Although the win only pushed Negeri from 12th to 11th in the table and still within the relegation zone, it would have still been a big relief to let someone else fill the last spot.

The win gives Negeri 11 points, three shy of a trio of team just ahead of them and crucially three points ahead of Kelantan.

Two penalties, two hand balls, one each from K. Gurusamy and Zachary Anderson gave the home side a comfortable lead in the match.

On both occasions, Flavio Beck Junior step up confidently to send Shahril Saari the wrong way to convert the penalty kick.

Ferris Danial's goal in the 69th minute came after Angel Guirado won a header in the the box to feed the former.

PKNS did score probably the best goal of the match when Romel Morales slammed home an unstoppable volley but it was nothing more than a scant consolation for the Red Ants.

The defeat meant the visitors lose out on the chance to nudge their way into the top four and remains in sixth as a result.
