  Lumbered rather than powered his way forward. Still effective on the ball and looked to feed Tevez and Silva when possible. Over-hit simple pass at start of second-half to prevent Tevez having a presentable chance to grab a fourth. Visibly unfit after a throat infection, he made way for Dzeko early in the second period.

  Third hat-trick of his City career was bookened by two penalties. That he still had the confidence to strike both in was praiseworthy after his last two failed efforts from the spot. Highlight of the game was undoubtedly his smart one-two with Silva and calm finish for his second goal. Refused to ceded any ground to Dimitar Berbatov in the battle to be crowned Premier League top scorer. Given standing ovation when taken off for Wright-Phillips.
