The Indian national team suffered their second successive defeat of the Caribbean tour as they lost 2-1 to Guyana on Wednesday evening at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, Guyana.
Steven Dias canceled out Vurlon Mills' opening goal as a much improved display from India saw them go into the break all square. But a second half goal from Guyana defender Walter Moore turned out to be the winner as Armand Colaco's side went down fighting.
Coach Colaco named the same eleven that started in the 3-0 defeat to Trinidad & Tobago with veteran midfielder Climax Lawrence leading the side for the fourth straight game.
India were aiming to bounce back and come up with a much better performance in this game.
With their FIFA Ranking dropping down to 158 on Wednesday, it was even more important for India to get a positive result against the higher ranked Guyana side.
However Armando Colaco’s side fell behind in the 17th minute when forward Vurlon Mills found the back of the net.
Guyana looked lively after the goal but the possession was pretty even as India looked to comeback in the game.
The South Asians equalized through a Steven Dias free-kick in the 36th minute. The Churchill winger's last international goal came in the 3-1 win over Pakistan in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers back in March.

Dias Scored For India
At halftime the score read 1-1 with everything to play for in the second half as India looked to cause an upset like their historic win over Qatar back in July.
Guyana are technically not as good as Trinidad & Tobago but the Golden Jaguars used their physical superiority to get the better of the Indian side.
The hosts took the lead three minutes after the hour mark with experienced defender Walter Moore getting on the scoresheet.
Moore’s goal was the tenth India had conceded in four games, which just goes to show that Colaco’s boys are still very much learning at international level.
Team India needed to comeback for the second time in the match and Armando Colaco also made a few changes to ensure the same but Guyana defended solidly.
In the end, India went down 2-1 to suffer their third defeat in four matches but this was certainly a much better display from the Men in Blue.
This match concludes India’s first Caribbean tour in 27 years and it remains to be seen whether the national team plays anymore international matches this year other than the SAFF Cup in December.
The team for the UK tour next month will be an Under-23 side, which will be boosted by the presence of the experienced Renedy Singh as captain with the legendary Sukhwinder Singh as coach.
India Lineup: - Subrata Paul; Samir Naik (Robert Lalthalmuana), Raju Gaekwad (Mahesh Gawli), Gouramangi Moirangthem, Debabrata Roy; Steven Dias (Clifford Miranda), Climax Lawrence (c) , Mehtab Hussain, Syed Nabi; Sunil Chhetri, Jeje Lalpekhlua
