Chirag United Kerala 0-2 HAL Bangalore: HAL register their maiden win in this season's I-League
HAL Bangalore beat fellow strugglers Chirag United Kerala but still stay rooted to the bottom of the league table.....
By Goal.com
It was indeed something to cheer about for the away team, HAL Bangalore as they registered their first win in this season's I-league beating fellow relegation candidates Chirag Kerala convincingly 2-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi.
HAL took an early lead in the game with Malaemngamba Meetei putting the visitors ahead with a well taken shot past the Chirag goalie to make it 1-0 in the 7th minute of the game itself.
The away side piled on the pressure on Chirag, and the team from Kerala failed to hold on to the ball for more than a couple of minutes. However, inspite of the pressure they applied, HAL failed to add to their advantage as Nizam Packeer Ali's side defended stubbornly to keep the game from becoming an all out rout.
The match was sealed a minute from normal time for the Bangalore based side when Hamza scored and doubled the lead in the 89th minute and it was game over for the Kerala based side who had built a seemingly impregnable fortress outside their half, after conceding the first goal.
With their first win of the campaign, HAL propel themselves to 6 points from 17 matches but are still rooted to the bottom of the I-league table.
