Live Commentary

  • Fulltime at the Liberty Stadium. United grab yet another away win, maintaining their unbeaten start away from home this season. Swansea will be disappointed they couldn't grab a draw, but in truth, United were more than worth their victory and could have added a couple more goal. Thanks for joining me this evening, enjoy your evenings.
  • 90' + 3'
Very close to a second for United! United shift the ball across the edge of the area with Rooney finding Nani, but the winger's low curling effort goes just wide of Vorm's left post.
  • 89'
Jones hits the post! The defender charged forward before giving posssession to Valencia, but Jones continued his run and received the ball once again from the Ecuadorian, but his strike cannons off the foot of the far post.
  • 88'
Rooney tries his luck from the edge of the box, but a ricochet brings him into the area, but his chipped effort lands on the top of the net. Should have squared the ball for Nani.
  • 87'
Nani takes a corner, and it almost finds it's way in, but Williams' touch it put behind for another corner. The second wasn't much better.
  • 85'
Park almost creates a chance for United as Nani's shot lands in the South Korean's path, before the midfielder plays a low-ball to the back post, but Rooney can't quite get there is time.
  • 84'
    SubstitutionJavier Hernández Antonio Valencia
  • 84'
Dobbie looks to play in Dyer, but some good defending from Fabio just eases the winger out of danger. The Brazilian has played Dyer pretty well since coming on for Evra.
  • 80'
United have created precious little in this second half, but that is undoubtedly down to their inclination to sit-back and make Swansea force the issue.
  • 79'
    SubstitutionMark Gower Stephen Dobbie
  • 77'
Risky header by Carrick there as the midfielder heads the ball over Vidic and Ferdinand, back to De Gea, but the Spaniard gathers the ball before Graham can get to it.
  • 76'
    SubstitutionRyan Giggs Darren Fletcher
  • 76'
United making their second change as Wales legend Ryan Giggs comes off to a chorus of clapping from most sides of the Liberty stadium.
  • 73'
Good play by Sinclair as he beats Rooney down the left before cutting the ball back into the area for Graham, but Carrick gets a block in, and then Williams strikes, but this time Ferdinand blocks.
  • 71'
Swansea with a free-kick in a dangerous position following Fabio's foul on Gower.
  • 69'
Rooney with another attempt from range, this time volleying after being laid off by Nani's chest-pass, but despite a tricky bounce right in front of him, Vorm collects with relative ease.
  • 66'
Swansea on the attack again as Sinclair's cross finds it's way to the far post where Dyer beats Fabio in the air, although he was clearly fouling the Brazilian.
  • 63'
Rooney tries his luck from 30 yards, but Vorm deals with it very easily as it bounces into his arms.
  • 62'
Park delivers a good cross from the left, but Hernandez can't quite get his head to it as Williams gets their first.
  • 58'
Giggs plays a lofted ball into the area, but Rooney collides with Vorm, leaving the England striker in a heap on the floor. Thankfully he isn't truly hurt and is only winded.
  • 55'
Brave header from Vidic! Gower's corner is headed goalwards by Monk, but before Sinclair can divert it into the goal, the Serbian flies across, heading the ball behind.
  • 54'
Good pressure from the hosts. Danny Graham almost connects with an over-head kick, but the presence of Vidic and Ferdinand thwarts the danger for a moment.
  • 53'
Swansea certainly doing a better job of halting United's attacks so far in this second half. The introduction of Joe Allen may have helped that.
  • 51'
    SubstitutionPatrice Evra Fabio Da Silva
  • 51'
Manchester United are now making their first change of the match as the yellow-carded Evra makes way for Brazilian international Fabio da Silva. Safe move from Ferguson there, with Evra already having a tricky match against Dyer.
  • 50'
Almost a brilliant counter-attack from United as Rooney finds Hernandez over the top, but the Mexican's first touch deserted him at the last second.
  • 49'
Sinclair wins a corner as his shot is saved well by De Gea and put behind.
  • 48'
Hernandez puts the ball in the back of the net, but before the ball even got to him, the linesman had his flag up.
  • 47'
    Yellow Card Patrice Evra
  • 47'
First yellow card of the match as Patrice Evra clips Nathan Dyer. Could be a tough 43 minutes for the Frenchman now.
  • 46'
    SubstitutionWayne Routledge Joe Allen
  • 46'
Apologies if I couldn't fit in your thoughts, but the second half is back underway at the Liberty Stadium!
  • Personally, I can't say I agree with that because you only need to look at his performance against Liverpool a few weeks ago where he was colossal.
  • Haven't had too much feedback in regards to Swansea's chances, but @DonTererai certainly isn't sure about the abilities of a certain United defender: "Ferdinand has passed his sale-by date.United will win but Rio has certainly lost it"
  • Halftime at the Liberty stadium and United lead thanks to Hernandez's 11th minute strike, but they arguably should be level after Sinclair's shocking miss. The hosts were undoubtedly second-place throughout the first half, with United's midfield being given so much time. What do you think Swansea have to do to get something out of this match? Send your thoughts to @RyRyBenson on twitter.
  • 45'
United probably should have doubled their advantage there! Rooney plays Hernandez in, and although the Mexican could have shot himself, he looked to play the ball back into the danger area, but put way too much on it, giving Rooney little chance.
