AFC Wimbledon - York Betting Preview: Expect low-scoring game but Wombles can set up cup showdown

The possibility of an FA Cup second round tie against MK Dons overshadows this clash at the Kingsmeadow and Adam Bate fancies the home side, but is not expecting many goals
AFC Wimbledon play host to York in an FA Cup first round replay on Monday and there is the prospect of a long awaited showdown with MK Dons in the next round looming large.

That tie is dependant upon the Milton Keynes side that was formed after the relocation of the old Wimbledon team, beating Cambridge City on Tuesday.

And while AFC Wimbledon fans are adamant it is no grudge match, the rest of English football is intrigued to see the two teams finally meet.

Wimbledon are 13/10 (2.30) with Bet365 to do their part and see off York at Kingsmeadow.

That is unlikely to be straightforward against a York side with ex-Burnley man Clarke Carlisle in defence and one that recently went on a run of six games without defeat.

York are 9/5 (2.80) with Bet365 to win this one. The draw is available at 23/10 (3.30).

Another 1-1 draw, as in the first tie between these sides, is 11/2 (6.50) with Bet365 but eventually there will be a winner here.

On Saturday that was Wimbledon in the League Two clash between the teams at Bootham Crescent, as the visitors won 3-0 to end York’s unbeaten run. A repeat of that score is a 22/1 (23.00) shot here.

That was only their third clean sheet of the season and suggests Neal Ardley, who took over as Wimbledon boss last month, is beginning to tighten things up.

But, with York having scored just seven goals in their last 10 games, do not rule it out from happening again.

In fact, backing Wimbledon as the only team to score is the value bet here at 7/2 (4.50) with Bet365.

For the best bet it has to be the unders market. While the price of 4/9 (1.44) for under 3.5 goals might not be about to make you rich, there is a strong chance of it happening here.

It has paid out in 10 of the last 12 York games and 13 of the last 15 Wimbledon matches and is the pick of the bets here.
