    Roman Weidenfeller

Barely tested all afternoon as Dortmund totally dominated the game. Was comfortable when called upon and did not put a foot wrong.

    Neven Subotic

Was face with very little to worry him defensively but did what he needed to with minimum fuss. He supplied an exquisite diagonal ball from deep to assist Lewandowski for his first goal.

  • Mats Hummels

    Mats Hummels

A solid performance from the centre-back. Tried to help aid the attack with some clever passes but his execution was just off. One of his easiest afternoon's this season.

  • Lukasz Piszczek

    Lukasz Piszczek

Was up and down the right wing all afternoon. He helped terrorise the Freiburg defence whilst not neglecting his defensive duties in keeping Caligiuri quiet.

  • Marcel Schmelzer

    Marcel Schmelzer

Hardly tested defensively and far less adventurous in attack than usual. Could have grabbed a goal in the second half but opted to attempt a pass instead.

  • Sebastian Kehl

    Sebastian Kehl

Policed the midfield all afternoon as he and Gundogan completely dictated everything that happened in the middle. Was strong in the challenge and enabled his team to keep the pressure on Freiburg relentlessly.

  • Jakub Blaszczykowski

    Jakub Blaszczykowski

Coupled with Piszczek they had the freedom of the right side and faced little resistance. His pace was key to both of his goals as he broke the line to provide two impressive finishes.

  • Kevin Großkreutz

    Kevin Großkreutz

Pushed the line from the right flank but was caught offside a few times when he really should not have been. Did not really have a decisive impact on the game.

  • Ilkay Gündogan

    Ilkay Gündogan

Was there to pick up every loose ball in midfield and turned one into an assist for the opening goal. Continued his supreme recent performance as he played it simple all afternoon and worked his socks off.

  • Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski Top of the Match

A typically classy performance from the Pole. Showed his fantastic close control with the ball for his first goal and his poacher's instinct on the second. Unlucky not to get his hat-trick as he hit the woodwork twice in the second half.

  • Shinji Kagawa

    Shinji Kagawa

Looked extremely off the pace until he played a great ball over the top for Kuba to net his second goal. His touch just was not there on the day and was taken off in the 65th minute.

Substitutions

  • Mario Götze

    Mario Götze

Looked lively when he came on and added a bit more impetus into an ailing BVB attack in the second half.

  • Ivan Perisic

    Ivan Perisic

A fairly ineffectual performance from the bench as he struggled to get involved and his touch deserted him when he did.

  • L. Barrios

    L. Barrios

Was given just 10 minutes for his farewell to the Signal-Iduna-Park and had little impact on the game.

  • Daniel Batz

Daniel Batz Flop of the Match

Offered minimal protection on all the goals as his defence were torn to shreds. He could have done better on all the goals but he was far too exposed to have made a difference to the match.

  • Mensur Mujdza

    Mensur Mujdza

Turned inside out by Lewandowski for the Pole's first goal and offered little resistance down the flank as his team struggled to make anything of the game.

  • Oliver Sorg

    2.50

    Oliver Sorg

Was absolutely torn apart by Kuba and Piszczek. He failed to track Kuba on the game's opener and then allowed the Dortmund right-back to cut inside him all to easily in the build up for the third.

  • Matthias Ginter

    Matthias Ginter

Allowing far too much space between his defensive partner which handed BVB numerous opportunities. Possibly one of the worst defensive displays in the first half but the hosts took it easy on them in the second half in comparison.

  • Immanuel Höhn

    Immanuel Höhn

It was an awful afternoon for the Freiburg defence and the centre-backs were at fault for two of the goals. Firstly they failed to pick Lewandowski up in the area and he then allowed Kuba the freedom of the middle for the fourth.

  • Cedrick Makiadi

    2.50

    Cedrick Makiadi

Kept the play flowing as much as he could when Freiburg had possession but committed forwards far too frequently and eagerly, contributing to his side's downfall.

  • Jan Rosenthal

    2.00

    Jan Rosenthal

Ineffectual but was withdrawn after just 30 minutes in order to get a grip on the midfield battle.

  • Jonathan Schmid

    2.50

    Jonathan Schmid

Non-existent in the first half but offered more to his side after the break. He wasted a good chance just after the hour mark when he saw his effort saved by Weidenfeller.

  • Karim Guédé
    0
    0
    2.50

    Karim Guédé

Made some strong challenges but again was far too eager to get push on with his team struggling to cope in midfield. Provided more of a threat with the introduction of an extra midfielder but ultimately let his side down.

  • Daniel Caligiuri

    0
    2.50

    Daniel Caligiuri

Was not strong enough in possession but continued to offer his team outlet on the left. Switched to the right for the second half but still had little joy.

  • Sebastian Freis

    2.50

    Sebastian Freis

With his team penned back in their own half for much of the first 45 he could do little to appease the pressure as the lone striker and never truly tested Weidenfeller.

Substitutions

  • Andreas Hinkel

    Andreas Hinkel

Came on in the 82nd minute with the game already decided.

  • Anton Putsila

Played just over 10 minutes and had little opportunity to make an impact on the game.

  • Johannes Flum

    Johannes Flum

Was brought in with just half an hour played in order to tighten up his side's midfield. He managed to do that as only one more goal was conceded after his introduction.
