Brentford - Swindon Betting Preview: Reliable Robins can be backed to sting Bees

Kevin MacDonald's side were denied by Kevin O'Connor's late equaliser on Saturday evening but Willie Duncan is backing them to seal their place in the play-off final
Kevin O’Connor’s late penalty salvaged a draw for Brentford against Swindon Town in the first leg of the League One play-off semi-final at County Ground on Saturday evening, and Uwe Rosler’s Bees will be looking to secure their place in the final at Wembley on May 19th when they play host to the Robins on Monday afternoon.

Brentford are chalked up at 11/10 (2.10) with William Hill to claim victory over Kevin MacDonald’s side when they meet again at Griffin Park while the away side are rated as a 5/2 (3.50) chance with the same firm to secure the win that will seal their place in the play-off final later this month. William Hill go 9/4 (3.25) that the match ends in stalemate.

Of course, only one of these sides will make it through to Wembley with this match set to be decided on the night and William Hill make the home side warm favourites at 1/2 (1.50) to qualify for the final while the Robins can be backed at an appealing 6/4 (2.50) to progress.

Brentford's top scorer Clayton Donaldson is priced up at 5/1 (6.0) with William Hill to open the scoring on Monday while the same firm offer 7/2 (4.50) that the 29-year-old striker nets at any time in a win for the Bees – a special “headline offer” from the odds compilers.

Swindon forward Andy Williams is the subject of William Hill’s “headline offer” for the away side, with the firm offering a chunky 9/1 (10.0) that the former Yeovil Town striker scores at any time in a win for the Robins.

However, that price looks to be somewhat skinny given that the 26-year-old has failed to score in any of his last 10 outings for Kevin MacDonald’s men and better value for Swindon Town backers can be found elsewhere.

Swindon’s top marksman this term, James Collins, was left on the substitutes’ bench for the first leg but the Irish striker could earn a recall for this match and the 22-year-old represents outstanding value at 6/1 (7.0) with William Hill to break the deadlock.

Swindon came agonisingly close to beating the Bees last time out and the Robins are excellent value at 6/4 (2.50) with William Hill to qualify for the League One play-off final while James Collins should be supported at 6/1 (7.0) with the same firm to open the scoring on Monday afternoon.
