Rasmus Elm
    0
    0
    2.50

    Rasmus Elm

As always, Elm hardly lost possession, but the Swede didn't manage to leave his mark on the game. Has set his sights on a move to a bigger club, but simply didn't do enough to impress any scouts.

  • Brett Holman
    0
    0
    2.50

    Brett Holman

Unable to replicate last week's heroics as the Australia international's focus lay on defending rather than attacking. Withdrawn at half-time due to injury.

  • Jozy Altidore
    0
    0
    2.50

    Jozy Altidore

The striker hardly got in dangerous positions, but worked hard and used his body well. However, nowhere to be seen when Rami netted twice from corner kicks in the first half.

  • Roy Beerens
    0
    0
    3.00

    Roy Beerens

Beerens was never afraid to take on his direct opponent, but the winger generally lacked the strength to get past Mathieu. Still AZ's main attacking threat though in his first game since his return from a rib injury.

Substitutions

    Erik Falkenburg

Came on for the final 10 minutes.

  • Johann Gudmundsson

    Johann Gudmundsson

Came off the bench at half-time to replace the injured Holman, but hardly touched the ball during his 45 minutes on the pitch.

  • Charlison Benschop

    3.00

    Charlison Benschop

Looked lively after replacing Altidore, and set up Martens with an excellent low cross from the left.
