Full Time! David Booth and his men get the three points they wanted, and got three goals as well! Mohammedan have a mountain to climb in the league, after yet another disappointing effort, and injury problems that fail to go away. Smiles all around in the stands, as David Booth shakes all his players' hands as they make their way off the field. This is Atishay Agarwal signing off. Thanks for joining me for the game folks! Final Score: Mumbai FC 3-0 Mohammedan Sporting
Meanwhile, Anas Edathodika has been named the man of the match. An interesting choice, although the lad has played well today.
A moment of madness by Singha Roy! He punches a cross and runs all the way outside his box to head it clear, and has to run back all the way as Mohammedan try to get a quick shot in! Luckily for the keeper, the visitors fail to test him, and the danger clears. All's well that ends well, I hear?
Mumbai are passing the ball around rather impressively now near the right byline, frustrating the Mohammedan players even more.
High and wide! This time it's Bijoy Das, whose left footed volley goes into orbit. Did it even come down?? Amit Singha Roy is down at the moment, probably due to some impact on his knee. He's fine, though.
Yellow Card Anas Edathodika
Players now seem to be going through the motions here, but as i type that Anas has kicked out needlessly at Suraj Mondal when the latter had possession near the corner flag. He's going to be booked, for sure.
It now looks like this will be Mohammedan's fifth straight defeat in the I-League, one that will leave them mired in the relegation zone, that too with a poor goal difference.
Close! Adebayo dink the ball over the Mumbai defence for the onrushing Mondal, but his first time shot rolls wide of the post!
Substitution Abel Hammond Alex Ambrose
Goal Abhishek Yadav
GOAL!! 3-0, and it's Abhishek Yadav who's wrapped the game up for Mumbai! He started the move by laying the ball off to Hammond, who zoomed past his marker and cut the ball back for the burly striker, who poked the ball precisely inside the far post. Great finish!
Adebayo! That was a really long-range effort, 30-35 yards out, but it's straight at Singha Roy, who collects easily.
Good chance for Mohammedan! There ought to have been better communication there, as Okoro's cross was met by Suraj Mondal's head. The ball was a touch too high for Mondal though, and Pariyar was right behind him, in a much better position to head it in.
It's incredible how many headers Abhishek has won today. He wins another at the edge of the box, but this time it goes straight into Thungshang's now un-buttered hands.
Substitution Felix Aboagye S Kuttymani
Mumbai claim a penalty as Yadav seemed to have been blocked inside the box by Madhab Das, but it's a case of six of one, half a dozen of the other. You don't really see penalties given for that, although outside the area, that might be a foul.
Good play by Okoro! He wriggles past two defenders when cutting in from the left, and wins a corner. He's worked his socks off today, but has been let down a touch by his teammates.
Good keeping by Thungshang! Hammond sprints past the outside of Farooq on the right, but the keeper finally does something positive by charging off his line and blocking his shot.
Close! Kulothangan releases Hammond on the right, who has time to pick his cross. He goes near post, but Singha Roy collects it before Feliz can get there. Yadav was waiting as well near the far post.
Another miscue! Adebayo runs all the way down the center of the pitch till the Mumbai penalty area, fighting off three challenges, and the ball eventually fell to Vilay Pariyar, who failed to make any connection with his shot and lost balance!
What is it with everyone going for glory from distance? Hammond again tries an ambitious volley from the corner of the penalty area, and it goes way over the crossbar. A cross for Yadav would have been a much better option.
Substitution Lalhriatzuala Tezoka Vimal Pariyar
Substitution for Mohammedan, as Vimal Pariyar is brought on for Tezoka.
Yadav! Deflected out for a corner! He does a brilliant job in winning the header from a long ball, but Felix misses his shot completely from the flick on! The ball then finds its way back to Yadav, whose shot is deflected, and loops out for a corner.
Oh a chance wasted! Sovan was in acres of space on the left there, but he crossed it straight into Thungshang's hands! A good cross there would have killed the game.
