Player Ratings: Valencia 1-1 Levante

Goal.com rates the players on show in the Valencia derby, in which both clubs failed to find the winner despite numerous chances

By Roger Gonzalez

  • Guaita

    Guaita

Had little to do all game long. Was let down by his defenders on the goal. Did well with some crosses and was alert but it was an uneventful contest for him for the most part.

  • Adil Rami

    Adil Rami

The French defender did a nice job setting up Aduriz with an early cross but looked lost at the back. Cleared out some crosses but was beaten too many times one on one, and generally is playing well below the required standard at the moment.

  • Barragán
    0
    0
    3.00

    Barragán

He did his part in getting forward but did not step up in defence, often getting beaten down the flank. He was a step slow and looked, in all honesty, like an amateur.

  • Víctor Ruiz

Víctor Ruiz Flop of the Match

The scoreline is mainly his fault. The fans may want him to return to Napoli after this one, watching Valdo set up Kone like a spectator. Awful game in an awful result for his side.

  • Jérémy Mathieu

    2.50

    Jérémy Mathieu

Did a good job moving forward and provided some solid crosses, but the attack did not make him look good, failing to finish his chances. His performance will surely add confidence in the coming games after a shaky run of late.

  • Albelda
    0
    0
    3.00

    Albelda

He was as physical as ever and really led his team's midfield, but was sacrificed for a more attacking player as his team looked for the win.

  • Sofiane Feghouli
    0
    0
    3.00

    Sofiane Feghouli

Providing the final pass to set up Jonas' goal, but was far from at his best, and struggled consistently to get beyond any of the Levante back four.

  • Pablo Hernández
    0
    0
    2.50

    Pablo Hernández

Should have earned an assist after setting up Alcacer with a gorgeous pass late on. Was involved in counterattacks but often lacked the final pass.

  • Parejo
    0
    0
    2.50

    Parejo

He is no Ever Banega, and today was just another reason why the statement is true. The former Getafe man did not want the ball, and when he did, his impact was negligible.

  • Jonas
    0
    0
    2.00

    Jonas

Finished from close to open the scoring but could have had another one in the second half. The former Gremio star often positioned himself well but was surprisingly taken off late.

  • Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia
    0
    0
    2.50

    Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia

As usual, he wasted chance after chance. The Spaniard did have a hand in the goal though with a clever through ball, but as a striker, he did not do his job. Make no mistake about it, he isn't a replacement for Roberto Soldado.

Substitutions

  • Tino Costa

    Tino Costa

A late sub who contributed one cross from a set piece that could have been put away.

  • Pablo Piatti

    3.00

    Pablo Piatti

Always better when starting, Piatti led the counterattack on a couple occasions but could not break down the Levante defence.

  • Paco Alcácer

    2.00

    Paco Alcácer

The young player should have headed home the winner in his only chance late. Not sure what Emery expects of him when he is brought on four minutes from time.

  • Gustavo Adolfo Munúa
    0
    0
    3.00

    Gustavo Adolfo Munúa

Wasn't forced to make many saves on the night as Valencia couldn't put much on target, but he should have done better on the goal, coming out a bit too quick, allowing an easy finish for Jonas. Did make a big stop late from Alcacer.

  • Juan García García
    0
    0
    3.50

    Juan García García

The veteran was one of his side's best on the evening. He did have issues at times with Feghouli but did an excellent job shutting down Barragan and also helped start the counter with quick passes.

  • Ballesteros
    0
    0
    3.50

    Ballesteros

Decent but nothing more. The massive defender did a quality job heading out chances and tackling with power but some of his passes forward were simply awful.

  • Pedro López
    0
    0
    2.50

    Pedro López

Most spectators only noticed Pablo Hernandez once or twice in the match, and that has to do mostly with the defender, who contained the Valencia speedster time and time again, pushing him inside. Solid display.

  • Gustavo Daniel Cabral

    3.00

    Gustavo Daniel Cabral

The Argentine was as physical as anyone else but was caught off guard on the goal. Looking to mark Aduriz, he failed to get a foot in to stop the through ball to Feghouli.

  • Barkero
    0
    0
    3.00

    Barkero

His crosses were threatening on the left but really should have done much better on a free-kick in front of goal early. Did a good job overall to feed his teammates, most noticeably setting up the tying goal with a stellar cross to the back post, finding Valdo.

  • Iborra
    0
    0
    2.50

    Iborra

The young player held his own in the middle of the pitch, particularly frustrating Parejo. Xavi Torres saw most of the ball, but he was there to step in with a tackle or a pass throughout the match.

  • Pedro Botelho
    0
    0
    2.50

    Pedro Botelho

The Brazilian was alert and confident, moving well with the ball. He gave the Valencia defenders a difficult time with his deceiving speed. Taken off late.

  • Xavi Torres
    0
    0
    2.50

    Xavi Torres

Connected the defence and the attack well but wasted a great chance from the top of the box off a great heel from Kone. No excuse for not putting it on frame. Improved in the second half with facilitating the ball.

  • Valdo
    0
    0
    3.00

    Valdo

Not his best performance. Once considered a rising star when with Real Madrid, we are still waiting. He looked lost and only could rely on his footwork and speed until coming alive in the second with an assist to Kone.

  • Arouna Kone
    0
    0
    3.50

Arouna Kone Top of the Match

Did a brilliant job in setting up Xavi Torres' effort on goal and capped off his game with a equalising strike in the second half. His side's best performer but should have bagged a late winner from close range.

Substitutions

Came on to aid in possession and saw the ball briefly in his cameo.

    Another time-wasting substitute.

  • Abdel Kader Ghezzal

    Late sub to waste time.
