Hardly troubled but for a weak second-half header and his own decision to come to the edge of the area to clear under pressure. To be fair, he was probably bored due to the inactivity!

An early foul on Pazzini suggested a shortage of pace, but he was to have a great impact at the other end, heading home high above Maicon to open the scoring. Hardly troubled thereafter, except when caught out by Gago’s loss of possession to Milito.

Dragged out of position a couple of times as Inter built rare first-half attacks, but for much of the game he was a mere passenger as his Roma side bossed possession and territory.

From his great interplay with Totti to consistently getting into good crossing positions, he was one of Roma’s most effective attackers in the first half. Less of a threat in the second period, but his job by then was simply not to take risks with his side well in command.

Beat Lucio easily but shot at Julio Cesar from a narrow angle after Totti’s backheel assist, then made a magnificent leap to reach Jose Angel’s cross but headed just over. Kept Inter on their toes throughout before being replaced by Bojan for the final 20.

Showed good energy down the right, often becoming an extra midfielder in his command of the ball in Roma’s superb passing masterclass. Let Nagatomo have a couple of sighters from the wing, but it was a largely solid display.

Alongside De Rossi, he was much of the reason for Roma’s sheer dominance in the first half, playing the ball all too easily around Inter’s cowering midfield. Racked up a 96 per cent passing rate to even trump his midfield partner, ensuring that the visitors saw far too little of the ball to harbour real hopes of getting something from the game.

Added a sense of organisation and protection for the back four which had been sadly lacking during his recent absence, chalking up a 93 per cent passing success over the 90 minutes as he led Roma from the middle. Only contract talks can stop him becoming the leader of this new Roma side now.

Played a delightful ball over the top of the Inter back four for Borini which so nearly gave Roma an early lead, but then lost position to Milito, allowing the Argentine to force Inter’s best opening of the first half. A very assured display before his early withdrawal for Simplicio.

His magnificent little backheel sent Lamela clear for a chance shortly before the opener, then his great interplay with Jose Angel almost fashioned a second. Continued to drop into space to make the most of the midfield’s command as Roma fashioned countless opportunities.

Has now conceded eight goals in four days, and while his defence have contributed massively to that statistic, he has hardly looked like stopping any of them. Going through one of the most uncertain spells of his career.

A poor game from Zanetti – which is a real rarity. Never really looked any more likely to get close to the Roma midfield than his team-mates, despite his attempts to cover decent yardage. He will doubtless be the first to insist on a better performance against Novara next week.

He started reasonably, but quickly went downhill. His part in the third goal will see him turning away from the video later, while he was also one of the countless Inter players that stood off Bojan as he made it 4-0. An afternoon to forget.

Failed to get anywhere near Juan as his countryman opening the scoring with a towering header, then could have been punished for an over-zealous challenge on Borini. Minutes later he was caught ball-watching as the young striker made it 2-0. Regularly failed to get close to the advancing Jose Angel too. Put out of his misery with Faraoni’s introduction at the three-quarter mark.

Turned inside out by Borini as he dived in to foil the striker’s efforts to double Roma’s lead, and it was symptomatic of a half in which he seemed to be behind the eight-ball constantly. Substituted at the interval.

Got forward well at times, but his crossing was occasionally wayward, especially when lumping a square ball well beyond the unmarked Pazzini. Once more, he couldn’t even get close to his opposite number defensively though, as his ability without the ball was again called into question.

Battled, but it was just not enough to stop Roma’s bullying Inter out of the game almost from the first minute to the last. He was unable to provide the back four with the protection he often gives them, while he rushed a couple of passes when put under pressure.

Lacked any real go-forward as Inter looked to his energy to be one of their plus points on the day. Looked a little too lightweight off the ball and often ended up running around with little purpose as his side struggled throughout.

Dropped into a left-wing position fairly regularly in his desire to see some of the action, before having his back-post run ignored by Nagatomo as Inter had a rare break. Replaced by Poli at the break.

Did superbly to wriggle away from Gago and create a chance for himself, but his right-foot effort was tame in the end. Thereafter he offered very little as he paid the price for his side’s complete ineffectiveness from back to front.
