AC Milan

Christian Abbiati and Luca Antonini are out injured, although coach Massimiliano Allegri has declared Zlatan Ibrahimovic to be fit to play.

The coach should once again deploy a 4-3-3 formation that will feature Alexandre Pato on the right, Ibrahimovic in the centre and Ronaldinho on the left. Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo and Clarence Seedorf are likely to be the three midfielders.

Possible Starting XI: Amelia; Abate, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Zambrotta; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Pato, Ibrahimovic, Ronaldinho.

Chievo

Luciano Siqueira and Marcos de Paula will miss the trip to Milan because of injuries. Sergio Pellissier and Davide Moscardelli will be the two strikers upfront in a 4-3-1-2 formation.

Possible Starting XI: Sorrentino; Frey, Andreolli, Mandelli, Sardo; Bentivoglio, Rigoni, Marcolini; Bogliacino; Pellissier, Moscardelli.

Claiming pole position

Milan are the only club among the top four in Serie A playing on Saturday and have a great chance to go top of the table with a victory over Chievo at San Siro.

The Rossoneri have 11 points from six matches and are just two points behind leaders Lazio, who are not in action until Sunday evening.

The San Siro giants will have an eye on midweek's action in the Champions League, when they travel to Spain to take on Real Madrid but Allegri will still be keen to garner maximum points against the Flying Donkeys.

Milan haven't made an exceptional start to the season and have looked vulnerable on several occasions, but slip-ups from their Scudetto rivals have made things better for the former Italian and European champions.

Going top again

Chievo were top of Serie A at one stage this season and are still very much in with a chance of competing for a top four place. At the moment they lie fifth in the table with 10 points from six games, one behind Milan and three off the top.

However, Stefano Pioli's side haven't won in their last two league fixtures and will need to step up their game if they foster ambition of winning in Milan.

The Rossoneri are very strong at home but, surprisingly, Chievo have shown form on their travels, having won both their games away from Verona.

For Chievo, staving off relegation should still be the ultimate aim this campaign and picking up even a point on Saturday would offer the visitors huge encouragement.
