Battling Baggies stun the Premier League leaders as Roberto Mancini's men fail to score in a league game for the first time this season to open the title race wide-open once more
Despite Man City spending large periods in the West Brom box Foster was forced into action very rarely. Nonetheless a very assured display.

Jonas Olsson
Forming a water-tight defence alongside McAuley and dealt with the threat of Aguero well. Won numerous headers in the oppositions area against a giant Man City backline.

Nicky Shorey
Linked up well with Brunt as they countered Man City well. Was rarely wasteful in possession and was solid in defence.

Gareth McAuley
A fantastic last ditch tackle on Aguero early on in the second-half was the highlight of a fine defensive display. Backs against the wall for large periods but was faultless throughout.

Billy Jones
In for the injured Reid at right-back and put in a full blooded shift. Not your typical full-back, his priority is defending and he kept to his task admirably.

Chris Brunt
Had West Brom’s best chance in the first half with a well struck effort from the edge of the area but it was an afternoon spent in his own half as helped Shorey quell Nasri.

Jerome Thomas
Top of the Match
Was West Brom’s star man as he ran at the Man City defence and shot on sight. Went agonisingly close with an effort in the second-half that hit the post and supplied a pin-point cross for Long that should have broken the deadlock.

Youssouf Mulumbu
Got around the pitch well and is certainly more than an anchor man in midfield. He had little of the ball as to be expected against Man City but was rarely wasteful when granted the opportunity

Paul Scharner
A lot of defensive work from the charismatic Austrian and stopped Toure from dominating. Ran tirelessly throwing his body in every tackle.

Shane Long
Worked his socks off upfront with little help. Nearly got on the end of a cross in the first-half but it was a game of very few chances.
Rarely troubled in the first half but was very lucky to see Jerome Thomas’ strike in the second-half come off the woodwork as he grasped at mid-air. Other than that it was a comfortable afternoon for the England keeper.

Vincent Kompany
A typically assured display from the captain who appears to deal with things in slow motion. Has become the leader in the Man City side and was a colossus as he barked orders to his team-mates.

Pablo Zabaleta
Got forward well and was very steady in defence but like the rest of his teammates he lacked the creativity to break down the hosts

Gael Clichy
Was allowed plenty of space throughout but offered little threat going forward.

Kolo Toure
Got the nod over Lescott and will be satisfied with the display. Had a nervy moment in the first half as he slipped with Long harrying but all in all a good defensive display.

James Milner
A surprise inclusion over Barry and was disappointing as he struggled to gain any authority in midfield. Was not helped as he was pushed out to the wing in the second-half but was largely disappointing.

Samir Nasri
Always wanted the ball and had plenty of it but struggled to find that killer pass and was substituted midway through the second-half.

David Silva
Makes everything tick for Man City but West Brom got men behind the ball to make it a tough afternoon for the Spaniard.

Yaya Touré
Full of running in midfield as Man City dominated possession though was up against Scharner who appeared to want the game a bit more than his midfield counterpart.

Sergio Agüero
Substituted in the second-half hugely frustrated after being shackled superbly by McAuley and Olsson. Will have few harder afternoons than this.

Mario Balotelli
Dropped deep looking to get more of the ball. Had a goal disallowed for offside but other than that was marshalled well by the West Brom defenders.

Adam Johnson
Brought on as Mancini looked for an impact from the in-form winger but was never offered the opportunity to run at Shorey.

Gareth Barry
Came on in the second-half for Nasri to a chorus of boos due to his Aston Villa connections but as to be expected he anchored the Man City midfield with an assurance that is his trademark

Edin Dzeko
Came on for Ageuro but was hardly involved despite Man City lumping balls up to the giant Bosnian. The early season form now seems a very distant memory.
