Jim Knight returns with a 9/5 double from Saturday's Premier League action. His selections include both teams to score in a 19th consecutive Everton game
Time away from betting can actually be very beneficial, especially over such a busy period. Injuries mount up, squads become stretched and managerial changes can all impact on team's performances so having a rest period while keeping up to date with all the factors ahead of the new year can be a wise strategy.
Double: Norwich v Newcastle (Over 2.5 goals) and Everton v Swansea (Both Teams to Score)
Norwich v Newcastle
The Premier League has been filled with goals recently and that's a trend I'm hoping to profit from on Saturday.
Norwich have been going through a rocky patch and aside from their 3-0 win over Peterborough in the FA Cup, have lost their last four, albeit against stiff opposition at times. One trend in their recent home games is plenty of goals.
Four of their last five home matches in all competitions have gone over this line and they seems to lack the defensive solidity that they showed against the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal at Carrow Road earlier in the season.
Newcastle for their part are in a poor run of form too.
Four of their last five Premier League matches on the road have gone over 2.5 goals, the two most recent of those contained 17 goals.
Alan Pardew's side are struggling with injuries and although they've scored regularly, they can't seem to stop conceding at the other end. These factors should ensure there's a decent chance we see three or goals or more at Carrow Road.
Everton v Swansea
This bet has now landed in each of Everton's last 18 matches in all competitions. It's a remarkable record and one which could easily continue against Swansea this weekend.
The Swans have become draw specialists of late, with four of their last five matches before Wednesday's clash with Chelsea ending all square, but only one of those - against Reading - ended goalless.
Michu has been a revelation since he arrived in the Premier League and together with Danny Graham, Saturday's visitors have enough firepower to exploit a leaky Everton defence.
Both sides were in cup action this week and fielded relatively strong sides in their respective matches.
After a very hectic festive period it would be no surprise to see some players looking a little tired and the strikers coming out on top again.
Both teams to score is a 4/6 (1.67) shot with Paddy Power and added to the previous selection equals a double which returns 9/5 (2.80) and I'll place £15 of my betting bankroll on this selection.
