In one of the most exciting encounters of round twelve of the I-League, Pune FC shall entertain United Sports Club at the Balewadi Sports Complex, Pune on Sunday.

Pune FC have amassed 18 points from nine matches and they shall hope to come back to winning ways after back-to-back draws against Salgaocar FC and Dempo SC, both games were they were dominated for large periods.

Playing in front of home support will certainly help Mike Snoei’s side. Pune FC have scored the lowest number of goals amongst the top six sides but also possess the best defensive record in the league with their back-lie being breached only on five occasions.

It must be noted that they have been in sublime form at home having not conceded a single goal in their four home matches and have yet to drop a point in Pune.

“Sometimes you need to be content with one point and look forward to play better than the last game. Our ambition is to win, play well and continue to push ourselves. I am looking forward to the game. The game will be also against my country man (Eelco Schattorie)," said Snoei.

United SC have been impressive in keeping possession though not always have they been creative in using it to their advantage. Eric Brown, the lynchpin of the Kolkata side returns to action after serving a one-match suspension and will support the in-form Shouvick Chakraborty to supply Ranti Martins with quality service to thrive upon.

Prior to the win against Dempo, they had lost one and drew four of their five matches away from home. The Purple brigade will hope to get a positive result which shall keep them within touching distance with the teams on the top.

Mohammed Rafique may also get share of first team action, especially after Snehasish Chakraborty's lackluster performance in the last match.

""Our recovery is difficult after playing a strong game against East Bengal. We have seven top games in a row and a lot of away games. We need to be fit and hope that we can get all the players back within two weeks. The morale is good but we miss creativity. We will go for a result so we stay on top till the end of the first round of fixtures,” said United SC coach Eelco Schatorrie.

It will also be a battle to see which team keeps the ball as the two coaches profess the ‘pass-and-move’ brand of football. This game has all the makings of a spectacle.
