    Diego Benaglio

Commanded his penalty area well. He made a vital interception on Hulk's cross in the first half before denying the Zenit man in a one-on-one minutes later. With him in goal it is little wonder the Swiss are so hard to score against.

  • Philippe Senderos

    Philippe Senderos

Found it difficult to cope with the pace of Oscar and Hulk running at him from deep. His marking from set pieces was also far from perfect and in open play he was clumsy when tackling.

  • Ricardo Rodriguez

    3.00

    Ricardo Rodriguez

Attempted to push on whenever he could, which occasionally gifted Hulk more space than he should have been allowed. Nevertheless, he was a positive support for Stocker and helped pen Brazil back.

  • Stephan Lichtsteiner

    Stephan Lichtsteiner

Struggled to get to grips with Neymar, whose nonchalant yet quick feet were a source of much frustration for the right-back. He grew in confidence as the game went on and began to cause problems when moving forward.

  • Timm Klose

    Timm Klose

Was on the field for the full 90 minutes and after a shaky start he proved capable of coping with Fred in the final third. He was powerful in the air and will be delighted to have helped keep a clean sheet.

  • Blerim Dzemaili
    1

    3.50

    Blerim Dzemaili

Was combative when defending but energetic whenever he got on the ball. His running helped Switzerland turn defence into attack quickly and he was also up to help his team-mates try and test Jefferson.

  • Granit Xhaka

    Granit Xhaka

The Borussia Monchengladbach man showed his intelligence with some brilliant passing in the final third. He was hungry for the ball as he pressed the Brazil defence quickly, and sent some dangerous shots on goal from range.

  • Valon Behrami

    Valon Behrami

Played the full 90 minutes and did not stop working for his team. His industry in the midfield was integral to Switzerland's dominance and he competed for every single ball in the centre of the field.

  • Valentin Stocker

    3.00

    Valentin Stocker

Stretched the Brazil defence by hugging the left flank and forcing Alves to hold back and defend. His touch and link-up play were good but his delivery was not always up to scratch.

  • Xherdan Shaqiri

Xherdan Shaqiri Top of the Match

Will have made Pep Guardiola pay attention with an excellent performance. Floating in from the right his energy and dynamism made Switzerland look a real threat. His passing and shooting were brilliant all evening.

  • Haris Seferovic

    3.50

    Haris Seferovic

Worked his socks off as the lone striker, continually hunting down the ball and refusing to give the defender's a moments peace. His cross lead to Dani Alves turning into his own net in the second half.

    Jefferson

Had a few worrying moments as he almost let Xhaka's shot slip into the net in the first half and then nearly gifted Seferovic a simple tap in. Still, he managed to make a couple of good saves from long-range efforts by Shaqiri.

  • Daniel Alves

Daniel Alves Flop of the Match

Was forced to hold back and defend more than he would liked as Switzerland proved dangerous on the break. He had to resort to playing long passes and scored an embarrassing own goal in the second half.

  • Dante

    1
    3.00

    Dante

Came into the heart of defence for the injured David Luiz and staked his claim for a starting spot with a measured display. Alongside Thiago Silva, he coped with Seferovic and did well when outnumbered against the counterattack.

  • Marcelo

    1
    3.00

    Marcelo

Regularly pushed on and combined with Neymar to overload Lichtsteiner but often left his team short defensively. He was caught out as Switzerland broke forward and opened the scoring in the second half.

  • Thiago Silva

    3.00

    Thiago Silva

Read the game well and anticipated the play brilliantly. He was composed in possession and rarely gave the ball away, even when put under pressure. He was not worried by Seferovic when play was on the floor.

  • Luiz Gustavo

    2.50

    Luiz Gustavo

Was outplayed in the middle of the park. He worked hard but was unable to match the intensity of his Swiss counterparts. He will need to improve in order to hold his place following Scolari's recent comments.

  • Oscar

    2
    2.50

    Oscar

Had a glorious chance in the first half but was unable to hit the target from an acute angle. He struggled to dictate the tempo of the game as Brazil lacked a link from defence to attack.

  • Paulinho

    1
    3.00

    Paulinho

Hit the bar with a header shortly before half time, but it had taken him up until that point to push on and help his team worry the Swiss. He did play some clever passes throughout which is an area of his game that looks to be improving.

  • Fred

    1
    2.50

    Fred

The striker struggled to get involved in the action throughout his stint on the pitch. He was caught offside far to frequently and failed to find an opportunity to test Benaglio in a disappointing display.

  • Hulk

    2.50

    Hulk

Seemed to be continually running into dead ends in the first half and gave away possession far too cheaply. He missed a glorious opportunity to open the scoring in the first half and only showed small glimpses of his ability.

  • Neymar

    3.00

    Neymar

Started brightly as his nonchalant yet speedy feet caused Lichtsteiner much frustration. He managed to get a few efforts away on goal and supplied the cross as Paulinho hit the bar, but he took a back seat in the second half.
