Live Commentary

  • Valencia put in another disappointing performance and completely earned their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Getafe. Soldado opened scoring with a top corner strike inside the box but was soon cancelled out by Pedro Rios' header. Getafe took the lead with another header from Miku. Having assisted both strikes, Gavillan made his presence felt once more when his free kick deflected off of Bruno and into the back of the net to cement the home side's victory. It has been a pleasure covering another brilliant La Liga football match. This is Victor Ferreira, good evening!
  • Full time at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez!
  • 90' + 3'
Just when it looked like Valencia would score, Feghouli swings and misses inside the box. Aduriz nearly takes advantage of an open net before having his shot blocked by a defender.
  • 90' + 2'
    Yellow Card Víctor Ruiz
  • 90' + 2'
Victor Ruiz stops a threatening counterattack with a crunching tackle. The defender earns a yellow card for his rough play.
  • 90'
The referee has given four minutes of added time.
  • 89'
If all stays the same, both Malaga and Levante can join Valencia in third with a win.
  • 88'
    Yellow Card Parejo
  • 86'
    SubstitutionPedro Ríos Pablo Sarabia
  • 86'
ADURIZ! GOOAALL -- NO! Valencia are denied their second goal by the linesman who waves his flag after the forward has tapped the ball past Moya. Difficult but correct decision from the official.
  • 85'
Luis Garcia has substituted the three most influential men in this game by taking off Gavillan, Miku and now Pedro Rios.
  • 83'
    Yellow Card Pedro Ríos
  • 83'
The ball is cleared and Valencia charge up the field to be disappointed by a poor cross from Mathieu. Once again, the final pass is lacking.
  • 81'
    Yellow Card Míchel
  • 81'
Free kick for Getafe. It's being taken from the same position as the one which led to Bruno's own goal.
  • 79'
    SubstitutionMiku Dani Güiza
  • 79'
Valencia is playing very high up the pitch now. Their defenders are playing on the halfway line. Foresight sees a counterattack from Getafe coming in the near future.
  • 77'
    SubstitutionJonas Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia
  • 77'
Just as it was foreseen, Emery hooks Jonas for Aduriz.
  • 75'
Los Che pull a page out of Getafe's book and counterattack from the resulting corner. Feghouli is found wide open in the box but his shot is blocked by a defender.
  • 74'
The home side counterattack once more and Casquero has his strike from the left deflected over the bar.
  • 72'
    Yellow Card Miku
  • 72'
Getafe threaten in the box once more as Diego Castro dribbles his way in and causes a scramble for the ball, which is eventually cleared.
  • 70'
Jonas, despite a few flashes of talent, has been really poor today. Fans can only wonder if they will see Aritz Aduriz come in and replace the Brazilian.
  • 69'
    SubstitutionGavilán Francisco Casquero
  • 69'
    SubstitutionBruno Jérémy Mathieu
  • 68'
Mathieu on for Bruno in a straight swap. Looks as if Valencia will play with only three defenders and the Frenchman will act as a wing-back.
  • 66'
OH! Valencia finally find the killer pass as Feghouli finds an unmarked Soldado right in front of goal but the man who is usually ruthless inside the box heads well over the bar!!
  • 64'
Oh! Jonas breaks through on the right with some clever trickery but his cross ends up looking more like a shot and Moya comfortably collects.
  • 62'
Valencia can try and try again to break down Getafe's defence but without the final pass or 'killer assist' that they're desperately lacking at the moment, it's not going to happen.
  • 61'
    SubstitutionPablo Piatti Pablo Hernández
  • 60'
Emery finally makes a change. It's not Costa or Mathieu, but Pablo Hernandez who comes on for Piatti.
  • 58'
Oh!! Gavillan tests Guaita with a great strike from range. Difficult but controlled stop from the keeper.
  • 56'
Emery really needs to change things up here. Whether it's bringing in Tino Costa for Parejo or Jeremy Mathieu for the silent Piatti, he cannot hold off making a change for much longer.
  • 54'
Parejo's corner finds the head of a Getafe player. Shocker.
  • 52'
FUN FACT: Getafe is undefeated in three matches. If they avoid defeat twice more, they will match their best run of this campaign.
  • 51'
    Yellow Card Pablo Piatti
  • 50'
Piatti stops another threatening counterattack with a tactical foul and is booked.
  • 49'
Oh! The home side's counterattack results in a strike from outside the box by Lacen. It looked to have elevated in the last second before reaching the net and found the wrong side of Guaita's crossbar.
  • 48'
    Here come Getafe...
  • 48'
Feghouli and Soldado with a nice link-up play in the box but Moya pounces on the loose ball before the striker can reach it.
  • 46'
    Yellow Card Jordi Alba
  • 46'
Emery has not made a single change at the half. He must be real confident in the team that was dismantled in the first frame.
  • 45'
The referee blows the whistle and we're underway for the second-half at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
  • Join me in fifteen minutes for the second-half! In the meanwhile, give me your thoughts on this stunning first-half on Twitter @VicF77
  • An early opener from Soldado was cancelled out by three unanswered goals from Getafe. Pedro Rios equalised with a stunning header while Miku followed up with a header of his own. Bruno scored an own goal to stretch Getafe's lead to two.
