  Robbed by Suarez in his own half in the build-up to the second goal and repeated the trick just minutes later. Not his finest day, and the crowd let him know about it. Struggled to deal with Suarez all game, and was again at fault as the Uruguayan bagged his hat-trick.

  Dealt with Downing well. Perhaps pushed a little too high up the pitch at times, which gave Suarez space to run into and did not make Ward's day any easier.

  Tried to play with some positivity, driving forward from a deep position in midfield, but too often played ambitious passes that didn't come off. His effort can't be faulted, however.

  Norwich's biggest threat early on. Looked like he could get the better of Carragher eventually if he persisted, but his supply dried up as Liverpool took control of the game.

  So often mistake-free at the base of midfield, he was guilty of coughing up possession in a bad position in the build-up to the first goal. Gerrard and Suarez took advantage.

  Virtually anonymous. Did not show enough to desire to receive the ball and run at his man and it was a surprise to see him stay on the pitch for so long.

  Had good individual moments of passing and tackling in midfield but didn't seem totally sure of his role, especially in the first half. He is a good player but Lambert still seems to be trying to figure out how to best deploy him.

  Enjoyed a relatively comfortable afternoon. Wasn't overly tested by Elliott Bennett and so able to support Bellamy on the left-hand side. Provided a cross that Shelvey should have converted in the second half.

  It seemed Norwich had identified the experienced defender as the weak link in Liverpool's back four because they consistently aimed their attacks in his direction. They weren't successful - Carragher was near enough flawless.

  On hand to punish Fox for his first half mishap, supplying Suarez for the first goal of the game. Looked a threat on the break and as a late arrival in the penalty area, one such run resulting in a shot that was blocked on its way to hitting the back of the net.

  Never looked like he had the confidence to take his man on and as a result he struggled to find space. Defended responsibly and didn't overcomplicate his passing. Managed to turn Naughton on one occasion, and forced a good save from Ruddy.

  Generally, the game seemed to pass him by a little but he showed glimpses he was doing the right sort of things. Made a good run into the box in the second half, but didn't get solid contact on Enrique's cross from point blank range.

  Luis Suárez Top of the Match

  The Uruguayan bagged a simply brilliant hat-trick. His chances may have come courtesy of Norwich mistakes but he still had plenty to do in order to take advantage of them, his first finish in particular superbly taken on his left foot. Saved his best, though, for last, chipping Ruddy from just inside the Norwich half to complete a wonderful treble.
