FULL TIME! It's all over, and MAHINDRA WIN! Sporting were leading 1-0 with three minutes of regulation time remaining, but two headed goals by Thoi Singh and Paresh Shivalkar has given them the three points! Sporting did well in the first half, but looked only to defend in the second, and brought the result upon themselves. Final Score: Mahindra United 2 Sporting Clube de Goa 1.
90′ +3
What a turnaround this has been! 87 minutes into the game, and Mahindra were looking at their first defeat, but Steven Dias, with two superb crosses, has given them what must be a win.
90′ +1
GOAL!!! MAHINDRA HAVE DONE IT!! Heartbreak for Sporting, as Shivalkar heads home Steven Dias' corner to give Mahindra the win! Dias delivered perfectly once again, and Shivalkar, who was unmarked, bent low, and guided the ball into the back of the net from between Barreto's legs!
90′ +1
Goal Paresh Shivalkar
90′
SAVED!! It's Thoi again, who latches onto a long ball and fires from a tight angle, but Barreto parries it away for a corner!
88′
GOAL!!! THOI SINGH GETS THE EQUALIZER! Rovan and Sushil collide, and with the left back down, Steven Dias has a lot of time on the right to get his cross in, and he sends in a beauty for Thoi Singh to head home from close range! Sporting will be devastated!! So close to their first win! But they only have themselves to blame, as they've looked only to defend in this half.
88′
Goal Thoi Singh
86′
Yellow Card Thoi Singh
86′
Ooo horrible tackle! Thoi Singh goes in late for the ball and catches Steven Fernandes on the leg with his knee. The Sporting lad rolls about in pain, but should continue now after receiving treatment.
84′
OHH!! CLOSE!! Junior plays the ball to Joseph, who keeps his cool to play in Steven on the right. The substitute could have crossed it to the far post for Joseph, but he fires in an absolute bullet of a shot, which goes just wide of the far post!
83′
What a waste! Junior receives the ball on the right, and could have played in Amos, who made a nice run down the flank, but he cut in and went for goal from distance, which was way wide.
81′
Mahindra will feel that they have done enough in the second half to earn a goal, but have there been any clear chances? Not really. Not cutting edge in the final third for the Mumbai side.
79′
Substitution
Denzil Franco
Thoi Singh
79′
That was very lazy from Bibiano! He won the ball in his own half and ran with the ball towards the Mahindra goal. However, he dwelt on the ball for way too long even though he had three players ahead of him. Needless to say, he lost the ball, much to the frustration of Nathaniel Amos.
77′
Oh! Steven plays a long ball into the box looking for Rafi, and finds him too, but the striker misjudges the flight of the ball and can't get his head to it!
75′
The hosts get into a dangerous position as Rafi receives the ball just outside the Sporting area, and tries to play it across to Sushil, but the youngster just overruns a bit, and the ball ricochets off his heel, and Sporting clear.
74′
Substitution
Bisheshwor Singh
Steven Fernandes
73′
Mahindra look to counter down the left as Ajayan plays a ball to Paresh, but Mathew Gonsalves, who has been superb today, comes out to clear for a throw.
72′
Mahindra are staring at their first defeat in the I-League at the moment, whereas Sporting are looking to win their first game.
69′
Substitution
Michael Tayo
Bibiano Fernandes
69′
Poor delivery from the corner by Joseph Pereira! It bounced before the first defender.
68′
Corner to Sporting! Joseph Pereira's cross for Amos is headed out by Ravanan. This gives Sporting their chance to make a sub, as Bibiano Fernandes comes on for Michael Tayo.
67′
Steven Dias lets it rip, and fires a powerful, flat shot straight at Barreto, who punches clear!
66′
Another free kick for Mahindra! This time it's Sveto whose fancy footwork wins him the setpiece on the left.
63′
Substitution
Muritala Ali
Mohammed Rafi
63′
Mohammed Rafi is now preparing to come on. Whom will he replace? Surprise, surprise! It's Muritala, who goes off without even welcoming Rafi onto the pitch.
