Player Ratings: Norwich City 0-3 Liverpool

Luis Suarez scored a wonderful hat-trick to help the Reds to a comfortable victory as the Canaries missed a chance to draw level in the table with Kenny Dalglish's side

    John Ruddy

Could do little about Suarez's first two goals. May not like to have been beaten from that distance by the third, but the Uruguayan's chip was near enough perfect.

Hauled off with an injury early on in the first half.

Elliot Ward Flop of the Match

Robbed by Suarez in his own half in the build-up to the second goal and repeated the trick just minutes later. Not his finest day, and the crowd let him know about it. Struggled to deal with Suarez all game, and was again at fault as the Uruguayan bagged his hat-trick.

  • Kyle Naughton

    Kyle Naughton

Dealt with Downing well. Perhaps pushed a little too high up the pitch at times, which gave Suarez space to run into and did not make Ward's day any easier.

  • Ryan Bennett

    Ryan Bennett

More comfortable than his partner with the nimble Suarez. Wasn't drawn into the same kind of mistakes being made around him.

  • Bradley Johnson

    Bradley Johnson

Tried to play with some positivity, driving forward from a deep position in midfield, but too often played ambitious passes that didn't come off. His effort can't be faulted, however.

  • Anthony Pilkington

    Anthony Pilkington

Norwich's biggest threat early on. Looked like he could get the better of Carragher eventually if he persisted, but his supply dried up as Liverpool took control of the game.

  • David Fox

    David Fox

So often mistake-free at the base of midfield, he was guilty of coughing up possession in a bad position in the build-up to the first goal. Gerrard and Suarez took advantage.

  • Elliott Bennett

    Elliott Bennett

Virtually anonymous. Did not show enough to desire to receive the ball and run at his man and it was a surprise to see him stay on the pitch for so long.

  • Jonny Howson

    3.00

    Jonny Howson

Had good individual moments of passing and tackling in midfield but didn't seem totally sure of his role, especially in the first half. He is a good player but Lambert still seems to be trying to figure out how to best deploy him.

  • Steve Morison

    Steve Morison

Held up the ball well early on but like Pilkington, faded as his service dried up. His long goalscoring drought continues.

    Russell Martin

Did a solid job against Bellamy. Was always going to struggle for pace against the Welshman and he was intelligent to recognise that and defend in an appropriate style.

  • James Vaughan

    James Vaughan

Tried to stretch the Liverpool defence with his pace but was fairly easily kept to less than dangerous areas of the pitch.

  • Grant Holt

    Grant Holt

Brought on in the second half as a last roll of the dice but even the hero of the Canaries supporters could not bring them back into this game.

  • José Reina Paez

    José Reina Paez

Not particularly busy. He met a couple of long-range efforts solidly but they were shots he would expect to save.

  • Glen Johnson

    3.00

    Glen Johnson

Didn't really have a winger to mark, as Pilkington cut inside rather than attacking him from the touchline. Got forward to reasonable effect, although his deliveries weren't always first class.

  • José Enrique

    José Enrique

Enjoyed a relatively comfortable afternoon. Wasn't overly tested by Elliott Bennett and so able to support Bellamy on the left-hand side. Provided a cross that Shelvey should have converted in the second half.

  • Daniel Agger

    Daniel Agger

Cool, calm and composed at centre-back. Norwich tended to stay away from him, because he mopped up everything that did come his way without issue.

  • Jamie Carragher

    Jamie Carragher

It seemed Norwich had identified the experienced defender as the weak link in Liverpool's back four because they consistently aimed their attacks in his direction. They weren't successful - Carragher was near enough flawless.

  • Steven Gerrard

    Steven Gerrard

On hand to punish Fox for his first half mishap, supplying Suarez for the first goal of the game. Looked a threat on the break and as a late arrival in the penalty area, one such run resulting in a shot that was blocked on its way to hitting the back of the net.

  • Jordan Henderson

    Jordan Henderson

Tidy in a deeper central midfield position. Offered a passing option and distributed the ball well.

  • Stewart Downing

    Stewart Downing

Never looked like he had the confidence to take his man on and as a result he struggled to find space. Defended responsibly and didn't overcomplicate his passing. Managed to turn Naughton on one occasion, and forced a good save from Ruddy.

  • Jonjo Shelvey

    Jonjo Shelvey

Generally, the game seemed to pass him by a little but he showed glimpses he was doing the right sort of things. Made a good run into the box in the second half, but didn't get solid contact on Enrique's cross from point blank range.

  • Luis Suárez

Luis Suárez Top of the Match

The Uruguayan bagged a simply brilliant hat-trick. His chances may have come courtesy of Norwich mistakes but he still had plenty to do in order to take advantage of them, his first finish in particular superbly taken on his left foot. Saved his best, though, for last, chipping Ruddy from just inside the Norwich half to complete a wonderful treble.

  • Craig Bellamy

    Craig Bellamy

Busy as ever in the first half but seemed to fade as the game wore on. Didn't receive a great deal of support on his side of the pitch.

    Dirk Kuyt

Chased down the Norwich defenders as a lone striker late in the game.
