Live Commentary

  • Juve now have to slug it out in the Europa League for another season. Gala, meanwhile, go into the hat for the draw for the round of 16. And that's just about it from me, it's been a crazy, unbelievable game. Unorthodox, but entertaining to the last. Until next time.
  • They've had to weather the storm in more ways than one, but Gala dug deep to pull out a huge, huge win. Juve looked to have a place in the knockout stages sewn up, but a superb combination between Drogba and Sneijder saw the latter drill in a priceless goal late on. The former, by the way, is now leading the Gala fans in a chest-thumping celebration.

  • 90' + 4'
Drogba works the ball into the penalty area, and Yilmaz keeps his feet in time to nearly prod the visitors further ahead!
  • 90' + 3'
Drogba expertly draws a foul from Lichtsteiner. And that may do it for the Turks.
  • 90' + 2'
    SubstitutionWesley Sneijder Ceyhun Gülselam

    Yellow Card Néstor Muslera Micol
  • 90' + 2'
Off goes Sneijder, who is two minutes away from confirming himself as a bona-fide Gala hero.
  • 90' + 1'
Quagliarella and Giovinco on. Juve have four forwards on the pitch. All or nothing...

Into the first of three added minutes...
  • 90'
    SubstitutionLeonardo Bonucci Sebastian Giovinco
  • 90'
Buffon nearly caught off his line! The keeper rushed off his line but missed the ball, and has Asamoah to thank for covering him on the line and clearing away the danger!
  • 89'
    Yellow Card Umut Bulut
  • 89'
After an almighty delay, Tevez strikes a 25 yard free kick, but it's deflected by the wall. And Gala break...
  • 87'
    SubstitutionClaudio Marchisio Fabio Quagliarella
  • 87'
You can bet Conte will have some words should this scoreline hold. He did not want this game to continue after half time, and his side are heading out of the Champions League as things stand.
  • 85'
    Assist Didier Drogba
  • 85'
    Goal Wesley Sneijder
THEY HAVE SCORED! A goal of massive importance fashioned by the Gala Galacticos. Drogba does supremely well to flick a header into the path of the onrushing Sneijder, who hits it low, hard and true, and beats Buffon! What a goal, what a moment and what a celebration! He's still got it!
  • 85'
  • 84'
SNEIJDER! After freeing himself well at the top of the box, the Dutch midfielder angles one at goal, but sends it over! Was that the chance!
  • 83'
Galatasaray have barely had the ball in the opposition half in the last 10 minutes or so. It's been a professional display from Juve, no doubt about that.
  • 83'
Juve work a clever short corner. Tevez eschews a shot in favor of teeing up an unmarked Vidal at the top of the box, but thankfully for Muslera, his shot takes a deflection en route to goal and goes wide.
  • 82'
Will Juve be hit by a late Bulut? Mancini has rolled the dice, bringing on Umut for Eboue.
  • 81'
    SubstitutionEmmanuel Eboue Umut Bulut
  • 81'
Juve twice come close in two minutes to taking the lead. Tevez links well Marchisio who forces Muslera into a low save, and then Llorente nearly gets by the keeper at his near post. The ball is at the wrong end as far as Gala are concerned.
  • 79'
Sneijder with a petulant kick out on Pogba, and he rightfully gets punished with a yellow card. Signs of the growing frustration of Gala as the match draws to a close.
  • 77'
    Yellow Card Wesley Sneijder
  • 77'
Asamoah whips in a great cross from the left hand side, which just about evades the head of Llorente. A good chance to take from the Ghanaian though.
  • 75'
Lichtsteiner tries to use the conditions to his advantage, nearly pulling off a Roberto Carlo-esque move, pushing the ball far ahead of the defender then beating him for pace. Kaya though is no slouch on this occasion, and shepherds the Juve man off the ball.
  • 73'
About time for Gala to go for broke methinks. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain from pushing for a winner here. Juve are understandably showing no urgency in attack.
  • 71'
Drogba holds the ball up magnificently, and lays the ball off that NEARLY falls perfectly for Yilmaz on the run at the top of the box. As it was, Barzagli makes the interception just at the right moment.
