Persatuan Bola Sepak Melayu Selangor (PBMS) knew they faced a mammoth task when they were drawn against Perak in the FA Cup second round. A resounding 3-0 defeat isn't a loss that is unexpected and PBMS' head coach Zulakbal Karim accepted the fact his side lost to a better team.

"We know and are realistic that Perak has the advantage from all aspect. However, we did our best and I'm pleased with our performance. We played the way we planned. We are not overly disappointed because we only plan for the FAM League and there are only good things that we can learn from this game," said Zulakbal at the post-match conference.

The FAM League coach went on to explain why he was pleased with his team and had it not been because of inexperienced players, they could have provided a stiffer opposition to their Super League counterpart.

"All three goals came from individual mistakes and from players who are new to the team. We'll learn from there and do our homework," added Zulakbal.

PBMS are placed in Group B of the 2017 FAM League together with Kuching FA, SAMB FC, Terengganu City FC, PJ Rangers FC, Penjara FC and Sime Darby FC. They will open their campaign against Kuching and PMBS are targetting for a successful campaign this season.

"Our target is to be the best four in the group and advance to the quarter finals," said Zulakbal.

Despite being handed a David v Goliath tie against Perak, it was certainly disappointing for the PBMS not to get their day in the sun. This due to the match being played behind closed doors following suspension handed to Perak. The players would have relished playing in front of a big crowd but captain, Fadli Baharudin echoed the same sentiment.

"Slightly disappointing not to be able to play in front of crowd today but on the other hand, we didn't need the crowd to motivate us. We did our best but luck wasn't with us. Perak has the advantage as they have imports. We'll concentrate on our FAM League matches," said Fadli.
