Meghalaya's Rangdajied United FC keep themselves in contention for the I-League after beating Shillong-based Langsning SC 3-1 in a Round 2 encounter of the I-League division II Final Phase, in Bangalore, on Monday.
Daniel Bedemi had broken the deadlock in the match, heading in a cross sent in by Lastborn Surong in the eighth minute, after which Babatunde's hat-trick was enough to pick three points for the club formerly known as Ar-Hima.
The Nigerian's first goal came in the 48th minute when he tapped in a pass by Jeribe Kelechi. In the 64th minute, Babatunde struck again with a solo effort down the left flank and going on to beat Langsning keeper Laishram Prem Kumar Singh, before completing his hat-trick 10 minutes later.
Rangdajied United are equal on points (13) with Bhawanipore FC, who are trailing leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club by four points, as the battle remains between the trio - from which two teams will qualify for next season's I-League competition.
