Southern Samity beat Eagles FC 1-0, riding on Basanta Singh's 34th minute goal, to register the first win of the campaign, in a match played at Bangalore, on Thursday.
In the day's later fixture, Mumbai Tigers FC staged came from behind to beat Kalighat Milan Sangha 2-1. Iyokwobe Ghizoba Christopher had given Kalighat the lead in the 40th minute after capitalising on a Kali Alaudeen clearance that landed in the path of the Nigerian, who slotted past Arup Debnath from inside the penalty area.
Alaudeen however was saved by his team's dramatic come-back at the death. Former India midfielder NP Pradeep began the fight-back by converting a free-kick in the 90th minute, before Senegalese striker Demba Dikhate headed home the winner four minutes later.
Mumbai Tigers FC hence lead the table with four points from two matches, with a better goal difference than Southern Samity and Vasco SC in their group, while Kalighat are fifth in the standings with three points from two matches.