  • 44'
Swansea ensuring they finish the first-half with a spell of possession and pressure, but unless they can create some openings, they won't score this evening. They have really struggled to create chances thus far.
  • 41'
Tentative shouts for handball from the Swansea fans as Sinclair's shot is fired in towards a body of players, but Mike Dean wasn't interested.
  • 39'
Embarrassing moment for Nani there as the winger cuts inside, gives a step-over to beat Taylor, but then his left footed shot goes out for a throw-in. Hasn't been his day yet.
  • 38'
Ferdinand stupidly commits himself on the halfway line and is beaten by Dyer. Ball finds it's way into the area, but Jones is forced to put it behind as the far post.
  • 37'
Interesting from Rooney as the England striker tries his luck from some 40 yards, but it was well wide.
  • 35'
Giggs takes it, but his attempt is narrowly wide.
  • 34'
Hernandez wins a free-kick in a very dangerous area, just outside the Swansea penalty area. Rooney, Giggs and Nani all standing over it.
  • 31'
United really slowing the tempo of the match here. Every time they get the ball in their half, Ferdinand, Vidic and De Gea really slow it down.
  • 29'
Swansea look to catch United on the break as Routledge and Dyer try to cause Evra problems, but the Frenchman easily deals with it and finds De Gea.
  • 28'
Rooney and Giggs try to link up as the Welsh midfielder tries a chipped ball through the Swansea defence, but Rangel intercepts.
  • 26'
It is fair to say that Neil Taylor has dealt well with Nani thus far. The Portuguese star has had little joy from the Welsh left-back, but the former Sporting man has more than enough ability to create something out of nothing.
  • 24'
@NirmalVallathai is optimistic of a United win, believing Chicharito and Nani will see them cruise to a Rooney-inspired 2-0 win. So far so good in that respect.
  • 22'
What a chance, and what a miss from Sinclair! Graham did well to play in Routledge whose shot found it's way to Sinclair thanks to a Ferdinand block, but he couldn't control the ball properly. As he swung for the ball, it struck his other leg. Had he connected properly, it would have been a certain goal.
  • 20'
The visitors are looking very much in control here as they dictate the tempo of the match entirely, but don't rule out the Swans yet!
  • 17'
Nathan Dyer has had a brilliant start to this match so far, always looking to beat his man, and more often than not, he has succeeded. The diminutive winger has immensely quick feet on the ball.
  • 16'
United look to counter-attack against Swansea, but Hernandez is forced to slow down the play as he finds Carrick. United looking for another spell of pressure here.
  • 15'
Free-kick to Swansea, thirty yards out as Nani fouls Gower. The hosts take it quickly and eventually win a corner.
  • 12'
That goal is a massive blow to Swansea who started very brightly, but Rangel's carelessness was punished well by United.
  • 11'
    Assist Ryan Giggs
  • 11'
    Goal Javier Hernández
  • 11'
GOAL!!!!! And it is Hernandez who gives United the lead! Rangel gave the ball to Giggs just outside the Swansea area, and the Welshman made him pay as he charged into the area and swept the ball in towards Hernandez who flicked the ball up and over Vorm.
  • 9'
Patrice Evra loses the possession to Dyer in a dangerous area near the left-hand corner in United's half. The Frenchman is undoubtedly one of United's most criticised players so far this term, and he isn't helping himself here.
  • 7'
Certainly a very nice, open feel to this match so far. Both sides look intent on attacking, which is great news for those of us watching.
  • 5'
Monk lucky to escape a booking there as the Swans' captain blatantly brought down Hernandez on the left wing after the little Mexican produced a brilliant touch to beat him.
  • 4'
Decent chance for Gower there as Rangel's cross is only cleared to the edge of the box, but the midfielder's volley cannons of the floor and well wide.
  • 3'
Some encouraging play from Swansea there. They did well to break against United as Dyer got down the right before crossing to Sinclair at the back post, but Jones does well to cover and stop Sinclair as he was about to shoot.
  • 2'
After a few moment of possession, United already have Swansea hanging back in their own area.
  • 1'
We're underway at the Liberty Stadium!
  • Feel free to send me your thoughts throughout the match. What do you think the score will be? Who do you think will be key for either side?
  • No other team has scored at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League this season with the only goal Swansea have conceded at home being a Danny Graham own-goal.
  • Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson has made three changes from the side that beat Sunderland 1-0 as David De Gea comes back in for Anders Lindegaard, Danny Welbeck is replaced by Michael Carrick as Wayne Rooney reverts to his usual role up front, and Ryan Giggs comes in for Darren Fletcher.
  • Brendan Rodgers makes just the one change from the 0-0 draw against Liverpool before the international break, with Scott Sinclair coming in for Joe Allen who takes a place on the bench.
  • The United team is: De Gea; Jones, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra; Park, Nani, Carrick, Giggs; Hernandez, Rooney Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Young, Fabio, Fletcher, Valencia, Berbatov
  • The Swansea team for the match is: Vorm, Rangel, Monk, Williams, Taylor, Gower, Britton, Dyer, Routledge, Sinclair, Graham Subs: Dobbie, Lita, Moore, Allen, Tremmel, Richards, Moras
