Well what a night we've had, folks, a real final to remember!

Ups, downs, and everything inbetween, I know I certainly won't be forgetting this one in a hurry.

A huge thanks to our men on the ground in Munich, our editorial staff, the players and fans of the teams, my fellow live commentators, and of course YOU, our wonderful readers, who have been with us through the entire campaign this season!

This is Stephen Crawford signing off for the evening and for the final Champions League match of the season. We'll see you again soon for the Euros!

Congratulations Chelsea, commiserations Bayern – and a very good night to all!

Some controversial reader reaction now, as Matt Blas vents his frustration as the Blues' style of play: “Chelsea played garbage football with a San Marino-style defence (everybody behind the ball for 90 minutes) – it was awful to watch. If it wasn't for Ashley Cole and Petr Cech they would have been blown out.”

Conversely, Ayo Ajogun's opinion is in stark contrast: “You get what you deserve. It is not about the number of chances created, but about the number converted. Playing functional and efficient football carries the day.”

Franz Beckenbauer himself has said that Chelsea deserved the win tonight:

"Bayern were the better team for most of the match, but they failed to convert their dominance [into goals].

“Luck was on Chelsea's side this time, but they are deserved Champions League winners.”

Lets get some fan reaction, shall we?

Kiki Hazel, one of our Facebook faithful, had this to say when asked if Chelsea deserved the win: “We did! Both teams played well, but I guess the team that wanted it the most won.”

Sorunke Babatunde Emmanuel, on the other hand, feels that the Bavarians threw the trophy away: “Bayern gifted the crown to Chelsea. They only have themselves to blame.”

AC Milan's Netherlands international Urby Emanuelson has taken to Twitter to give his thoughts on the final:

“Chelsea the winner of the CL.. What a final.. Bayern deserved more.. Big up to Robben..”

Lets get some reaction from the pitch now, where Thomas Muller has shared a few words with the press.

“This is football,” a dejected Muller said. “We have seen it in the past: it is not always the better team that has the cup in the end.

“When you score in front of your own fans so close to the end and then you watch Chelsea lift the cup... it's hard to find words for that.

“But football is not everything in life."

I think some Bayern fans might disagree with the last part...

With Mario Gomez performing so poorly in front of goal this evening, he failed to make up the ground he needed to finish the campaign as the Champions League's top scorer, meaning the award falls to...