  • 69'
Eboue is blinded by the lights and, with a rush of blood to the head, takes aim from long range again. And once more, he misses the target.
  • 68'
Juve defend well against a Galatasaray corner, and remain solid at the back for the resultant throw in from the Turkish side. Won't be surprised to see a set piece be the undoing of either side.
  • 66'
Tevez holds the ball up well and plays a neat square pass to Pogba, who rolls one in or Lichtsteiner on the overlap. The full back is forced to cut onto his weaker foot and play square across the top, and Tevez collects to fire in a tame effort at Muslera.
  • 64'
Real strong stuff from Gala in the last few minutes though. Juve forced to dig deep at the back as the Turks come at them. I don't think that Llorente has touched the ball more than once in this second half.
  • 62'
Oh dear. A cross is missed by Asamoah, freeing Eboue for a shot from a good position 20 yards from goal. But the former Arsenal man swings and slices horribly, almost sending the ball out for a throw in. He had a lot of time there, clearly not enough to remember that he's not Steven Gerrard in his prime.
  • 60'
Yilmaz takes charge of the set piece this time, but it's high, wide and not too hostile. Poor in the end from the striker. It would not have taken much in this weather to cause problems in the box.
  • 59'
    Yellow Card Carlos Tévez
  • 59'
Drogba sets up a free kick from about 30 yards, which Tevez blocks illegally with his hand. Yellow card for the Argentine, and Gala get to move the ball up almost 10 yards, into a much more menacing position.
  • 58'
BUFFON! Pogba dallies suicidally on the ball, and Gala nip it off his toes, with Drogba charging on goal. The striker is powerful in his movement, and rips a seemingly goalbound shot towards the bottom corner, but a fingertip from Buffon tips it around the post! MASSIVE save!
  • 57'
The lines, which have been painted a utilitarian orange color, seem to be holding up well.
  • 56'
Chiellini nearly slips on a sixpence, and almost plays a clearance right into the onrushing Drogba, who was closing him down like a shadow. The centre back just about manages to get rid in time.
  • 54'
Selcuk plays into Drogba, who flicks deftly to Sneijder at the top of the box. The Dutchman has space to run into, and has a pop towards the top corner, but misses comfortably by a few feet. Still, that's more like it from the hosts. Hit and hope I say.
  • 52'
Pogba has a pop at goal from his favorite zone outside the box, but it's right down the throat of Muslera. The Gala keeper smothered the ball well, but signs of how Juve might endeavor to breakthrough.
  • 50'
Right now, the pitch is winning all the battles. Reminiscent of the October group game between Benfica and Olympiakos, where rainfall basically rendered the surface a swamp. Uefa decided to soldier on for that game, and you can bet that it pained them to delay this game over a day. You can also bet that it would take weather of biblical proportions for them to consider calling it off again. Slog up gentlemen.
  • 48'
YOU'VE ONLY COME TO SEE EBOUE - PART 2! Tevez barges into the Ivorian defender in a bid to win the ball, and he falls theatrically to the turf. Replays show that Eboue went down clutching his face, which was not touched in any fashion by Tevez. Even more of a farce than the playing surface. He conned the referee into a booking for Marchisio yesterday, but at least the official is not fooled this time.
  • 47'
Yilmaz penalized for a meaty and quite unnecessary foul on Bonucci, given that the defender looked to be tripping on his own anyway.
  • 46'
Here we go again to restart the second half of this match.
  • Both Drogba and Conte had a few things to say to the referee at the break. No prizes for guessing the topic of conversation. There's an argument to be made for saving the game for a better weather period, as the knockout stages do not kick off until February 2014. The draw for that stage could still be conceivably made with one of the two filling the permutation. But this fixture could well become an eyesore to schedule in future, and I suppose for the sake of the traveling fans at least, it was better to get it over with as soon as possible.
  • I doubt the Gala players have taken too kindly to the half time break commencing on 45 minutes game time, as with barely a quarter of an hour on the pitch today, they may only just have began to warm up. Juve though should be loving this. The stop-start disruption is music to their ears as they look to avoid the defeat that would send them out of the Champions League for another season.
