Pune FC recorded their first win after three defeats on the row with goals in either halves by Mandjou Keita from the penalty spot and Othello Tabia. They downed the Air Men who were flying high after putting past four against HAL.

The hosts started with Abhra Mondal who was recently signed from East Bengal on loan under the bar and that provided the catalyst for their elusive win which had avoided them. He made some excellent saves which allowed the other players to play with uninhibited confidence.

With Pune FC hungry for the win they tried to make the home advantage count, going for the jugular from the word go. Jeje, Keita made merry with Lester too joining in the fray with ambitious long range drives but the scoreline failed to reflect on their dominance till the 41st minute when Keita was brought down in the box by Air India defender Manjit to allow him to score from the penalty spot.

Pune FC could have gone ahead in the twenty-fifth minute itself when Karma crossed from the right which Keita almost get his head to, but Air India goalie, Pawan Kumar collected the ball after an initial fumble.

After the break, Pune FC seemed to have lost a bit of impetus as Air India grew into the game slowly forcing Abhra Mondal to make some excellent saves. A 25 yarder from Sangha was saved brilliantly by Abhra who dived to his left and adjudged correctly the ball which had taken a deflection.

Pune FC's midfield was marshaled by the excellent Douhou. Before they got their second, Keita missed a chance saved by goalie Pawan Kumar after a dangerous cross from Lester.

Eventually Pune FC made it 2-0 when Othallo Tabia volleyed Lester's low corner into the Air India net to give a much needed win for the home side. It also ended Air India's four match unbeaten streak, all in one swipe.

The win also justified how Pune missed a solid keeper under the bar, with Abhra Mondal giving them the necessary solidity at the back.
