A sublime performance from Sergio Aguero inspired the visitors to their first away win of the Premier League season, with the Hammers struggling to break down a tough defence

Did everything that was asked of him when called upon, including a fine save from a Yaya Toure thunderbolt near the end of the first half.

    Winston Reid

Should have done better for Aguero's second with the striker allowed a lot of space to head the ball home. Looked to be struggling as the game wore on in a fairly arduous display.

    James Tomkins

Was strong in the header and not afraid to venture forward when invited. Was caught out for Aguero's first goal but often found himself in the right place otherwise.

The makeshift left-back was often found out of position in defence, while his decision making was at times suspect, but made strides going forward as he teamed up with Ricardo Vaz Te down the flank.

    Guy Demel

The most unassuming of West Ham's midfield five, but supplied a sufficient support to the defence when the likes of Nolan and Morrison darted up field.

  • Kevin Nolan

The captain was once again the heatbeat of all that was good with West Ham in the first half, although was perhaps lucky to be shown just a yellow card for a challenge. His influence started to falter in the second half as West Ham's grip on the game slipped.

  • Ravel Morrison

    Ravel Morrison

The man-of-the-moment was again lively for the hosts, bringing cheers from the crowd with a few neat tricks - including his lift over his shoulder for Vaz Te's goal - but his rawness at this level is still evident with his decision making at time suspect.

  • Mark Noble

    Mark Noble

Partnered brilliantly with Nolan in the centre of the pitch, but his penchant to look for the Hollywood pass was to his side’s detriment at times.

    Mohamed Diame

Is still yet to find his form of last season but performed admirably against the likes of Yaya Toure. Was key to keeping Samir Nasri - who had a torrid game - quiet.

  • Stewart Downing

    Stewart Downing

Completely anonymous in the first half, with Ricardo Vaz Te taking up the mantle on the left-hand side and Ravel Morrison catching the eye on the right. Grew in the second half as Richards started to tire but still not as effective as Allardyce would have liked.

  • Ricardo Vaz Te

    Ricardo Vaz Te

As hard working and industrious as we have come to expect from the striker and was not afraid to go searching for the ball with West Ham up against it for the majority. Scored a terrific overhead kick from such harrying, before being taken off shortly afterwards.

Could do little in the final 25 minutes with West Ham chasing the game.

    Matthew Jarvis

Was brought on for goalscorer Vaz Te shortly after West Ham scored, but failed to match the pace of the game.

    Mladen Petric

    Late substitute for Nolan.

  • Joe Hart

    Joe Hart

Has been the subject of much critique of late, but wasn’t really even given the opportunity to impress with City so dominant and West Ham sloppy in the final third.

  • Micah Richards

    3.00

    Micah Richards

Showed signs of rustiness in the opening stages of his first Premier League outing this season, but grew into the game. Started to tire in the second half and looked at times at as if he was possibly being too stretched by the likes of Vaz Te, but impressive overall.

Solid, but nothing more. Struggled at times with Morrison but won the battle overall.

  • Matija Nastasic

    Matija Nastasic

More fine work from the centre-back. He commanded the defence - which was completely changed from the last outing - with maturity. Comfortably first-choice in Pellegrini's eyes.

  • Samir Nasri

Samir Nasri Flop of the Match

Offered little-to-none attacking threat and was equally lost when backtracking. Out of character considering his recent form, and a display he will be keen to forget soon.

  • Javi García

    Javi García

Often seen as a weak link in defence for City, but coped well against a relatively toothless West Ham attack.

  • David Silva

    David Silva

Delightful to watch. With Yaya Toure making the space, Silva was filling it. Linked up well with Aguero and showed all his balance and skill for his goal late on.

  • Fernandinho

    Fernandinho

Was perhaps outshone by Silva and Yaya Toure, and is definitely not as eye-catching but had a job to protect the back four and spot the odd forward run - and did it.

  • Yaya Touré

    Yaya Touré

More of the highly polished, all-round impressiveness from the midfielder who was the hard-working ying to Silva’s yang. His through-ball to Aguero saw City open the scoring and was unlucky not to notch himself after finding a pocket of space 18 yards from goal.

  • Negredo

    Negredo

Continually found space and filled space, and was Aguero’s workhorse of a right-hand man. A brilliant piece of on-the-spot decision making saw him allow the ball to pass through his legs for Aguero’s first. A fine display.

  • Sergio Agüero

Sergio Agüero Top of the Match

In sublime form. Was hungry from the off and finished off both goals with aplomb. Linked up extremely well with Alvaro Negredo and David Silva all game. The standout performer.

    Aleksandar Kolarov

Came on with 15 mins to play and saw out any possible West Ham comeback with ease. An assured cameo.

  • James Milner

    James Milner

Came on for Nasri and showed slightly more desire - which wasn't hard. Too late to effect the game, though.

  • Stevan Jovetic

    Stevan Jovetic

    A late substitution for Aguero.
