Jonathan Pitroipa scores on Royal Antwerp debut

Jonathan Pitroipa was quick to announce his arrival at Royal Antwerp as he found the net in their 4-0 demolition of Spanish lower tier outfit, FC Torrevieja.

The Burkina Faso international teamed up with the Belgian First Division A side this month to relaunch his career as he has been without a club since he left Al Nasr in July last year.

Faris Haroun started the party for Laszlo Boloni’s men in the eighth minute before Geoffry Hairemans doubled their lead just before the interval.

In the 71st minute, Egor Nazarina increased the scoreline and Pitroipa put the icing on the cake two minutes later.

The forward was named 2013 Africa Cup of Nations player of the tournament after helping Burkina Faso to the final where they eventually lost to Nigeria.

The former Rennes player will be looking to replicate this sort of form if he gets to make his competitive debut when Royal Antwerp welcome table toppers, Club Brugge to Bosuilstadion on January 21 for their first league outing of the year.
