Gomes has yet to sign his first professional contract with United and could leave Old Trafford for a nominal fee next summer, with Ronaldo reportedly telling Madrid president Florentino Perez that the European champions should sign the 17-year-old attacker.

Real Madrid are looking at Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa as a potential long-term replacement for Keylor Navas following their protracted pursuit of Manchester United’s David de Gea, claims Marca.

Kepa is out of contract at the end of the season and Athletic have spent the last 10 months trying to agree a new deal with the 22-year-old.

However, with no agreement reached, Madrid are now waiting in the wings to sign Kepa next summer in a deal which could also provide some relief in Manchester.

If Alexis decides against a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, then Perez will pursue a deal for Kane.
