The Red Lizards will look to put an end to their woeful form in the league when they take on East Bengal...
They have dropped as low as seventh on the standings and their chances of making it into the top five look slim.
Coach Mike Snoei is hopeful of a turnaround in their fortunes when they face East Bengal on Saturday at the Shree Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune. It must be noted the same opposition beat them 3-1 last week in the away fixture.
"We must try and reward the team for the good play that we have shown in the recent games. And to do that, winning should be our primary target in the three remaining games (2 in I-League, 1 in AFC Cup).”
"We had our chances (to win) in the previous games, but now we must work ourselves into winning positions and finish off games," he mentioned.
The good news for Pune FC fans is that Anas Edathodika will mark his return from injury while Nikhil Kadam and Lalrempuia Fanai will be missing out.
On the other hand, East Bengal will look to return to winning ways after the disappointing 1-0 loss to Churchill Brothers in the midweek.
Mehtab Hossain continues to be absent due to an injury while James Moga has left for Egypt to sort his groin problem.
"Now it's going to be very very difficult. Nobody asks who are in the middle of the table, people only ask who are the champions and who is relegated. We just have to carry on," said coach Armando Colaco on his team's title chances.
A win would take them a point behind league leaders, Bengaluru FC who have two tough away fixtures against Dempo SC and Sporting Clube de Goa.
