Player Ratings: India 1-0 Pakistan

The Shahins gifted India with a lucky win and in fairness deserved at least a draw against the Wim Koevermans' side

Subrata Paul Top of the Match

He did justice to the starting role handed to him ahead of Karanjit Singh, by pulling off three good saves which were worth three points. Could be considered lucky to get away with a yellow card for his challenge on Hassan Bashir outside the box in the 18th minute.

  • Arnab Mondal

    Arnab Mondal

The defender showed good positional sense and dealt with the aerial duels well. He however looked uncomfortable when he was dragged on to the wings where Pakistan looked the better side.

  • Nirmal Chettri

    Nirmal Chettri

It was his harmless cross that resulted in the own goal off Pakistan captain Samar Ishaq. The 22-year-old defended well too, often in the right place to effect needed clearances.

  • Nallappan Mohanraj

    Nallappan Mohanraj

The defender was very left footed and looked puzzled whenever he got the ball on his right foot. Overall, a shambolic second half with Pakistani winger Muhammad Adil running past him on every occsasion.

  • Francis Fernandes

    Francis Fernandes

The Salgaocar winger performed well in flashes, causing some trouble for Pakistan left back Md. Ahmed. Should have scored in the 84th minute, when given the opportunity.

  • Gouramangi Singh

    Gouramangi Singh

The Manipuri stopper-back had a decent outing on the evening pairing up with Arnab Mondal, but could have been punished for allowing Hassan bashir space around the Indian area.

  • Lenny Rodrigues

    Lenny Rodrigues

The 26-year-old was found chasing the ball more than winning it. His weak passing didn't help the cause as Indian struggled to retain possession.

  • Mehtab Hossain

    Mehtab Hossain

The East Bengal midfielder spread the ball better than Lenny Rodrigues, but wasn't able to drive the ball ahead to Sunil Chhetri quite effectively.

  • Alwyn George

    Alwyn George

Alwyn George was neither able to press the opponents as much as expected, nor was he able to do much on the ball, before being replaced by Jewel Raja at the beginning of the second half.

  • Jeje Lalpekhlua

    Jeje Lalpekhlua

The Mizoram lad didn't have much to account for in the first half, but did combine well with Chhetri as the match went on.

  • Sunil Chhetri

    Sunil Chhetri

Needing two goals to beat I.M.Vijayan's record to become India's highest goal-scorer, Chhetri was virtually absent in the first half and failed with his finishing in the second half.

India's Mr. versatile showed his experience to restore his side's composure at the back and kept Muhammad Adil in check.

  • Jewel Raja

    Jewel Raja

He pressed the ball well after coming on, precisely what he was brought on to do, but could have done better in the attacking third.

  • Yousof Butt

    Yousof Butt

The custodian commanded his box well, and had a surprisingly peaceful first half. Had more work to do after Sunil Chhetri woke up in the second half, but dealt with what was thrown at him well. Could do nothing for the goal.

  • Faisal Iqbal
    5
    2
    2.50

    Faisal Iqbal

Profited from playing on the same wing as Adil, which meant Jeje was always too busy trying to help his wing-back, to do much against Iqbal. Was solid when called into action, but perhaps could have done more, going forward.

  • Kamran Khan

Kamran Khan Flop of the Match

Poor communication from him led to the goal, which proved vital in the result. Was subbed off in the first half itself, as Zesh Rehman moved into central defense.

  • Muhammed Ahmed

    2.50

    Muhammed Ahmed

Was involved in an interesting tussle with Francisco Fernandes down the wing, and battled hard to get the better of the Goan player. Was still beaten on occasions, but held his own for most of the game.

  • Samar Ishaq

    3
    2.00

    Samar Ishaq

Credited with the own goal, after a complete breakdown in communication with Kamran Khan. Looked shaky until Kamran was subbed. Improved well alongside Zesh Rehman, but still had problems when Chhetri ran at him in the second half.

  • Zeshan Rehman

    3.00

    Zeshan Rehman

Started as a defensive midfielder, before slotting into the centre-back position. Bought calm into what was earlier a very unstable backline, and was assured in possession.

  • Adnan Farooq Ahmed

    Adnan Farooq Ahmed

Much was expected of the England based attacking midfielder, but he delivered only in flashes. Showed good dribbling skills on occasions, but also went missing for durations of the game. While dubbed as the star of the team, Adil and Hasan comfortably stole the show.

  • Muhammad Adil

    Muhammad Adil

Absolute tore Mohanraj to shreds, and had the beating of both, the former Pune FC wing-back, and Jeje Lalpekhlua, all game. Drifted in to create havoc, and linked up well with Hasan Basir. Only thing that was lacking, was a goal.

  • Muhammad Riaz
    4
    2
    2.50

    Muhammad Riaz

The youngster looked confident on the ball, and showed some decent movement as well. Had a couple of looks at goal, but failed to make the most of them.

  • Hassan Bashir

    Hassan Bashir

At times the forward looked unplayable, and had good physical presence. Ran the channels well, and always seemed to have the ability to beat an opponent. However he failed to convert the chances that came his way, and that must frustrate the striker, who did everything else, very well.

  • Kaleem Ullah

    2.50

    Kaleem Ullah

Linked up well with the striker and played a key role in Pakistan's domination of midfield. Pressed well when not in possession, and had a couple of chances to score the equalizer himself.
