90′ +6
Finally it's over! The crowd are booing very loudly - they're drowning out the sound of the vuvuzelas! It's a good result for both these teams as they both progress to the next round, but a poor result for the fans that thought this match would have been a cracker. At full time in Durban, it's Portugal: nil, Brazil: nil. Stay with us for a full match analysis, reactions and player ratings.

90′ +5
A last minute bit of action sees Danny slide into the box and end up being clattered by the giant figure of Julio Cesar. He's been taken off for some treatment as Simao stands over the corner kick awarded...

90′ +3
Ahem. As I was saying, five minutes of added time in the second period despite no cards. Seven cards in the first half and one minute of added time. It's clear this game is going no-where ref, get them off! What is this guy up to?!

90′ +1
FIVE minutes of extra time... RAMIREEEEEEES! From distance he strikes it and it comes off Alves' back - it was right on target after the touch from Alves and Eduardo saved beautifully!

88′
It's really slowing down to a snail's pace now. Dunga is still extremely cross with his side, but who knows why. They're not playing well, but they're still topping their group...

85′
It's also worth stating that, while these teams are producing little in the way of scoring opportunities, both sides have been defending incredibly well. Portugal in particular have conceded very little in the build-up to the World Cup also.

85′
Substitution Luis Fabiano Grafite

84′
Miguel Veloso is coming on now for another disappointing player: Raul Meireles. He's carrying a booking as well, Meireles.

84′
Substitution Raúl Meireles Miguel Veloso

83′
Ramires has come on for Julio Baptista. He was disappointing in this match, especially after seeing him play so well previously.

83′
Substitution Julio Baptista Ramires

80′
Dunga is absolutely livid on the touchline here. The Brazil boss is jumping up and down, shouting at his players, really angry with the slack passing that's going on right now.

77′
Simao takes off down the left and swings it in for RONALDOOOO... Lucio EXPERTLY gets in his way just enough to make sure the ball went out to safety. Great defending by the Inter centre-back.

74′
It's apparent that both sides want to win this game, but neither side are willing to be adventurous enough to make it happen. Both sides unwilling to make mistakes, it looks like it's going to stay like this until someone busts out the big guns...

71′
Coentrao... Ronaldo... It's cut out. Neither side really look 100% comitted here. Both teams are showing glimpses of momentary brilliance, but they are far from shining. They'll both go through like this, but it's not great to watch.

68′
Here it is... Ronaldo's got a free-kick from 35-yards out. It's a poor delivery, though. It's worth mentioning that the foul that led to the free-kick would most certainly have been a yellow in the first half. What did I say about the ref being told off for being too card happy? *bow*

67′
VERY late flag up there on Danny who looked completely free up there on the right. He was onside you know, just looking at the replay. Poor decision.

64′
Another change now as Pedro Mendes comes on to replace Pepe. He hasn't played much since his injury at Real Madrid, Pepe, but he wasn't looking too bad. In other news, Julio Cesar is back on his feet!

64′
Substitution Pepe Pedro Mendes

61′
Oh and what's this...? It looks like Meireles has accidentally stood on the back of Julio Cesar during that attempt there... the same back that was injured in a warm-up match against Zimbabwe. He's getting treatment now on the heavily patched up part of his body, but we're still unsure what the real extend of the damage is...

60′
MEIRELES! Ronaldo went on his own for a good 30 yards there, beating all of his men before squaring the ball for Meireles, but the midfielder couldn't direct the ball on target! What an opportunity wasted by the man who had such a great game against North Korea. Shame.

59′
Simao delivers a poor corner kick before smacking the rebound back towards goal. It's on target, but Julio Cesar is well behind it.

57′
Headed attempt from Luis Fabianooo... he's falling away from goal and it doesn't trouble Eduardo as it loops towards goal.

56′
Some wayward passing from both sides ends with Bastos striking from range in frustration. It's well off-target though.

54′
It looks like Simao is going to come on for Portugal now. Might take a while though, Brazil are enjoying a lot of the ball at the moment...

54′
Substitution Duda Simão

51′
Tiago is impeded by Dani Alves there. He looks like he wanted a yellow shown, but resists the temptation to wave another fake card.

49′
Portugal sprung the offside trap beautifully there and Ronaldo looked to play in Danny on the right. Lucio intercepts for a corner... and the delivery is poor. That looked like the best we've seen from Portugal so far though. Lets hope it continues.

47′
Danny shoots off down the middle there, and it looked like he was fouled before he got to the box. Once again the ref tells him to get up...

45′ +1
And the ref's called it for half time. It's been a little disappointing so far for such a highly anticipated match, but we've got another 45 minutes of this left, lets hope for a better second period. Stay with us for part II !

45′
ANOTHER yellow card! What is going on here!? I guarantee the ref gets told to use his cards a little more wisely in the second half. Seven yellows and one minute of added time...? Go figure.

