Jose Mourinho has hinted that he will be in the market for South American flair this summer, but who is likely to figure on the Red Devils' wish list?

Manchester United are expected to be busy once again during the summer transfer window, with Jose Mourinho ready to inject more funds into a squad expected to challenge on all fronts in 2018-19.

The Portuguese has hinted that he will look to add a splash of South American flair to his ranks at Old Trafford, telling ESPN : "I think that a team without a Brazilian isn't a team. I think their talent is fantastic and the creativity of the Brazilian player cannot be measured. If a European team, like, very European, could have a Brazilian in their squad, it would bring a 'Brazilian thing' to the game and I think that's very important."

Who, then, could figure on the Red Devils' wish list?

  1. Neymar

    Current club: Paris Saint-Germain

The ultimate Brazilian signing. Has been heavily linked with a switch to Real Madrid, but United boast the financial muscle to challenge the Blancos if they want to compete for what would likely be a record-breaking deal.

  2. Willian

    Current club: Chelsea

Was taken to Stamford Bridge by Mourinho in 2013 and is the man to have sparked the summer transfer hint from United’s boss. Has previously claimed that he wants to spend “more years” in west London.

  3. Malcom

    Current club: Bordeaux

Missed out on a January switch to Arsenal, much to his annoyance, but has seen the path cleared for a summer switch to England. The Gunners are likely to rekindle their interest, while Tottenham, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the running.

  4. Fabinho

    Current club: Monaco

Was said to be a target for Mourinho in the summer of 2017, prior to United snapping up Nemanja Matic. Could come back into contention 12 months on, with the 24-year-old admitting that his time at Monaco is “coming to an end”.

  5. Lincoln

    Current club: Flamengo

Made his professional debut at just 16 years of age to attract admiring glances from leading sides across Europe. United are among those ready to buy into the teenage striker’s potential, along with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

  6. Marquinhos

    Current club: Paris Saint-Germain

Has been a long-standing target for United, with Goal revealing that he was the subject of €70 million interest in the summer of 2017. Mourinho remains in the market for a centre-half and could head back to Parc des Princes to get his man.

  7. Alex Sandro

    Current club: Juventus

Chelsea and United both missed out on the highly-rated left-back last year, but the Red Devils still have issues to address in that area of the field. Has played down the links to England, but is also yet to sign a new contract in Turin.

  8. Anderson Talisca

    Current club: Benfica

On loan at Turkish side Besiktas at present, who remain keen on pushing through a permanent deal. Roma and Wolves have also been credited with holding an interest in a forward expected to be on the move for around £35 million this summer.

  9. Richarlison

    Current club: Watford

Another of those being linked with Bayern, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain on the back of an impressive debut season in the Premier League. United are, however, reported to be leading a £40 million hunt for his signature.

  10. David Luiz

    Current club: Chelsea

Sold by Mourinho in January 2014, with the enigmatic centre-half leaving Stamford Bridge for Paris Saint-Germain. Has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte since returning to England, with Goal revealing recently that Monaco are keen on taking him back to Ligue 1.

  11. Jorginho

    Current club: Napoli

An Italy international, but Brazil born so still fits the mould for Mourinho. Could be a man to spark a transfer scrap similar to that which saw United lock horns with arch-rivals City for Alexis Sanchez. Goal has revealed that Pep Guardiola is readying a £50 million raid.

  12. Andreas Pereira

    Current club: Manchester United

A man already on the Red Devils’ books, and another of those who technically ticks the right boxes. Born in Belgium but a Brazil U23 international, United saw enough in the 22-year-old to hand him a new contract before sending him on loan to Valencia. Is eager to make the grade at OId Trafford.
