  An impressive game from the Australia international in midfield, kept Ramires' influence to a minimum for the most part and spread the play neatly when on the ball, spraying a number of fine passes across the park.

  The former Celtic man has only recently worked his way back into the first-team picture due to injuries, but he put in a strong evening's work against Torres, leaving the Spaniard to fight for scraps as he was forced out of position.

  Wildly erratic. The Belgian took Ryan Bertrand out of the game completely with a couple of delightful touches, but also tripped over his own feet on one occasion as he ultimately frustrated from the right.

  Sat deep in midfield and quelled Oscar magnificently, tracking the Brazilian all over the pitch. Sent a couple of threatening set-pieces in, but nothing good enough to beat the Chelsea defence.

  Nicky Bailey

  Boro's No.10 llined up at right-back, despite usually playing in midfield and looked to maraud forward at every opportunity, although left gaps behind him that were eventually ruthlessly exposed by Hazard after his introduction.

  Hustled and harried Terry throughout, although often found himself easily muscled off the ball. Did not manage a sniff at goal in his 62 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Miller.

  Showed flashes of skill with a couple of mazy runs, although often dwelled on the ball too long and missed his opportunity to create chances. Stung the palms of Cech with a low drive that the Chelsea man almost parried back into danger.

  Wasted a glorious chance on 25 minutes as he could only steer a free header from 10 yards wide of Cech's left-hand post, but showed a surprising amount of strength to hold the ball up against Ivanovic and Terry, proving a handy out-ball for Boro.

  Lined up in the heart of defence alongside Terry and went head-to-head with McDonald for the most part. Found the stocky Australian tough to beat in the air despite a height advantage and his long passes from the back were almost entirely aimless and retrieved by Boro's defence.