  • Some 17 hours after it originally kicked off, the first half has finally been brought to an end. Today's 14-minute edition was rather uneventful, save from the spectacle of watching the players cope with a snowy, muddy, bumpy pitch. Tevez managed to squeeze in a shot from a decent position into the side netting, but otherwise, no one has come close.
  • 45' + 1'
But there won't even be time for that to occur, as the referee signals for the break!
  • 45'
One minute of added time to end the first half, as Sneijder stands over a free kick, looking to pump one into the box...
  • 43'
The snow has eased up here in Istanbul, but word is that it's only a temporary respite, and the onslaught will continue some time in the second half. The ground staff better be at the ready...
  • 41'
Juve have taken the possession-based approach, while Galatasaray are looking to break on the counter when possible, with the likes of Sneijder pumping a few long balls forward for Drogba and Yilmaz to chase. No success to that strategy so far...
  • 39'
A clever little reverse ball from Llorente releases Tevez down the right hand side, and the Argentine cracks one in on goal, but he never caught it quite as clean as he would have liked, and Muslera sees it into the side netting!
  • 37'
Juventus have re-started this game the far better of the two sides, with the Italian outfit able to find Llorente with direct passes which avoid the bogged down central area of the field. From there, the Spaniard can release his strike-partner Tevez, who can look to run at the Gala defensive line.
  • 35'
LICHTSTEINER! The Swiss wing-back gets up to support Tevez, after the Argentine forward is fed a knock-down by the physically imposing Llorente. He sees his shot blocked and turned behind for a corner, but the Old Lady fail to trouble Muslera with the resulting set piece.
  • 34'
I'm afraid it's a bit of a farce on the pitch, almost as much as yesterday. The ball is getting stuck in mud and divots with regularity, and the players are moving very gingerly out there. And...the snow is still falling.
  • 33'
The Turk Telekom pitch, by the way, looks like the aftermath of a New Years' Eve concert. Patches and bald spots abound, and early signs show the ball moving extremely unpredictably.
  • 33'
Both sides' wing-backs have already had to traverse the mini-mountains of snow narrowly off the field of play, in order to collect the loose ball to take their respective throw-ins. The centre of the field is really atrocious, barely any grass is visible.
  • 32'
Some 17 hours on, and the match has kicked off again, with Gala taking an uncontested drop ball from the referee.
  • 32'
  • 32'
WE ARE BACK UNDERWAY IN THE FIRST HALF! The game is restarted in the 32nd minute, with the ball being launched back into play by Galatasaray, and things are exactly how we left them. Despite all that has occurred, the atmosphere is still brilliant, as expected.
  • 32'
The players take to the field in snow once again, and Inan doesn't look like he can quite believe it! The referee and Riera share a wry smile, knowing that things just aren't quite going their way at the moment.
  • 32'
I don't think that the away side will be very happy with being forced to play on this surface, but the referee has little choice but to push on with the task at hand. The pitch resembles something of a patch of agricultural land, but at least it isn't covered in snow.
  • 32'
Mancini went with three men at the back last night, and it appears that the Italian boss will persevere with his tactical changes today too. Riera and Eboue on the flanks should provide Galatasaray with much-needed width and possible ammunition to the towering presence of Drogba.
  • 32'
Ten minutes until the second first-half kick-off in this tie, and all spectators will be hoping that the sprinklings of snow falling from the sky can just stall for an hour or two. Juventus will presumably be happy with a draw this afternoon, so complications may play into their hands, but Galatasaray can't afford to physically or metaphorically slip up.
  • 32'
A small amount of snow is beginning to fall upon the stadium, and I don't think that anybody in attendance is too pleased about that. Yesterday was a demonstration of how quickly weather conditions can get out of hand, and I'm sure that both managers will be keen to rush their players out onto the field before the blizzard has chance to recommence.
  • 32'
To sum up Group B, should Galatasaray win here in the Turk Telekom Arena on this rather churned up pitch, the Turkish side will progress into the knockout stages at the expense of Juventus. The Serie A champions must simply avoid defeat to navigate their way into the next round.
