Rangdajied United secured a point from their final game of the season to survive the drop as they held Shillong Lajong to a 0-0 draw.
Initially, the game seemed to be bobbed down in midfield with neither side offering much penetration. The first real chance came along only in the 29th minute.
Having collected a pass from Glen, Subash coasted in from the right flank and took aim but his long-range effort was wide of the target and could only find the side-netting.
Four minutes before half-time, Uilliams took Rehenesh by surprise with a shot from range. Uilliams' powerful strike was saved well by the diving custodian who tapped the ball around the post for a corner.
Two minutes later, Kim Yong found himself in a great position with just the keeper to beat but his untimely slip saw the chance go begging as the game remained goalless at half-time.
The second period didn't see much of an improvement in the intensity of the game as the action was largely concentrated in midfield but Lajong began to edge proceedings.
The normally danderous Ranti Martins was negated well by Lajong throughout the gam as the Nigerian was not allowed to get a grip on the game.
Both sides showed a bit of urgency in the final moments of the fixture in order to nick a win at the death but on the whole they seemed content with a draw and that's just what they got at the final whistle with the encounter ending 0-0.
The point for the Blues ensures their survival and a spot in next season's I-League while Lajong remain in 5th place behind Sporting Clube de Goa.
