Gor Mahia started their journey in the Group stages of Caf Confederation Cup with a one all draw away to Rayon Sports of Rwanda.
Despite taking an early lead, the Kenyan champions allowed their opponents to come back and get an undeserved point. Another Group D match was between Algerian side USM Alger against Tanzanian side Young Africans (Yanga), a match that ended 4-0 in favor of the hosts.
As it stands, USM Alger lead the Group with three points, followed by Gor Mahia, Rayon Sports and Yanga respectively.
The Dylan Kerr coached side will be hosting the North African giants on Wednesday at Kasarani, Nairobi. This is a match that will determine, who goes top of the Group considering the fact that it is position one facing position two. At the end of the day, either Gor Mahia or USM might drop to third on the table.

Against Hull City, the team had clear scoring opportunities that went begging. USM is a good side, this is a competition that involves money, a lot on that matter. The conversion rate has to improve or else things might not go as planned. Against Esperance, lost chances came back to haunt them, it was almost the same case against SuperSport United. Pace is the main weapon used by teams from North Africa. Their players are quick on the ball and if given time, they can hurt really bad. The only way to ensure that does not happen, is by limiting them time on the ball. Aggressive and physical play can definitely do the trick like it did against Esperance. Gor Mahia should stick to their game and ensure they execute the strategy as planned.