  • 32'
Last time the two sides faced each other in Turin, Umut Bulut scored two minutes from the end of normal time to cancel out Quagliarella's strike, which the Old Lady must have thought had earned them the three points merely a minute earlier. Yesterday didn't go according to plan, but hopefully we can reach the 90 minute mark this afternoon.
  • 32'
Juventus substitutes: Caceres, Ogbonna, Giovinco, Padoin, Quagliarella, Storari, Isla.
  • 32'
Juventus starting line-up: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; Lichtsteiner, Vidal, Pogba, Marchisio, Asamoah; Llorente, Tevez.
  • 32'
Galatasaray substitutes: Gulselam, Nounkeu, Bulut, Bruma, Kurtulus, Colak, Ceylan.
  • 32'
Galatasaray starting line-up: Muslera; Zan, Kaya, Chedjou; Riera, Inan, Sneijder, Melo, Eboue; Drogba, Burak Yilmaz.
  • 32'
TEAM NEWS: It's a case of as you were from last night, of course, with the only thing worth mentioning being that Marchisio is on a yellow card for the visitors, after picking up a booking in the 18th minute last night.
  • 32'
I'm Simon Harrison, and I will be keeping you fully updated with all of the action from the Turk Telekom Arena, where the pitch looks in rather atrocious condition. The ground staff have been working their hardest to make this match playable, but there can be no denying that the field of play isn't in its best shape.
  • 32'
Hello and welcome to the second bout of pre-match build up ahead of Galatasaray's Champions League clash against Juventus, with the game being replayed following abandonment yesterday. A combination of thick snow and hail ended proceedings last night, and we'll be starting from the 31st minute as a result.
  • 32'
Early word coming out of the trenches is that this one will be replayed tomorrow, most likely picking up when the clock stopped on at 31:00 game time. Hardly an ideal scenario, but the officials did what was best for the safety of the players.
  • 32'
The efforts of the groundsmen have done little to stem the tide of the weather. They manage to clear the lines, but the sheer quantity of snow has created pile ups and divots in the areas that they have cleared. Uefa's official line is to call off the fixture for today.
  • 32'
  • 32'
Snow is still heaping up on the Turk Telekom pitch, but the ground staff are doing all in their power to salvage the game. Word is that they're about to paint the lines orange in a bid to patch things up in time.
  • 32'
It's half time across the board elsewhere in the Champions League. Madrid still one up on Copenhagen, Bayern have a 2-1 lead over Manchester City, Benfica and PSG are locked in a 1-1 draw - which is the same score between Olympiakos and Anderlecht.
  • 32'
That being said, it was pretty cool to see the old school orange ball busted out for a round during the heaviest bit of snowfall while the game was still in play.
  • 32'
Regarding the match, as soon as I know more, you'll know more. The longer it goes on though, the more chance of the officials calling off the match. Both sides, sets of supporters, and really everyone involved will prefer - conditions permitting - the match to proceed as planned, as a replay would be highly inconvenient during this busy footballing time of year.
  • 32'
The conditions have and will doubtless make it hard for teams to get into an attacking rhythm, which will benefit Juve more than Gala. The Old Lady will take a 0-0 here all the way to the bank. Conversely, however, such unpredictability on the ball can be a nightmare for defenders and goalkeepers to deal with, and one freak mistake could be the undoing of either side.
  • 32'
The groundsmen still plugging away on the field, which gives me enough time to tell you that Luka Modric has given Real Madrid a 1-0 lead over Copenhagen in Denmark in the other Group B showdown.
  • 32'
And the players have been ordered off the pitch. The match has not been abandoned yet, as the groundsmen get to work with plows and rakes to, at the very least, make the lines on the pitch visible.
  • 32'
Indeed, the referee has brought a temporary halt to the game as the hail and snow has blurred all the lines on the pitch. The officials are discussing with the captains the next course of action, and there may potentially be a call off on our hands.
  • 32'
Eboue's able to walk off the pitch on his own, and is attended to by the physios. The snow is absolutely belting down on the Turk Telekom pitch. Pre-match, the groundsmen did their best to keep the snow off, but the snow and hail has made the playing surface virtually white.