45′
Yellow Card Fabio Coentrao

44′
Melo's being hauled off now and Josue is being sent on. Presumably the Juve man is being taken off for his own good. Perhaps Dunga thinks he's just lost his head a bit.

44′
Substitution Felipe Melo Josué

43′
Felipe Melo in the book now. We'll be able to compare the yellow shirt to the amount of yellow cards soon enough.

42′
Yellow Card Felipe Melo

41′
Ronaldoooooo! Strikes from distance after both sides were squabbling over a free kick... but it doesn't trouble Julio Cesar. We need more of that appetite from the rest of the Portugal squad!

40′
Yellow Card Pepe

39′
Maicon... Fabianoooooooooooooooooo... He's headed it just wide! Great cross there from the right-back into the dangerman there. Could have been 1-0 - should have been 1-0!

37′
Lovely little piece of skill by Nilmaaaaar... chips it over his marker but his final strike is well over the bar.

35′
Now Pepe's been booked for breaking up a Brazilian counter. It's been a scrappy, card-laden affair so far. Some glimpses of brilliance here and there, but we want more than this from two of the world's greatest footballing sides...

32′
Tiago has been booked for diving in the Brazil box! It really looked there was contact there, but the midfilder has had his name taken and the ref has told him to mind his behaviour...

31′
Yellow Card Tiago

30′
NILMAR! He snuck in there at the back post there and just about scored! The ball hit the 'keeper, then the post, then back out. The forward will be raging with that result.

28′
Ronaldo really looks like he wants to get in to this one, but there's always a Brazilian there or thereabout to get in his way and stop him from making a real impact. He isn't being man-marked, but the Selecao are certainly keeping a close eye on him.

25′
Juan has been booked for a yellow card after handling the ball after it looked like Ronaldo was free and clear. Four Portuguese players chased down the ref waving imaginary red cards and, rightfully so, the ref has shown Duda a yellow for demanding a little too harshly.

25′
Yellow Card Duda

25′
Yellow Card Juan

23′
Brazil are starting to enjoy more of the possession again, finally starting to put a few slick passes together. Portugal have a line of four then a line of five behind the ball. Only Ronaldo is staying up at the moment...

20′
We've just had word that Drogba's made it 2-0... They need 8 as it stands to beat Portugal and go through. Is it possible...?

18′
Tiago just sliced the ball wide there after a long ball was sailed into the box. Elsewhere, Ivory Coast have taken the lead against North Korea - Yaya Toure with the goal.

16′
Great work on the left there by Portugal saw a cross come in, but it was well dealt with by the Brazilian defence. The ball came back out to Ronaldo, who seems to have a shoot on site policy at the moment, but the shot wasn't good enough to pass the first man. Still, better work from the Portuguese.

15′
Yellow Card Luis Fabiano

14′
Both sides are struggling to really put more than 3-4 passes together before someone gets in the way. There's certainly no fluidity in this match so far.

11′
Nice cross in there from Maicon, probably the third that's been sent into the box so far from the Brazilians. It didn't do any real damage, but they're certainly not holding back in the early stages are the South Americans.

10′
Ronaldo ignores some unmarked Portuguese midfielders and opts to take a shot from 40 yards out. It gets no further than a few feet before ricocheting off a Brazilian shirt. Speculative? I think so.

8′
Beautiful play down the right there as Alves links up with Maicon. Bruno Alves had to go full stretch to force that out.

6′
Dani Alveeeees... shoots from 25 yards and it's just wide. We've seen him score from there before you know, you can't give the Barca man that kind of space or you'll pay dearly!

5′
Portugal looked like they might have had their first chance of the half there as they went forward with intent. A slack pass from Raul Meireles was easily picked up by the Selecao and they are now dominating possession.

3′
And another corner-kick awarded to Brazil wasted after being sent in low by Dani Alves...

2′
Dani Alves takes and it's a disappointing low one, well dealt with by Carvalho.

1′
Brazil have won an early corner after some good work from Nilmar.

We're just finishing up with the national anthems at the moment - kick off in a few minutes!

Brazil gaffer Dunga has opted to replace the suspended Kaka with Julio Baptista, while Dani Alves has taken the place of the injured Elano. Line-up: Julio Cesar, Maicon, Juan, Lucio, Michel Bastos, Melo, Gilberto Silva, Dani Alves, Julio Baptista, Luis Fabiano, Nilmar

Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz has made the decision to give defenders Duda and Costa the chance to prove their worth at the back , while Pepe has made it into the starting XI, too. Playmaker Danny has also returned to the line-up. Line-up: Eduardo, Duda, Bruno Alves, Carvalho, Costa, Pepe, Meireles, Coentrao, Danny, Tiago, Ronaldo