62′
That was a lucky break for Rovan, who handled the ball needlessly! Sporting have looked nervous in this half.
61′
PENALTY? YES? NO? NO! A lot of confusion there, as Rovan Pereira seemed to handle the ball inside the penalty box, and the referee saw it, but the linesman waved for offside just before that, as Steven Dias was lurking behind the Sporting defence!
59′
Steven Dias curls another one into the box from way out, and Muritala leaps high enough to win the header, but send sit over. Tough to get any pace on that header, as the cross lacked any.
57′
Svetozar is too slow to be effective on a regular basis. He's hardly done anything today, and even though he's good on the ball, his work-rate throughout the game is extremely poor.
56′
Barreto receiving treatment now, after colliding with Sushil Kumar at a cross. He landed awkwardly, I think, as he's having a problem with his ankle.
55′
BIG CHANCE! Steven Dias curls in an absolute beauty of a free kick from the right flank, but Muritala can't decided whether to head or volley, the ball goes out off his chest!
52′
That should have been a booking! Ravanan tugs at Junior's shirt as he looks to turn away from the defence. The foul is given, and Ravanan throws the ball away, but still, nothing!
51′
Purposeful start to the half from Mahindra, as they look to equalize.
50′
Steven Dias with the free kick this time, but the wall does well to block the shot! Tayo is down on the ground, so I assume it was him who blocked Dias' strike. He gets up, and is ready to continue.
49′
Free kick in similar range to Mahindra again, as Tayo now shoves Sushil Kumar to the ground! The Goans must keep their cool here!
48′
Poor free kick! Svetozar tries to curl it inside the far post, but the shot's very weak, and bounces to Barreto.
47′
Yellow Card Elvino Robert Rodrigues
47′
Free kick to Mahindra 20 yards from goal! Muritala is gifted the ball and he runs towards goal, but Elvino hauls him down with a blatant foul. He's booked as well.
46′
Here we go again!
45′ +2
Half Time! It's been a very, very good first half, with some superb football, all thanks to Sporting Clube de Goa! Some Samba football from the Goans sees them lead 1-0 going into the break, as Junior pounced on Kali Alaudeen's mistake to score. Subhashish should have done better with his save as well at the goal. Join us in 15 minutes for the second half!
45′ +1
Mahindra try and respond immediately, mainly through Steven Dias, who gets in one or two crosses into the box, but Sporting manage to deal with it.
44′
GOAL!!! JUNIOR SCORES! A long ball from Kenji goes beyond the Sporting strikers, and Alaudeen looks to clear on the volley facing the goal, but he slips and misses the ball! Junior is alert enough, and fires in a shot from the edge of the area! Subhashish gets a good hand to it, but can't prevent it from going in! 1-0!
44′
Goal Junior Obagbemiro
42′
Chance for Mahindra now, as Steven Dias crosses well from the right, but Sushil doesn't make any real connection with his header at the near post!
41′
Ohh, good stuff again! A ball is played towards Joseph just outside the area, but he does a dummy and leaves it for Junior behind him. The skipper lays it back off to Joseph, who tries to dink the ball over the defence to find Amos' run, but it's too close to Subhashish! Lovely football!
40′
Sporting have been the better side this half, for sure. Some of their football has been very un-Indian.
38′
Ajayan looks to send Sushil clear with a through ball, but the striker doesn't bother to chase!
35′
Chance for Mahindra!! Muritala tries to control a cross into the box from the right, but can't do it, and Sushil Kumar pounces on the loose ball just about 8 yards from goal, but Mathew Gonsalves comes up with a brave block!
32′
AMOS!! BAD MISS!! A clever throw in plays him into the box from the left, and as Alaudeen loses his footing, Amos has a clear shot on goal, but he drags it wide of the near post! Terrible shot in the end!
30′
Not so much, in the end, as the striker gets up to continue.
29′
Muritala Ali is down injured, holding his thigh. Dangerous signs for Mahindra here.
27′
That attempt was reminiscent of Emmanuel Adebayor's superb volleyed goal against Spurs at White Hart Lane a season or two ago. Never thought I'd be mentioning Adebayor twice during a match between Mahindra and Sporting.
