Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend India’s first match in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 against the USA on Friday, October 6th at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi. India are placed in Group A alongside USA, Colombia and Ghana. Colombia and Ghana lock horns in the first match of the tournament earlier on the same day.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel had mentioned last week that he had extended an invitation to Shri Narendra Modi to attend India's opening match on October 6.

This is the first time in history, that a FIFA World Cup will take place in India. Six venues (Kochi, Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Guwahati and Kolkata) will host all the matches of the tournament and the final will take place in Kolkata’s famous Salt Lake Stadium.