  • 45'
    Yellow Card Roberto Soldado
  • 45'
The referee blows for half-time! At the half, Getafe have a comfortable 3-1 lead over Valencia.
  • 44'
Not bad this time from the Spaniard but his teammates could not get on the end of it.
  • 43'
Another free kick for Valencia. Let's see how close Parejo comes this time.
  • 41'
Parejo's set piece delivery has not been up to par. The midfielder sends another corner no where near his teammates while Tino Costa sighs and shakes his head on the bench.
  • 39'
Oh! Feghouli nearly misses on connecting with a cross from inside the box. Moya surely would've been threatened there.
  • 37'
The home side looks like tigers waiting to pounce on their prey. The azulones are sitting back, waiting to take advantage of Valencia's next error.
  • 35'
Once again, he visitors fail to threaten from a set-piece.
  • 34'
Another dangerous free kick for Valencia near the edge of the box. They really have to capitalise here.
  • 31'
Valencia are storming forward now, looking for a goal. They are leaving themselves wide open for another counterattack. This does not look good for Los Che.
  • 30'
    Assist Gavilán
  • 30'
    Own Goal Bruno
GETAFE DOES IT AGAIN! GOOOOOAAAALLL!!! BRUNO PUTS IT IN HIS OWN NET! GETAFE 3-1. Emery looks flabbergasted on the sidelines after Gavillan's free-kick bounced off of Bruno and at Guaita. The keeper made a point-blank save, directing the ball into the air but when it came down, it landed in the net.
  • 27'
    Yellow Card Bruno
  • 26'
Valencia's defence has been exposed time and time again in this match and the makeshift midfield that Emery is utilising isn't helping matters.
  • 24'
    Assist Gavilán
  • 24'
    Goal Miku
THERE IT IS! GOAAALLLLLLLLL!!!!! MIKU!! GETAFE 2-1!! Just like I warned, Getafe broke on a quick counterattack and Valencia were helpless! Gavillan was found open in the box but his effort was not properly struck. His shot fortunately found the head of Miku who did not make the same mistake and put his team up by a goal!
  • 21'
Feghouli nearly isolated himself in front of goal with some clever dribbling but Mane stopped the winger in his tracks!
  • 18'
Valencia looking as if they're about to add a second at any time now but don't count of Getafe who can do the same through the counterattack.
  • 16'
OH!! Soldado nearly had his second! After flicking past Lacen with some skill, the goal poacher attempted a second flick past Moya but was stopped with a great save!
  • 15'
A dangerous free-kick for Valencia on the edge of Getafe's box is cleared away by the home side's defence!
  • 13'
What a fantastic start to the match! Looks like we're in for another great game between these two sides.
  • 12'
    Assist Gavilán
  • 12'
    Goal Pedro Ríos
GOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLL!! RIOS!! GETAFE 1-1!! THIRD TIME IS THE CHARM! Working their way up-field for the first time since they conceding the goal, Gavillan found space in behind Bruno. With plenty of time, the speedy winger picked out Rios who majestically headed past Guaita to equalise!!
  • 9'
Tough challenge on Soldado from Miku, punishing the Spain international for his goal.
  • 7'
Just like that, Los Che has control of the match and will look to implement their possession-based style of play.
  • 5'
    Assist Jonas
  • 5'
    Goal Roberto Soldado
GOOOOAAAALL!!! OUT OF NOWHERE! SOLDADO!!! VALENCIA 1-0! The away side had been dominated by the hosts up until this point. Jonas skipped by three defenders and flicked the ball on to Soldado who blasted his strike past Moya, and into the top corner from close range.
  • 3'
Rios comes back right away and forces a save out of Guaita from a difficult angle. It's been Getafe in the early stages!!
  • 2'
Pedro Rios tries his luck from about 25 yards out but his shot sails well over the bar.
  • 1'
Getafe storms up the pitch and create some worry in Valencia's box with some clever passing in the final third. Miku nearly had a point-blank attempt at goal as a result.
  • 1'
  • In their last ten games, Valencia has only won three games. In the remaining seven, they have drawn four and lost three. Getafe has a similar record, having won four, drawn three, and lost three in their last ten.
  • Valencia won this fixture at the Mestalla earlier in the season by three goals to one in match that saw Sofiane Feghouli score twice.
  • Since 2009, Getafe has only won once against Valencia, being outscored 14-8 in six matches.
  • Looks like Unai Emery is changing the side quite drastically for tonight's game. The usual two men in the midfield, Tino Costa and Albelda, are beginning the game on the substitutes bench.
  • Valencia XI (4-2-3-1): Guaita; Bruno, Rami, Victor Ruiz, Jordi Alba; Parejo, Mehmet Topal; Sofianne Feghouli, Jonas, Pablo Piatti; Roberto Soldado
  • Getafe XI (4-2-3-1): Moya; Valera, Diaz, Alexis, Mane; Michel, Lacen; Pedro Rios, Diego Castro, Gavilan; Miku
  • Lineups are in!
