  • Iker Casillas

    Iker Casillas

Was the most bored man in the Santiago Bernabeu tonight as he barely had anything to do all evening. However, burst into life in the dying minutes of the game to deny Copenhagen a consolation with three superb saves.

  • Pepe
    83
    13
    3.00

    Pepe

Recovered from an extremely nasty blow to his head in the first half to put in a solid performance at the back. Never allowed the attackers any room to manoeuvre and distributed well from the back.

  • Daniel Carvajal

    3.00

    Daniel Carvajal

Didn't have much to do defensively and prospered in his role higher up the park. Passing inside could have been better, but was always available on the right-hand side as an extra attacker.

  • Marcelo
    115
    2
    3.50

    Marcelo

Displayed a terrific engine down the left wing and linked up superbly well with Ronaldo. Regularly hit the byline and gained an assist for the opening goal with a signature run and cross into the box.

  • Raphaël Varane

    3.00

    Raphaël Varane

Strolled through the match and barely broke a sweat as he constantly intercepted through balls with ease, swept up the play at the back, and robbed attackers of possession. Very classy.

  • Sami Khedira

    10
    3.00

    Sami Khedira

Regularly put out fires in the middle of the park and was always in the face of the Copenhagen midfield looking to win back possession. Didn't try too much offensively as he passed the buck on to more creative players.

  • Luka Modric
    130

    3.50

    Luka Modric

Excelled in his further forward position of just behind the striker. Was all over the park creating play and prospered spraying balls from deep also. Only negative was a yellow card for a poor challenge on Gislason.

  • Ángel Di María

Ángel Di María Top of the Match

Wasn't having the best of nights then exploded into life in the second period, earning an assist and two goals. Set-up Ronaldo's second with an outrageous cross and finished his own goals superbly.

  • Asier Illarramendi
    61
    20
    3.00

    Asier Illarramendi

Was tasked with creating play from deeper areas and patrolling the middle of the park. Distributed the ball well without being too spectacular and was always neat in possession.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo
    193
    18
    4.00

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Opened the scoring with a predatory header in the first half and netted his second with a bullet header inside the six-yard box. Had a couple of shots that went wayward but bulldozed the Copenhagen defence at times.

  • Karim Benzema
    60
    48
    3.00

    Karim Benzema

Did well with his back to goal and had a big hand in Ronaldo's second when he cleverly flicked the ball through for Di Maria. However, he never really looked like scoring himself.

Substitutions

  • Isco

    Isco

Floated in and around his favourite areas and was stabs some nice passes around.

  • Jesé Rodríguez

    2

    Jesé Rodríguez

    Late cameo.

  • Morata
    81
    6

    Morata

Tested the gloves of the goalkeeper with a rasper of a strike from the right.

  • Johan Wiland

    2.50

    Johan Wiland

Made a horrible misjudgement that gifted Ronaldo the opening goal of the match. However, despite conceding four goals, pulled off a number of solid saves.

  • Lars Jacobsen
    1
    9
    2.00

Lars Jacobsen Flop of the Match

Showed decent ambition down the right. Regularly got into the final third and put some cracking balls into the box. Struggled terribly against the pace of Marcelo though and regularly allowed him in behind.

  • Pierre Bengtsson
    2
    5
    3.00

    Pierre Bengtsson

Went on a couple of excellent marauding runs down the left-hand side that took the pressure off his side. However, was given a tough time by Di Maria who looked dangerous every time he cut in from the right wing.

  • Olof Mellberg
    2
    5
    2.50

    Olof Mellberg

Was involved in a running aerial duel with Ronaldo and got the better of him a few times. However, struggled when dealing with the nimble Madrid frontline and was caught on his heels getting back too often, despite some decent interceptions.

  • Ragnar Sigurdsson
    2
    5
    3.00

    Ragnar Sigurdsson

Put in a couple of very important last-ditch interceptions, most notably against Luka Modric. However, was posted missing for Ronaldo's opener and allowed the ball to float over his head far too easily.

  • Claudemir
    1
    4
    2.50

    Claudemir

Showed some bite in the middle of midfield but was also caught in possession in some criminal positions inside his own half. Should have done better with a chance on the edge of the box, but bounced a shot harmlessly wide.

  • Thomas Delaney
    1
    4
    2.50

    Thomas Delaney

Showed some classy touches when in possession but as he and his team hardly seen the ball, he was unable to affect the game. Frustration showed late on as he went into the book for a late challenge on Isco.

  • Nicolai Jörgensen
    1
    4
    2.50

    Nicolai Jörgensen

Was extremely unlucky not to grab an equaliser in the first period when he crashed a bullet header off the underside of the crossbar. However, didn't offer much else in terms of movement and didn't cause too many other problems.

  • Rurik Gislason
    2
    4
    3.00

    Rurik Gislason

Was the more anonymous member of the Copenhagen midfield as he rarely saw the ball down that right wing. Failed to help out his right-back as he allowed Marcelo to run behind on the overlap time and time again.

  • Daniel Braaten
    1
    4
    2.50

    Daniel Braaten

Spent his first half giving away needless free kicks inside his own half and bursting Pepe's face open due to a head collision. Didn't have much to offer in terms of a footballing aspect, as he never threatened up top.

  • Youssef Toutouh
    2
    4
    3.00

    Youssef Toutouh

Tested the gloves of Casillas early on with a rasper of a strike from the edge of the area. However, after this he drifted out of the match terribly and was anonymous until he was taken off in the second half.

Substitutions

  • Thomas Kristensen
    1
    3

    Thomas Kristensen

Never made an impact after his second half introduction.

  • Christian Bolaños
    3
    4
    3.00

    Christian Bolaños

Came on in the second period and actually posed a bit of a threat.

  • Fanendo Adi
    2
    3

    Fanendo Adi

Posed a slight physical threat, but nothing materialised for him
