Rayo Vallecano - Levante Betting Preview: Why neither side will keep a clean sheet

Rayo Vallecano - Levante Betting Preview: Why neither side will keep a clean sheet

Latest Barcelona-Sevilla Betting Preview: Back both teams to score at Camp Nou Previous
By Phil Kitromilides
19 Dec 2012 14:24:00

Our Spanish expert Phil Kitromilides believes these two teams should serve up a match with goals at either end and has picked a 25/1 value bet

Bet: Returns: Getafe £22.00 Draw £33.00 Rayo Vallecano £32.00 WilliamHill
Bet: Returns: Getafe £22.00 Draw £32.00 Rayo Vallecano £32.00 PaddyPower
Bet: Returns: Getafe £21.00 Draw £35.00 Rayo Vallecano £32.50 Bet365
Rayo Vallecano continue to be one of the most erratic sides in La Liga.

Having lost their previous home match against Zaragoza 2-0 (Zaragoza's first clean sheet of the season), the side from Vallecas then went to Mestalla and recorded a famous 1-0 win against Valencia on Sunday evening.

It is difficult to know which Rayo will turn up for their final fixture of 2012, against a Levante team who are continuing to monumentally over achieve in sixth place. Paddy Power price a home victory at 5/4 (2.25), while a win for Levante can be backed at 2/1 (3.00) and the draw is offered at 23/10 (3.30).

Given Rayo's unpredictability this season and Levante's seemingly relentless capacity to spring surprises, the outright market does not particularly appeal.

Instead it is hard to look past both teams scoring which is offered at 8/11 (1.73) and looks like having a great chance of paying out.

While they have been hard to second guess at times this season, Rayo have on the whole been good going forward and woeful in defence.

This bet has paid out seven times in games involving Rayo this season, as well as in the previous three meetings between the two sides, and with Levante having scored in four of their last five away matches, backing goals at either end looks like a solid selection.

For some higher odds and a genuine value bet, try backing Levante half-time/Rayo full-time at 25/1 (26.00).

If matches ended at half-time, Rayo would be bottom of the table instead of 10th, with Paco Jemez's men trailing at the break in half of their league games. You could do worse than investing a smaller stake in another comeback for the home side.