  • 30'
Juve see a series of shots blocked at the top of the box, the latest effort from Vidal thwarted by Eboue at some cost to the fullback. He's down on the deck writhing in genuine agony.
  • 28'
Chiellini nearly overlaps to perfection to place a cross on the head of Llorente, but Kara heads away at the last.
  • 26'
The snow on the ground is really affecting visibility, and the ref stops the game in order for the ball to be swapped. A deep orange ball is brought into play.
  • 24'
Eboue forces a corner with a purposeful overlapping run from deep. Sneijder's resulting delivery is not the best, but Riera is on a weak clearance at the top of the box, but he lashes it over the top.
  • 22'
Gala nearly ham it up at the back as Muslera and his back three mis-communicate on a routine through pass, but the keeper manages to hack clear just as Tevez was approaching.
  • 20'
Selcuk Inan waves Drogba and Sneijder away from a promising free kick 20 yards out and takes responsibility of the set piece all on his own. He needn't have bothered in retrospect, as the ball was bent harmlessly wide of Buffon's post.
  • 18'
    Yellow Card Claudio Marchisio
  • 18'
YOU'VE ONLY COME TO SEE EBOUE! Juve are pissed as the Irovian fullback appeared to have gone down rather theatrically under a Marchisio challenge. Replays definitely show a foul, but Eboue's embellishment sells the ref on a yellow for Marchisio.
  • 16'
Llorente takes a splendid first touch in the box and unexpectedly tries to hook an effort into the top corner. Everyone stands and watches the ball, including Muslera, who sees it go the wrong side of his post! Let off!
  • 14'
Interesting to see the battle unfold between Felipe Melo and Arturo Vidal in the centre of the park. The Brazilian Melo spent a few years in Turin with the Old Lady, but never quite made the grade. In many ways, Vidal has become the two-way player that Juve always wanted Melo to be.
  • 12'
Snow beginning to mix in with the hail over the Turk Telekom Arena. Things will get interesting down on the pitch.
  • 10'
It's dreadful set pieces at both ends, as a Juve corner is made into mincemeat by Kaya at the near post.
  • 8'
And it's Tevez who takes charge of the set piece himself, aiming the ball towards Chiellini, who swings and misses completely. The Gala fans howl in delight.
  • 7'
Tevez and his ugly beard go running down the left, but Eboue takes him out clumsily. Free kick to come for Juve.
  • 5'
Two corners in quick succession for the home side, but both times, they fail to get it anywhere near Drogba or one of the other menacing targets in the area. Poor.
  • 3'
Juve booed lustily with every touch of the ball. It's been Gala who have seen plenty of the ball in the opening exchanges, with Sneijder getting a lot of touches.
  • 1'
    Gala get the ball rolling.
  • It's an expected lineup from Antonio Conte, with Andrea Pirlo, the only regular starter missing through injury, replaced by Claudio Marchisio, who mans the middle alongside the in-form Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba.
  • Wesley Sneijder starts for the home side after nearly two months out with injury, while Roberto Mancini has set his side up in an attacking 3-5-2 formation. Burak Yilmaz and Didider Drogba will do the heavy lifting up front.
  • Juventus: Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci, Lichtsteiner, Pogba, Marchisio, Asamoah, Vidal, Tévez, Llorente. SUBS: Storari, Martín Cáceres, Ogbonna, Padoin, Isla, Giovinco, Quagliarella.
  • Galatasaray: Muslera, Gökhan Zan, Chedjou, Semih Kaya, Eboué, Felipe Melo, Selçuk İnan, Sneijder, Riera, Drogba, Burak Yılmaz. SUBS: Ufuk Ceylan, Nounkeu, Ceyhun Gülselam, Bruma, Yekta Kurtuluş, Emre Çolak, Umut Bulut.
  • It's all come down to the wire in Group B. Juve are two points ahead of Gala in the race to finish second behind Real Madrid. The Italians need only avoid defeat to sew up qualification, but here in the Turkish capital behind their frightening fanbase, Gala are capable of anything.
  • Greetings everyone, and welcome to the final matchday of the group stages, as Galatasaray take on Juventus in Istanbul. I'm Keeghann Sinanan, your designated scribe for all the action.