Welcome back for the second half! Both teams are out on the field, and I feel revitalised by a quick snack. Nothing goes as well with football as food, I tell you.
Half Time! It's been a very professional performance by Mumbai FC so far, who have a two-goal lead against a sorry-looking Mohammedan Sporting side, thanks to a wonderful goal by Riston Rodrigues, and a second by Kulothangan just before half time. Join me for the second half in 10 minutes.
Substitution Satyajit Bose Suraj Mondal
Mohammedan immediately showing some intent, as Suraj Mondal comes on for Satyajit Bose.
Goal Kalia Kulothungan
GOAL!!! Mumbai have their second goal, and it's Kulothangan who taps it in at the far post! Abel Hammond heads a Sanjay Parte free kick from the right flank back across goal, and there's noone marking Kulothangan at the far post, who has the simple task of redirecting the ball into the back of the net! Thungshang must take the blame there, as he was in no man's land as he came to try and collect the cross.
Speaking of hope, Abel Hammond tries a very ambitious left footed volley when he was under a lot of pressure from his marker, and the result? As expected, it loops up high in the air, and is well wide.
This game must be frustrating to watch for a Mohammedan fan. They're showing very little intent going forward, and relying more on luck everytime they play a long ball.
Mumbai's strategy of the three men up front is working well for them, as all three strikers, Felix, Hammond, and Yadav are causing problems for Mohammedan whenever they're on the ball.
Goal Riston Rodrigues
GOAL!! Mumbai have the lead, and it's a peach of a goal by Riston Rodrigues! Felix has a shot on goal which is blocked and comes back, and the striker does superbly to keep hold of the ball and pass it to Yadav, whose lay off is placed superbly just inside the far post by Riston! That was one classy finish!
Thungshang's dipped his gloves in butter today, as he fumbles the ball yet again when collecting a routine cross from the right flank. the ball drops to the ground and ricochets off his body almost into Yadav's path, but the keeper manages to collect it on the second attempt. It's been a very shaky performance by the Mohammedan custodian so far.
Abhishek Yadav gives everyone a glimpse of what he' all about, as he rises highest to flick on a long ball beautifully, but Felix wasn't quite prepared for it!
Adebayo!! He curls the ball over the ball, but Singha Roy does very well to dive to his left and parry the ball away! If anything, that shot lacked that extra bit of power to beat the keeper.
Just i say it, Mohammedan have won a free kick in a dangerous position after Kulothangan fouled Tezoka.
It increasingly looks like Mumbai FC will be the team who score first, although they're not creating many clear cut chances themselves. Mohammedan look devoid of ideas when on the ball, and are hoofing the ball up field most of the time.
Substitution Aseem K Abhishek Yadav
A very early substitution for Mumbai FC as Abhishek Yadav comes on for Aseem Kutty, probably to give the hosts some more height up front.
Shot blocked! Kulothangan with the drive there from 20 yards out after Felix's lay off, but there were too many bodies between him and the goal, and the Kolkata side clear their lines once more.
A neat one two by Jothi Kumar and Mike Okoro, which lights up the game for a moment, but Mohammedan lose possession again!
This hasn't been the prettiest of games so far, with both teams scrapping it out in midfield for the most part, without creating anything significant.
Oh dear! That must have hurt! Adebayo tries an acrobatic clearance, abut his boot crashes into Sovan Chakraborty's head in his follow through! The replays look horrible, but Sovan is back on his feet.
And now Mumbai go close! Abel Hammond does ever so well to charge down the left outside his marker, and sends in a low cross, but the ball goes wide after taking a touch off Felix's outstretched boot! Phew! Thungshang should have stopped that cross, though.
Close!! Fernandes misses the ball completely to let Jothi through on goal! But he somehow recovers to push the ball away just as Jothi was about to strike!
Good run down the right by Okoro, but the Mumbai defenders combine to clear the danger.