26′
GREAT SAVE!! But what a shot from Junior! Bisheshwor crosses from the right, Junior comes to the edge of the area to receive it with a first touch that sets up a volley, and he fires a superb one in on the turn, but Subhashish leaps to his right to collect it just as it seemed to be sneaking inside the far post! What an outrageous attempt!
24′
SAVED! Lovely move from Sporting!! Bisheshwor goes on a mazy run down the right and cuts it back to Amos, who receives the ball and sends it across to Junior at the edge of the area. The skipper takes one touch to create space and fires in a nice shot, but it's well saved by Subhashish! Impressive from Sporting!
23′
Mahindra with a free kick in "Steven Dias territory", but the winger curls his effort wide.
21′
The trio of Joseph Pereira, Junior, and Amos have been playing some very pretty football so far. Their interplay has been fantastic.
19′
Very good play from Sporting again! Junior receives the ball on the left, and plays it in to Joseph, who holds the ball superbly before playing in Amos into the box, but the striker is off side! Junior was brought down by Denzil with a late challenge, but the ref waved advantage. However, no booking for the fullback after play stopped too.
18′
Very good ball from Sushant, who sends Denzil free on the right, but his cross for Muritala is intercepted and collected by Barreto.
16′
Free kick on the left to Mahindra, after Svetozar was brought down by Mathew Gonsalves.
15′
For all those who haven't seen Amos play, the player he reminds you of instantly is Emmanuel Adebayor. Very similar in style, these two.
14′
Sporting are doing really well at the moment, particularly Amos, who is causing a few problems in the Mahindra defence with his awkward, leggy style.
12′
OVER!! Amos again, who receives the ball just outside the Mahindra penalty area, and goes for a powerful shot from distance, but it's off target! Sporting have come alive, all of a sudden.
11′
Two chances go to waste! Junior floats in an inch-perfect cross into the box for Amos, who chests it and tries to flick it over his man, but eventually takes too much time, and Bisheswor's shot from his layoff is blocked for a corner. Bishshwor has a free header at the corner as well, but sends it over!
9′
Oh dear!! Skipper Ajayan receives the ball all of 35 yards out, and instead of using the space in front of him, he goes for goal, and fires well wide.
8′
Sporting win a free kick on the left, which is taken by Joseph Pereira, but Mahindra clear. However, Amos wins it back, but Joseph takes on the loose ball first up, and volleys from 25 yards out, which is way too easy for Subhashish.
6′
CHANCE WASTED!! Beautiful football from Mahindra! Sushil flicks on a long ball to Svetozar, who pierces the Sporting defence with a wonderful through ball for Shivalkar, who was through on goal, but a heavy first touch takes the ball too close to the byline, and he kicks it out, eventually.
5′
Ooh! A cross into the Sporting area is headed on by Sushil to Shivalkar on the left. The winger cuts it back nicely to Sushil at the edge of the area, but his first touch is poor and he loses the ball! Better control and the shot would have been on.
2′
Injury here to Rovan Pereira, as he seems to have come off worse after a collision, but he's fine to continue.
1′
Peep!! Mahindra go close in the very first minute!! Muritala skips past a challenge on the right and plays a beautiful through ball for Sushil into the box, but Barreto comes off his line in time to collect the ball!
Reinstated Sporting coach Vishwas Gaonkar looks on, as kick off beckons!
No NP Pradeep for Mahindra today, as Sushant Matthew takes his place in midfield. Ajayan slots in at right back. Kenji Arai and Mathew Gonsalves are the center backs for Sporting, with Junior and Amos up front, and Tayo the playmaker in midfield.
Both teams have made their way onto the pitch now, with quite a few fans at the ground, expecting big things from the home side. What's this? Actress Archana Puran Singh is on the pitch geeing up the boys!
Welcome all! It's a clear mismatch at the Cooperage today, as the unbeaten Mahindra United take on a win-less Sporting Clube de Goa! But hold on, is any game in the I-League a mismatch? NO! This promises to be another entertainer! Team news soon..
