Should have done a lot better to keep out Argentina's first strike, which proved to be game-changing. A black mark on what had been up to that point a decent performance from the keeper

Did well attacking Clemente down the right, and almost scored a late winner with an excellent run. Defensive naivety cost him dear at 1-0 though when he was caught out of position for Argentina's equaliser

Started very solidly, but looked more and more ragged as proceedings continued and failed to stop Higuain for the shot which led to Aguero's winner

A dreadful miscommunication with Ospina led to the equaliser, and the AC Milan man was left in the dust by Messi in the build-up to the winner. The captain needed to keep a clear head in those decisive plays

An impressive showing from the full-back, who never stopped running down the left and was rarely caught out at the back. His exertions and service deserved more

Along with Aguilar, did a sterling job at muzzling Messi and Sosa for the majority of the game, before fading when the match opened up in the second half

Was a terrier in front of the defence as he continually harassed Messi in possession, barely giving him an inch of space. His presence was sorely missed after being substituted in the last minutes of the game

His mazy running won Colombia the free-kick which led to the goal, and he was generally a nuisance for the away back line. Desperately needed a creative partner though, and faded in the second-half to become a peripheral figure

More than a hint of luck in the Atletico Nacional man's goal, but struck the set-piece well to force a deflection. Always looking to get forward, but wasted far too much possession

Ran hard and with purpose, but at times lacked the final ball having beaten his marker. Like the rest of his attacking partners, guilty of giving the ball too cheaply

Given no chance on the goal thanks to a wicked deflection, but otherwise did a solid job between the posts and made an excellent point-blank save from Zuniga in the dying minutes

The Manchester City man still fails to convince he can succeed Zanetti. Time and again passed by Armero and Ramos, and gave away a careless free-kick which allowed Colombia to take the lead

Taken off after half an hour after a clumsy tackle on James left him far worse off. Made one decisive block from Ramos before he was retired

Accomplished performance from the young centre-back, who made few errors and played a patient defensive game. Never missed a header

Started the move which led to the opener with a smart interception and pass, and generally kept Zuniga at bay on the flank without pushing forward a great deal himself

After a terrible first 45 minutes, the Metalist midfielder came out with much more purpose after the break. Linked more intelligently with Messi, and his teasing cross helped tee up the Barcelona man

Struggled to contain the Colombia passing game in the first-half, before showing far more destructive power after half-time. Offered very little going forward, however.
