By Greg Stobart at Wembley

  • Fraser Forster

    Fraser Forster

Made a couple of sharp saves but on the whole a nervy debut as he looked glued to his line and produced wayward kicks.

  • Gary Cahill

Gary Cahill Flop of the Match

Shaky throughout and made a real mess in injury time as he gifted Chile possession ahead of Sanchez's second goal.

  • Glen Johnson

    Glen Johnson

The Liverpool defender's positioning was often poor, allowing Beausejour to run into space.

  • Leighton Baines

    Leighton Baines

The left-back was caught on his heels for Chile's first goal and looked suspect defensively throughout. Offered little threat in attack.

  • Phil Jones

    Phil Jones

Made some crucial last-ditch blocks but sometimes caught on his heels before being replaced by Smalling in the second-half.

  • Adam Lallana

    Adam Lallana

A reasonable enough international debut for the Southampton man. Some neat touches and a deflected shot just wide before being replaced by Barkley.

  • Frank Lampard

    2.00

    Frank Lampard

The man of the moment was presented with his 100th cap before kick-off but his performance was largely ineffectual. Accurate enough passing but made few of his customary late runs into the box.

  • James Milner
    6
    5
    2.00

    James Milner

A typically workmanlike display in central midfield from the Manchester City man. Covered plenty of ground but was missing creativity in possession.

  • Jack Wilshere
    8
    9
    2.00

    Jack Wilshere

Showed his quality in patches but the Arsenal man's passing was often inaccurate - perhaps a reflection of the poor movement in front of him.

  • Jay Rodriguez

    Jay Rodriguez

England's third debutant never looked comfortable. Lacked ambition on the ball but worked hard defensively to support Johnson.

  • Wayne Rooney

    Wayne Rooney

Tried to pull the strings dropping deep from his role as the main striker. Looked the most likely to unlock the Chile defence but delayed on the ball too much.

    Claudio Bravo

Made some rather unconventional saves for the cameras and couldn't hold on to the ball - but he managed to keep England at bay.

  • Eugenio Esteban Mena Reveco

    Eugenio Esteban Mena Reveco

Fantastic cross from the left to set up Sanchez's first goal and handled England defensively with few problems.

  • Marcos González

    Marcos González

Shaky start from the centre-back but improved immensely after the first 15 minutes to deny Rooney and Co space around the edge of the box.

  • C. Aránguiz

    C. Aránguiz

Classy performance in central midfield as he showed great technical ability before being replaced at half-time through injury.

  • Gary Medel

    Gary Medel

The Cardiff man dropped back into a central defensive role and excelled. Aggressive as ever and relative lack of height caused no issues.

  • Jean Beausejour
    2
    1
    2.50

    Jean Beausejour

Got in to some excellent positions on the left flank but his final ball was terrible. Did force Forster into a good diving save with a fierce strike across goal in the first-half.

  • Marcelo Díaz

    Marcelo Díaz

Very tidy display in central midfield. Goalbound shot blocked in the build-up to Chile's opening goal.

  • Mauricio Isla

    Mauricio Isla

Defended solidly especially against the threat of Baines and his ambition and delivery on the counter-attack troubled England. Replaced by Jara in the 59th minute.

  • Mati Fernández

    Mati Fernández

Impressive performance in midfield as he broke up England attacks and looked to start counter-attacks. Replaced due to injury at half-time.

Alexis Sánchez Top of the Match

Stunning display capped with the only two goals of the game. Opened the scoring with a sharp run and header in the seventh minute before sealing the win with a lovely chip over Forster in the dying moments. Always looked the most dangerous player on the pitch. Had the speed, trickery and confidence the England players sorely lacked.

  • Edu Vargas
