Mansur Faqiryar Top of the Match

The Afghan custodian was at his best as he pulled off a number of saves to deny India a chance to score. Threw himself at every shot on goal with his perfect positioning and deserves to be the man of the match.

  • Haroon Fakhruddin

    Haroon Fakhruddin

The Mumbai FC defender made crucial and clean tackles inside his own area. Very strong in the air and didn't let any blue shirt pass by him easily throughout the length of the match

  • Mohammad Rafi

    Mohammad Rafi

The defender charged in the attack on a number of occasions, often helping his side in set-pieces, among which he almost caught Subrata Paul off his line in the 17th minute.

  • Farzad Ataee

    Farzad Ataee

The braveheart recovered from a minor stroke after facing Nepal in the semi-final and did exceptionally well to cut out the open spaces for Indian striker Robin Singh

  • Mujtaba Faiz

    Mujtaba Faiz

Often covered the central defensive area when Amiri went ahead and took the aerial duels head on. Made a goal line save off Jeje's shot in the first half after his keeper had already committed himself to Mehtab's piledrive in the same move.

  • Mustafa Azadzoy

    3.00

    Mustafa Azadzoy

Tricked the Indian goalkeeper to give his side an early advantage in the final, besides which he failed to do well on another one-on-one situation with Subrata Paul, but always kept pressurising the rival defense.

  • Mohammad Marouf
    31

    2.50

    Mohammad Marouf

The player was back on the left wing having made a few vital contributions in the tournament, but had quite an average performance on the day as Afghanistan adopted more of a direct approach as compared to moving down from the flanks

  • Yusef Mashriqi

    Yusef Mashriqi

Earned himself a needless booking for wasting time after his side had taken the lead in the first half. Hurled in a couple of long free-kicks in the Indian box, but not always reaching his strikers.

  • Balal Arezou

    Balal Arezou

The former Churchill Brothers striker assisted the first goal, rellaying Mustafa Hadid's pass towards Mustafa Azadzoy to do the res. Although he failed to send that final delivery team-mates in a number of openings created by his side, it was his shot that led to the second goal. Could not score himself as his shot blocked by Subrata around the hour mark.

  • Sandjar Ahmadi
    44

    3.00

    Sandjar Ahmadi

Was often caught behind the Indian defense in the first half. He however made the best of his opportunity pounce on the lose ball following Arezou's shot that was saved by Subrata to chip it in over the Indian custodian.

  • Mustafa Hadid

    Mustafa Hadid

Warned Subrata Paul with a deep free-kick minutes before he visioned the move towards the first goal in which he picked Balal Arezou who had a clear sight of eventual goalscorer Mustafa Azadzoy in the Indian area.

Had just over 10 minutes on the pitch after replacing goalscorer Sandjar Ahmadi. Drove his shot wide on one occasion.

    Hashmatullah Barikzai

Was introduced for only the last quarter of the match in place of Mohammad Marouf. Didn't really charge at the goal, but kept the passes ticking.

  • Subrata Paul

Subrata Paul Flop of the Match

He could have done far better in each of the two goals. Only he knew what he was doing when the first goal was scored while he came off his line far too often and had to pay the price when the second goal was scored. Gave away a needless free-kick for handling the ball outside the area. Certainly was the flop of the day for the Blue Tigers.

  • Nirmal Chettri

    Nirmal Chettri

The right-back’s positional sense was awful on the night as he allowed the Afghan attackers to get past him with ease. He didn’t deliver any decent crosses throughout the game.

  • Arnab Mondal

    14
    2.00

    Arnab Mondal

He committed a lot of fouls and put in a tackle late after Azadaoy had evaded him for the first goal. He wasn’t sure at the back and should have done better in the opposition half from set-pieces.

  • Syed Rahim Nabi
    13
    16

    Syed Rahim Nabi

The left-back always looked to drive forward often leaving space behind for the opposition to expose. Wasn’t his best game for sure as he didn’t use his aerial prowess at either end. He set-up Chhetri in the final quarter of the game which his skipper couldn’t convert.

  • Lenny Rodrigues

    3.00

    Lenny Rodrigues

He saw his shot being tipped over the bar in the 79th minute from a 40 yards out. He was decent when in possession but never really produced the final through-ball which the strikers desperately needed on the night.

  • Mehtab Hossain
    12

    Mehtab Hossain

Had a piledriver parried away in the first half. He wasn’t his usual self in the tackling department but was arguably the best passer in the Indian midfield. He did send in a lot of long balls though not always on target.

  • Francis Fernandes
    12

    Francis Fernandes

He was lurking around in the middle third but didn’t really put in a number of crosses. He did set-up a chance for Chhetri and Arata in each of the two halves as the Afghan goalkeeper kept them out.

  • Arata Izumi
    9
    15
    2.50

    Arata Izumi

The Japanese-born Indian midfielder pressed well and had a shot on goal in the first half. It wasn’t his best outing for the country.

  • Gouramangi Singh

    2.00

    Gouramangi Singh

The Indian skipper on the night didn’t produce a top performance he has been delivering throughout the tournament. Should have done better to win the ball from Arezou in the build-up to the first goal and could have cleared the ball on the line for Afghanistan’s second goal.

  • Jeje Lalpekhlua
    10
    16
    2.50

    Jeje Lalpekhlua

The Dempo SC forward had a couple of wild attempts on goal. He did find the back of the net on an occasion after the referee blew his whistle for a foul. His effort from five yards out was cleared off the line.

  • Robin Singh

The Indian centre-forward had a couple of chances but failed to convert them. Gave a decent account of himself but never really troubled the backline playing alone upfront.

He had an instant impact on the proceedings after coming on at the hour mark. He saw one of his efforts come off the crossbar and had a couple of chances which should have been put to bed.
